    I've seen a few of those "out of character" videos and, while I could be wrong, I don't get the impression that they're intended to be anything special. The guy knows that he has thousands and thousands of fans who can't get enough of him, and I think these videos are just to keep himself visible to those people while they wait for the next proper Nerd production. It's kind of like a band that releases an album of b-sides in between major studio releases or something.

     

    Regardless, James's "let's play" videos are still infinitely more watchable than the glut of excruciating "recent games pickups" and "unboxing" videos that litter YouTube, so I'm not sure why anybody would complain.

     

    Exactly! Also, I don't get why this thread is titled "angry video game nerd" when that's not the name of this show..

    Yeah, part 2 is out and it´s even more ridicolous than the first part. I don´t like this guy because he said that Attack of the Mutant Penguins is the worst game he ever played ;) As it´s one of my favorite games ever... well, blame on me, I don´t like penguins except TUX ;) No, I am just kidding...

     

     

    That's not what he said at all. Go rewatch the review and try listening to what he actually said. He said "This is the WEIRDEST game I ever played". He did NOT say the worst.

    It's the same issue with his 5200 review, which was the last one I ever watched, he just made fun of the obvious things, he didn't even look at a SINGLE 5200 title, most of which are actually quite good. Kind of doesn't make sense to criticize a console without even looking at its library. Jealous he has games? No, I already have them, I just don't appreciate someone getting a lackey to come in and ask for 'deals' on games that most of us have paid hundreds for on our own. Why should I give him over a good friend a 'deal' on Hot Slots? Yeah right. Go buy it yourself. And he hasn't gotten any free, as far as I know, because no one is lame enough to give them to him. What I really think is funny about this guy is this is pretty much what my friends and I did and do while playing games, he just got famous for making videos out of it. They were sometimes creative (last time I watched anyway), but just a general waste of time. It's not like he actually tells you much of anything, he just bitches about stuff. If you watch his videos for that, then fine, but don't expect to get any substanial video game history or commentary in the mix, it's all just a joke. He didn't even know that Color Dreams and Wisdom Tree were the same company in his original look at the NES 'bible' games.

     

    It was a review of the console. Not the games. That's why he didn't talk about the games.

     

    Just because you have the games doesn't mean you're not jealous. You're jealous because you had to pay for them and he didn't.

    At the expense of gamers? The Angry Video Game Nerd is a show about showcasing the flaws in bad video games. If anything it shows his love for good games - by pointing out all the bad ones. It's not being done at the "expence" of gamers. It's FOR gamers.

    He probably doesn't make enough to afford thousand dollar a piece games. By calling him a dick, it kinda sounds like you're jealous that he's gotten some free games and you didn't..

     

    Anyway, it was stated on his website that part 2 will be out Wednesday.

    I've actually gained new respect for the AVGN. At first I figured he was just an nes fan with a couple of other common systems, but lately he's really been branching out. With CD-I, I'm finally seeing his collection expanding to items I don't have, and probably won't have. Now I'm actually seeing him as an equal collector, rather than just a fairly entertaining clown who screams at the worst of the NES games in a crazy costume. Don't get me wrong, I like to laugh at his show, but I'm starting to feel that there's more to him than a couple hundred dollars worth of NES commons.

     

    I don't want to sound gay or nothing, but he might be okay to have a beer with.

     

     

    The AVGN was never really a guy who only talked about NES commons. Even in his early days he was reviewing obscure titles such as (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Wally Bear, Master Chu ext..) And he's reviewed a lot of other things besides NES games. Atari 5200, Sega 32 X, Virtual Boy, Intellivision, Atari Porno games. Even talks about stuff on Commodore and Vic 20...

     

    Anyway, according to his website Cinemassacre.com The last part of the CD-I videos is coming tonight.
