    Halo 2600 Pre-Order

I'd like a copy with box and manual when released. Is it good enough just to show interest here or should I email (and thus further harass!) Albert?
  2. ^ That's a scary price! I'm always a little sceptical when I see this sort of thing pop up on eBay... I get that sometimes RL throws a curve ball and you have to make some money to survive but I really hate the idea of people buying these homebrews and collectibles (made for us fans of the system) just to hoard and then sell for big bucks later. It's a bit off colour for me... Anyway, I hope the new run that Albert's planning looks as good as that one though. It really is very nice. Loving the seal on the packaging.
  3. I'm glad to hear the joysticks and paddles will be sold separately. I don't really want a SOAC when I could just buy another Jr and Harmony cart but the idea of buying tasty new sticks and paddles gets my juices going. Bill, will you be reviewing these wired controllers in a different video or will they be included in part 2?
  4. I just bought Frog Pickle and it got me thinking about the homebrew scene for the VCS. There are a ton of videos and reviews all over the net regarding top 10 all time games for the VCS etc but I've never really seen one for all the wonderful homebrews out there. It's kinda strange really as the homebrew scene has been going for about as long as the VCS's commercial life... So, do you guys think it would be worth compiling a chart?
  5. Bought. I hope it's worth the 66p I just paid for it. I'll give it a bash after the Grand Prix finishes...
  6. Another one for the Vectrex here. I'd also throw the Neo Geo Pocket into the ring too. That wee thing could've been great given some love...
  7. Maybe it was the emu running a little funny as I can't replicate the glitch today... Do you plan to expand the game further or is this the final thing? Just curious.
  8. Oh, you seriously have to get a scoring system on the go for this baby! Kinda like an endless runner/Canabalt running score based on distance plus bonus points for jumping on the baddies. Maybe some checkpoints? Great stuff here!
  9. So, since the KS raised 200% does that mean that there will be a second run of carts sometime down the line? If so, I'd be interested...

I'll PM you with the fix That would be great!
  11. I just tried (twice!). Once I submit my review the page just sits there saying "Please Wait..." interminably. I'll try again later. BTW, why does the store front and actual product page still Boulder Dash Pre-Order? Isn't it just for sale now?
  12. Well, I woke up this morning and as soon as I opened the bedroom door there was a knock on the front door. Guess what? It was the postie with a lovely parcel from Albert! Eagerly I opened it, put on the t-shirt that I also got, giggled with glee at the packaging/contents, ran through to the living room like a big kid, plugged in the cart and... the picture was rolling all over the place!! I was gutted. Turns out I had to RTFM! All's well now and I'm a very, very happy man. It really did feel like Christmas this morning - my girlfriend kept giggling at me for being 'so cute'! Thanks guys for all your work. The game is great, the packaging and contents are excellent and it's made all the better by being an officially licensed game. Now, I'm off to play another game before I have to go to work this afternoon.

I reckon I can see Photoshop artifacts in that picture. Tell you what, I'll give you a fiver for it.
  14. I used to be a 'crazy' collector with tons of stuff that never got touched. I'd buy loads of games and hardware for consoles that it turned out I never really played at all. I had hundreds of NES games, SNES games, Jaguar games, Dreamcast games, Xbox 360 games and countless more for other systems. I've now trimmed my collection to systems that I actually play. Namely, my 2600, Vic-20, Vectrex, N64 and Game Boy series (which I normally play on TV). All these systems are hooked up and are all played regularly. I'm now a happy gamer rather than a frustrated collector! I am seriously thinking of getting Videopac though. It's a great wee system and I often miss it. I really want to go back and play classics like Munchkin as well as new games like KTAA... Like most folk here, I don't really have as much time as I'd like to play games but the good news about older systems is that most of the games don't demand a lot of your time and you can always squeeze in a quick game of, say, Space Invaders while cooking dinner...

    VECTREX

I asked Alex if he'd make it available as a download (purchased), as it works on the VecMulti. LOGO also works on the cart because that too uses extra RAM. I got no reply. It's a really great game BTW. Speaking of the VecMulti; Do you have any plans to produce any more in the future? For some reason my VecFlash doesn't work in my 'new' Vectrex. It worked fine in my first one but that's now dead. I bought another and when I pllug my VecFlash in nothing happens... The machine doesn't even make it's signature hum...
  16. I have been playing a fair bit of Videopac through the emulation of late as I don't own a console. Anyway, the emulation just isn't as good as the real thing and it got me thinking about flashcarts for the system. I know that John Dondzila has his 233in1 thingy but has there ever been a proper flashcart for the system?
  17. I didn't know this even existed. So, are you going for a full-on Space Invaders style or do you intend to keep the P's static? Don't know if it was the emulator but every so often the bullets I fired would 'jump' a few pixels either left or right while continuing there upwards path. Hope that makes sense.

For me, ParaJVE. I haven't used the others but after playing with this one I saw no reason to try them out. The only downside is that it doesn't play Clean Sweep...

It's a great system. There's nothing else like it. The controller's pretty good, the graphics are stunning and a lot of the games are great. It's just a bugger that it's so bloody expensive to collect for. At least over here in PAL land. Even the homebrews are expensive - even if they do tend to be lovingly crafted. I'm just not rich enough to buy them all as much as I would like to. I'm probably in the minority here but my favourite classic game on the Vectrex is Clean Sweep. There's just something really nice about it. My collection's pretty small and I don't see it growing any time soon but I like what I have. I've got 2 systems though one is dead at the moment. One dust cover (not official!) bought from Nanny through this very site, a handful of classic games (Berzerk, Clean Sweep, Pole Position, Solaris and a couple more). I also have a modified Megadrive controller and a couple of games from John Dondzila and Vectrexians too. I only have the original overlays for the classic games mentioned above but I do have loads of the repros that were talked of in the Vectrex Google Group a while back. They still sometimes appear on eBay as far as I know. All in all, a wonderful and unique machine. EDIT: I forgot but I actually have to flash carts for it too. One is one of those cheap jobs with the dip switches for selecting the pre-installed games you find on eBay. The other is one of Richard H's Vecflash carts.
  20. I'm chuffed that you've managed to put in my favourite Nintendo tune ever (the underground theme). This definitely deserves a proper cart release with a box and manual! If that happens put me down for one too.
  21. Looking forward to the pics. I have never regretted buying my 2600 and I'm sure you won't either. It's amazing to think of people still buying a 2600 for the first time after all these years!
  22. Well, I suppose, Boulder Dash is a special case as it's a properly licensed game and therefore not really a homebrew. So, even before release, it was going to be a pretty rare title. I wonder where Boulder Dash will fit in to the greater collecting/archinving picture in years to come...
  23. Nice find. The switches are a little more expensive than I thought they would be though... Still, it's a nice small project for when you have time.
  24. Yeah, they don't make them like they used too. Good luck in fixing this wee gem up.
  25. Quirky looking stick. I quite like the look of it to be honest. Aren't those micro-switches just off the shelf parts?
