  1. Wow I can't beleive there is a cry baby Resident Evil fans :D :D :D To answer the original post. Yes the N64 version allows free movement of the character as for say Beyond Good and Evil controls. This also might mean the PC version can play this way too or maybe the dreamcast games. However I know for sure the N64 game can do this. However the control scheme is perfect for the series. Your moving around in real time like a real person who is. Unathletic Not Leon and your wearing all that crappy hip gear like a real cop would. The whole purpose of these games and Dino Crisis was to be as realistic as possible. The same could be said for Rockman on the PSX. Unless you prefer a fake world of Super Mario being able to balance yourself on Koopa's Spikes. The point is your not sappose to have fun in Resident Evil at all. Your sappose to be scared straight out of even replaying the game. As with Resident Evil 4 secondary objectives and the Very Hard mode ( which is the real mode of the game ). Personally the problem I could assume you people are having is turning. Most enemies have a hard time targeting you also so all you gotta do is walk in straight line around them and most of the time when you do get attacked another enemies actions is rendered useless. Then when you have two people make the other person stay on the offense when away. I love having the other person in another area shooting off apes while your in a room with two frogs but then agian some rooms needs two people like the frog for example can grab you and your dead no matter how hard you struggle. Also what does the presidents daughter do besides have nice panties and thinks everybody is going to give it to her
  2. The Wii is basically Nintendo returning to the TV toy era. They made it look like a non-violent system when Hillary was running for president and mentioned "violence in videogames" . The whole point of the Wii or any system is just to force consumer spending. In comparision with the GCN the Wii is really just an add-on for the Cube that was never made. Also there is no such term as Next Generation. That is just a advertisment term used to blind people from the truth of buying the same exact product thrice times over. Videogames have been the same since the NES era at least for the most part.
  3. Shhhh.........There watching us. Don't say that...Shhhhhh
  4. Well copy devices have been around for a long time but it is not the greatest. Yes it feels good to play and not pay but when I get a chance I do buy games. I have been buying more games then downloading over the years. The only thing I downloaded in any years is games like Word Muncher or Doom 3D. I also like to use the game disc/cart like background music.
  5. Anothony your making no sense at all. A. In any company when anybody works on a project it is for the company. Not yourself. However if there is an agreement of some sort. B. Miyamoto is a Drafter. He can design really good 2d stuff from shapes using tools we wouldn't even know. He incorperates himself into his games. C. Hiroshi Yamauchi was the brat of the Nintendo's household. Nobody at work liked him or respected him. That is why Miyamoto backed him up if he did. D. Gumpei saved Nintendo from failing period. E. The chair thing is fib. The thing is most people in any job gets two options. Do the work you get and go home or stay after hours and cook up something. Most Japanese people do this today working non stop. There is even sleep qaurters for people who work there...not just the dilbert seat. The thing in Japan is that there is no such thing as overtime. This is why US companies fail. F. Today the same thing is occuring in any company. With a bunch of eager employee's submitting ideas. Take Miyamoto in Nintendo power. They made it seem like the guy designed the N64 by himself.
  6. 10 year old is a very young age for anything. For the love of the ritious the main programmer of the original WolfTeam was 16 years of age. Cheating the setting? .....Get real . Like I breifly said the whole idea is that space is no differnt then the Ocean, and people of this Ocean is no differnt at all. Again being the obvious mature player of RPG series here. Star Ocean did everything any RPG has never done before period. About Sci-fi. There is no gere. They just say that not to look like a bunch of flowery sisi actors. Sci-fi is basic Drama and there is nothing special about drama asides it is a unscripted stage where anything could occur. The reason it attracted me was that I wanted to kick some Gabriel/Dhoas/Goblin Prince/ behind. The series is grand and good. There is nothing wrong with it. There is alot of space themed series from Japan many of being my favorites. The thing is Japanese artists treat there animations, ficiton, manga, and videogames like everything is normal. Take Lum Chan being the devils daughter from Space. Star Wars is a movie series. The first one they came from a desert former slave planet ( simular to planet Iracus ). They go into a bar in town with all kinds of space thingamajig people. Then they head to the hanger. They had the same thing in Lunar but it was Post apocolyptic. In fact the world of the original SO is post apocolyptic. They crash landed and the three kingdoms formed an alliance. All magic is withdrawn from a parja also. Star Treck is a TV series. It is the series this game follows as a prodigy. Blah blah blah they go down to the planet and allway s end up in situation where they need to use there heads. Like black sludge monster, or when Picard spoke with his mother and she was just a memory, or when Data went down to such undeveloped world and was deemed a Warlock. There is nothing medevil about Star Ocean. You need to think Ancient time Space Fantasy Future Perfect With a dash of Present Day Paranorma In Star Treck from time to time they use other weapons, Like the Cross bow. Cless or whoever tends to be the average figther and thus Sword master, your best freind who is natural a long range user, There is a summoner ( which is pretty universal ), a healer ( basically a nurse or nun ), and some other wacky characters like a Half Elf, Witch, who is a real slut A Tatoo Master who has Tatoo's down there Another Sword weilding character who wants to be the hero A character who is the decendents of past characters. A loud mouth Girl A big tuff guy A old tuff guy who just happens to be related to the big guy. A Angel A wondering spirit A mechical Genius A mechical Geniusophile A stwreatus A couple who both happens to have three eyes ( hint 3y3 ) And so many more characters including a guy with a pair of Dragons on his shoulders. Unoriginal. You gotta be kidding me. Have you ever seen a forest so fricking sureal? With the works and even wild animals. The City of time that happens to be NY. The Lake on Yrmir What about Slyphs level where they would die just by dissapearing out of reality The various workshops and labs. Even the end chase scene of the Time Lab. The gateway to Hell which is really the world of Mythical Beings. About Castle OF the Dhoas? What potential? you mean walk around boring facilities all day long, and have lame cut scenes with the city being fulled with people....PLEASE Or how about a train like in Final Fantasy series but then agian maybe it could be a ghost spaceship train. So what if the bio is not used. It is just there to get people intrested in the characters and understand them more. Have you ever played something called SNATCHER???? You really need to play some SNATCHER. , Now you just plain nuts. Star Ocean was the first game where I would walk around for hours in a lush enviorment and not move onto a zoom out map. The whole point is to make the Turn-based exprience more realistic. Those towns or whatever you call it is just towns ( you have to be more specific ). Look Dragon Quest is not the first RPG of anything or the best of anything nore is it trying to be. Enix survived by producing smaller companies RPG's ( like SO for example ). Dragon Quest while having the same popularity as Gundam is highly undeveloped period and is what keeps it intresting. Hey guess what? Star Ocean is just as sought after as Dragon Quest. Also to hell with DQ there is Y's, Phantasy Star, Digital Devil, and even Star Ocean that is far more developed. Heck there is even Dragon Slayer ( and the animtion one also ), Dungeon Master, and even Drakken. Guess what also the first RPG was a board game with Project A-ko and some sorta sock being used along with a thumb pin. There is a whole vastness of differnces and Star Ocean is one the most popular stars one the rise. 23 years? give me a break people have been playing RPG games for as long as there has been play pretend. 1985 was never the first of RPG series only the popularity of DAD. Also there was many RPG games in the Arcades also. In fact in USA it began with 1970's cults, Hippies, space freaks, bibleobes, and Satan worshipping, along with magic propaganda linked to many things that could have triggered it. J-RPG I think not. That is whole seperate gere. A RPG is a RPG and that is all. The truth is most western RPG series falls into the board game beatdown of DAD. They go for the realistic look not even trying representation. Then the problem is nobody wants to sit around the camp fire playing a game reading instructions falling a sleep. About RPG games from japan...most of them gets to the point. People in the west don't nuture there stuff like babies. They treat it like a product. People in Japan would give there lives for there work. In fact people do die from there work over there. Over here they market videogames like a commodity. Star Ocean is on a universal level and there is nothing I could think of. However if you like facilities then play the GBC game. It is like Star Treck. They go to planets that needs there help or is of major concern. These worlds just happen to be that way. In other games or most games if not all games a town, city, village, house, or whatever is what it is. I have a devilman RPG where you wander the world like Fist of the North Star. Hell there pretty much the same thing being in a post apoclyptic state but then agian there is differnt attitudes. Like in FOTNS the town is barren with lots of tuff enemies but in DMRPG the towns are full of survivors. Hey guess what they have places like that in Japan. Big wide spaces with no signs of life. That land is owned by regular households who is paying into there grandchildrens lives. People think hey why is there series allways filled with forests. Hey guess what that is part of there culture. Nobody is blaming anybody also. You just don't want to accept how anything so peacfull as a stroll threw a forest could relate to zooming around the universe. Tri-Ace is not making any promises you just need to accept it for what it is. Something you don't understand.
  7. Exactly. That is what I am talking about. Present Day Paranorma the gere that everybody pushes over while the Japanese flurishes in it. Which is known in B-movies, Soap Operas, Romance Novels, Pulp Novels mostly. The whole point of SO is to do everything that every other RPG has not done before. Can you point out somethings in Star Ocean that is unoriginal but is not unavoidable? Also take into consideration that Tales Of Phantasia is the exact same game but did everything possible that every RPG did before but with a twist. Also you have to be usted to playing RPG games as I have. I am at a point where Role Playing Games means Representive Program Game. More importantly it is not my favorite gere any longer. I could only assume you meant Japanese Turn based RPG which is mostly in the world of Pangea setting type atmosphere. These RPG series tends to falls into Y's Green Green RPG type series. They are a young company. 3d is a new thing to them. Also there primary function is 2d. They operate on the same base line of a late SNES company did. Also there is a couple of free mmorpg series out by them right now. That is your problem not there's and your also confusing gere's. Take DUNE for example ( go look up Dune the series that changed everything ) the other Star Wars or even Star Wars. They live in a world where you can arrive in any kind of setting no matter where they went. Take "The Wizard Of Oz" for example. She goes from Black and white farm Americana to the colorfull world of Oz. There is various things from her world along with things that is in Oz. Look at the Wizard's place that is filled with gizmo's and gadgets for everybody but you would probably say " There is nothng techonological about a Heart for Tin-Man, a Degree for Scarecrow, or badge that gives corage to Lion. However guess what Oz exsist in the same world as Americana Heartland where Dorathy comes from. Then "Space Balls" . The big chase scene with Ronald McDonald, a cheif, and some other common figures ploping out of nowhere. Then Dark Helmet playing dolls, Lonestars camper, and the frog Alien bit. Even take "Alien" the series ( not the last movie ) . Where they talked about common coversations people have everyday. Or how Ripley is ersasist against robots. When the Alien attacked the only other female crew member that hinted at rape. Even the attitude of each crew member and there reactions being false or real. This is part of Present Day Paranorma. Look at Phantasy Star and how you spend hours at end in dungeons, forests, and castles. You don't like Phantasy Star also? Also Hey guess what? In the future when were cruising around space there still will be houses, forests, magic, sweat shops, and anything that exsisted previously. Just look at that Liger that gives us an example of cave man times. There is nothing middle age about Star Ocean also. The thing is if the America went back to living without electricity we would go back to the western era. If it was Japan did it they would just go back to fueduel times in which there society stopped progressing since colonial times. The Logically thing I could say in any responce here is that Japan is still in this middle ages you describe this game to be in.
  8. There is not one game that I have up to date that automatically saves the system and causes malfunction to the Memory Card or it's saved data. However I will admit pulling the cart out or placing it back in if it is loose might cause a problem since the slot is very ifi. Your going to take some sorta small tool or metal stick and carefully pull them foward a bit. People have been doing this all over the net for sometime now. I doubt anybody is going pull that hard on it. It is like bending the NES prongs on systems for some reason have all the prongs pressed inwards deep. Sega would'nt be that cheap to make a product. Again I only suggest it for which I have not done since I go for preservation. About cleaning it with a credit card ( which I am guessing a tissue paper of some sort and some damp water ). Personally you don't have to clean it unless you dirty games/memory. It is kinda funny. The Dreamcast has a battery but no built in save station....propertory.
  9. Well Funcoland was a mom and pops business. Most of the original staff from my nearest chain ( currently 30 something year olds now ) is still working in the Gamestop system. I remember going into the store and being able to play games. Hanging out with the neighbor-hood street dweller ( guy who drinks Coca-Cola and smokes his heart out ), and even chat with the staff about how they would watch me on the camera and joke about me. Then into the Gamestop era where they Kept the same pay but lengthen the hours 12:00-6:00PM to 9:00-9:00PM Fired the manager who was working there for the longest time ( where he left the doors open and turned off the security cameras. Then fired every other manager afterwards. Gamestop turned that place into a revolving door of managers. This guy was a former Naval Officier. One guy broke down and cried. Everybody knew him as the Father that missed his sons birthday. He was the most freindliest The store was fille with father gamers who was at home with child ( AHWC ) Another was fat and cherry. She mentions how the last guy kept the store messy. Another was kinda erasist. He was okay with a uptown attitude and called "South Park: Chef Love Shack" a pee-on game ( Pion )??? Another was erasist but a black person ( who suprising lasted the longest ) she had a terrible attitude. Still owes me my pre-order item All managers hired people reflecting there personalities . It was like going to cheers but you do something to tick one guy off and the whole thing falls apart. I ticked them off a couple of times. Speaking of which Well yes that is true. They had what was out mostly and still do. The had a lunch break and closed early. Later when they had computers if it was down the store was down The people they hired was pretty much people with no college or was over 21 for the most part. Some of these people now work in Game Crazy.
  10. Basically the X-box is a cheap and affordable gaming machine. It can. Run Windows 2000 Play most of anything before it. Including PS2 and Dreamcast. Makes a cheap Media center. and is very upgradable. For a breif moment I owned a coperate version of the X-box. Then that dream was broken when I couldn't get the money on time. :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x
  11. From a former Nintendoh-pion who was a Mario Maniac and Pokemon Maniac. And you call yourself users of Videogame media.....amatuers.... Okay here is the low down. Mario has held many jobs from Carpenter Plumber Doctor Cheif Ballon operator His home is Brooklyn, NY where he runs his plumbing business with his brother Luigi. One day Mario heard cries for help down a pipe in his basement and they discovered it was a warp that took them to another world... Donkey Kong took place in high rise custruction sights of New York City. During the obvious and late 1970's there was many talk of construction around that time and big business. Donkey has three series of shows I believe. Donkey the Cartoon Ghost Busters ( unofficial ) just hinting at the ape costume. ?????? ( I forget the other series. However during this time Donkey was all the rage. There is many DK stuff out there. Mario Bros- Basically where the "Super Mario Brothers" series took off from. This idea was Mario and Luigi fighting an endless onslought of sewer creatures. Take "Hustle Chummy" or "Manhole" for example. You know the drill of the game. Then came the obvious. Super Mario Bros. Mario was in homes along with Pee-Wee, Rocky, The New Ghost Busters ( the on ewithout the gorrilla ), and anything else that was eighties. There was ????? I have heard about show before the following. Basically the "rap cat hour" where they showed cartoon shows along with Mario Bros. Super Mario Brothers Super Show. That has ove 225 to 304 or so episodes. This takes you back to Brooklyn where Mario and Luigi hangs out with Cameos all day long after work. However they also go on adventures with them. Mouser also appears in this series. It is staring a former wrestler ( of course during the 80's there was a lot of wrestlers ) as Mario ( I forget the other guys names ). The Super Mario Brothers Super Show was basically Super Mario Brothers II. Captian N- had some Mario Cameos like Kongo Land for example. Super Mario Brothers 3. Blah blah is just a continuation but without the live action parts. Mario, Princess, Toad, and Luigi in the Mushroom World ( keep in mind there is big differnce between Kingdom and world ) where they go on adventures that mostly breaks out dance and song. This was the Koopa Kid era. Super Mario World &Captain N was the last series of real Mario Cartoons. Basically everybody but Toad who is replaced by a cave boy is on vacation. This place Dinosaur Land is actually the premisis where the Koopa Kingdom is built. They meet Yoshi who is the real forth wheel then the Cave Boy. Mario in Dominos Commercial. Basically after this was the N64 era. Which started with Miyamoto talking about how he does not let his kids play videogames and him getting owned in his own N64 game along with the preview of Diablo. Anything else is Mario on the walls of the streets and used unofficially in advertisments. GAME OVER. Well Peach is Toadstools real name in Japan. Over here we call here Toadstool. Personally Peach and Toadstool does and was advertised differntly. Toadstool has brown, brunette almost red haired with a Purple pink dress. Also Toadstool kicks arse while Peach is just a helpless doll. The name Peach was used in the Yoshi Safari game in USA. This is where people got the idea it was really a another princess. That and the game was originally released in USA.
  12. Okay you know what the problem with these companies droping dead all over the place is? They aren't Japanese. Like the OP said high production costs + low fan base = Halo and good bye. If there going to die anyways why not go out with bang and produce something for a change. Factor 5 is a tool by choice and had nothing else to do with anybody outside being a tool. Free Radical Design while being remembered RARE employees released Time Splitters at least. Maybe Factor Five and Free Radical Design can finally create a game, publish it, and release it as a going away present to the world. Maybe it will bring back both of them as one company. I searched and heard about Pumpkin Beach which is to be the new Free Radical Design However they aren't going to be making anymore FPS Personally I am a fan of the original Perfect Dark. However when I heard Time Splitters on my system was going not going to be a Netplay game I just couldn't pick it up. Also I got big and my wallet....got smaller.
  13. I know exactly what I want for Christmas and my newest toy is.
  14. If you unplug the Sega Saturn it will drain fast. Otherwise you need to leave it pluged in like my Saturn. When saving the Saturn will inform you of enough room. All memory for the Saturn is flash not battery. About VMU on your Dreamcast. Remember it is that of a N64 but with more features. So it is bound to be a little adnormal. This is a 3rd party or unofficial product. It is not heavily built for life and such a device was never meant to be. The Saturn cart slot is also wide kinda like unvirgin St. Maria. So like myself you need to. A. Deal with it being so wide B. Open it up and get something to pull the prongs together on both sides to make it read better. C. Get a adapter that is wider and put it over the back. I suggest B personally but I often use A.
  15. let me try to make things simplier to why Tri-Ace Star Ocean is and will allways be a good chioce. Present Day Paranorma. Where you take a present day world and anything can occur kind like the following You don't get this with other RPG series. The last real 2d RPG to give you Present Day Paranorma bliss in a world that has been locked off from Manga readers everywhere. The only other series to do this is the official Star Treck RPG that bores you with mumbo jumbo missions in space and ever so predicted a commercial outcomes. If your not mature enough to grasp the concept of flying zillions of miles in space, only to find a remote planet where nobody knows what electricity is and the whole entire objective flies off topic leaving your wallet feeling empty then you need alot of growning up to do. Then again you can go back to getting armor, powering up spells, and running around in machines that has the same predictable actions as the last game, or game next to it.
  16. I am going to assume that you want to build your own version of the X-band from reading the above. What is wrong with making a client that mimics the action of server ( fooling the X-band ) and thus allowing play over Kalleria like interface? All these so called settings your talking about could be in program that interfaces with the X-band. Maybe there could be data storage of X-mail files, and other stuff including rankings. However if your not making a X-band mimicer and just replicating functions of the X-band to build your device. Wouldn't you need somebody to build the actually unit? I suggest posting this up in the colleges. I see alot of vendors, and people looking to start projects.
  17. Well that is the thing about Star Ocean it is Tri-Ace's flagship title. It is the representation of the formation of Tri-Ace comming together in this case. There is nothing Sci-Fi about Star Ocean. Think of Space like being a gigantic Hyrule but you do cruise around but why would need to when you can go hyper drive in your Enterprise. Think of Drama and regular Role Playing you would see on a stage and going into space is like going on the Nautlis or Red October in the sea but there is no war. Whatever you do. Do not put Star Ocean in the same boat as the Xeno series. Really? FF Sqauresoft while known for FF7 got devoured into Enix. Dragon Quest while being very innovative ( untapped potential and open ) in my own opinion the reason for this games triumpt was the Art Style of you know who that projected the feeling of the over all game. Without the AT attitude being applied to the series it would have flopped on rentry. The Star Ocean series is way more bigger in comparison to Dragon Quest while maintaining regular day to day actions without being one sided.
  18. I am not into the programming gig right now since I fighting a war agianst my college however. A. There is a program out there right now that is being used with the Dreamcast and other devices alike to fool the 56K line into thinking it is hooked to a server. Maybe you can fool the X-band it is connecting to the server and run it threw a Kalleria like interface on the computer. B. I was recently registered with the official X-band forum ( which got knocked down by lack of moderating and constant spamming ). The website is the what the original X-band modem would log into. I was reading about the X-band and how they had to hack into the game to make it work. I would search for the original owner of the forum on the subject of X-band since he used the original IP address the X-band logs into for his forum address. Along with that, there was many features removed from the game. Like in Doom certain sounds was omited. I am just amazed to find out that Killer Insticts was a X-band game also. There is a couple of articles on this Of course while games was hacked. There was many features taken out of the games. What is kinda funny is how the Genesis version of SF2 ( which is the only version ) was the network version while the SNES game was the New Challengers series. It says alot about the power of the systems and where they belong. Again on the topic of hacking SNES/Genesis games to make them X-band playable The person who originally was on the team who previously worked in India hacking other games and porting them to lesser computer systems at the time. I forget his name. That person if any would be a great deal of help at all. Also you would want consolidate programming languages that was popular around the GIF file era before GIF was propertorized. Why I am intrested in this. Anyways my meat in this is that I have this great idea for a MMORPG. It is pure concept right now and in the future if I am able to get the team. It is going to be a 3d format game but In terms of fame and fourtune it would be wonderful to have a MMORPG on the SNES that would be free of course. I also would like to get use out of my X-band ( which 3volt is no longer alive and depends on the cart inserted ) on the SNES. I heard the reason for the conversion on the SNES was to allow netplay between the Genesis. However such ideas was kinda funny since all it would take is representation of code and not sprites.
  19. $77-$80 for dev cart. I could only remember. I just wish the game was unreleased
  20. Lets get some things things straight. Star Ocean is probably the last good chunck of any RPG series you will ever see new on the face of this planet. The only thing that is anything near better is "Shin Megami Ten" series. Keep in mind this company is hanging in the balance and they want to make the game as intresting as possible. When looking at any RPG series nowadays I would compare it to the atmosphere of animation since the primary goal of past 2d game creators was to achieve a look of a fighter games. The combat system from the break down is basically Street Fighter style gameplay. Just to keep you up to date. Tri-Ace has been around for a very long time and Star Ocean is there flagship series. It continues from the original "Tales Of Phantasia" series. The whole point of this creation is to be the best as possible while bieng different as possible. The atmosphere of "Star Ocean" is basically what would occur if you took the "Star Treck Next Generation" away team* and stuck them in world of Ancient times* . However to the "Star Treck:TNG" these are called undeveloped worlds. The enemies of the "SO" series is that of a Space Fantasy world like "Dune" or the Star Treck Universe. About the catergory of the series. Star Ocean is more of a drama or B-Movie kinda situation. It is your basic Y's, Phantasy Star, generic kinda situation and should be put on the same level of the two. Star Ocean is not the following Sci-fi- is really unexplained Drama. Everything in Star Ocean has a explaination. Horror- is just present day paranorma my favorite gere or young adult Rommance - is just pornography or AV stars for girls. DAD- basic dungeon cake walk but is primarily western based What's up with Xenosaga? Xenosaga is really Xenogears ( unless I am missing something ) and is now considered to be a franchised, which is very bad for any undeveloped series. The original game takes place in a war torn world. In this case a world like Zillion, Reign the Conquer, or Fire Emble. This game falls directly into the strategic Anime catergory. The game machinics like Special effects, lighting, and various appears to be completly false in terms of animation or real in terms of logic. Basically this game one the first of a long line to use scientifically proven logic. Unlike previous games on the SNES, PCE, Saturn or PSX that used logic based on animation. I could only assume this is the reason why you turned off by the game as I am. About voices in Videogames The problem with RPG games is that they have allways been tied to animation or a Charlie Chaplin Film like state. Now with voices people aren't able to use there imaginations to make up there own langauge for the characters. By the appearance and actions of the characters you could obviously guess there voices also. About western voices in Videogames Since we are immuned to western speaking voices. we can fully understand the emotions that flow from them. However since these RPG games was built for Japanese auidiences in mind we could never feel the emotion of that culture since we never lived there our selves . The voices is never ever fully translated and in most cases never ever taken seriously. It is like my favorite drama at the moment. It was originally made in english and thus the characters sound normal but in another language you would obviously see the differnce and be turned off by the acting. The same goes for any dubbed work and therefore you need the original. So how should you feel about the new Star Ocean game on the 360? Well personally you shouldn't feel anything at all. This game is a continuing series and you need to play the previous games to get a feel of the series. Meaning right now get your favorite emulators or go buy...... Any other RPG made by Wolfteam, Any other game made by Telegames after Wolfteam's previous games. Tale Of Phantasia...SNES Star Ocean...SNES Star Ocean 2...PSX Hell even watch the Anime of Star Ocean 2. Which is way better then the game itself. Star Ocean:Blue Sphere....GBC Star Ocean 3 however do not play any Tales games made by Namco since they are all Tales Of Phantaisa wannaabbee....Clones. Keep in mind that Tri-Ace is still young and is still in development in camparision to Sqaure, Enix, Namco, Atlus or any other well known RPG producer. As of this date Star Ocean on the SNES is the best newest RPG ever made to this date with Tales Of Phantasia running along side it. The only thing that might be better is the Y's, Digital Devil, Mother, Phantasy Star, and Dragon Quest series with Final Fantasy hanging off the edge.
  21. Great game but here is the sad part. Rare reused most of it's Battle Toads programming in all games it made after that. Just try any other adventure game that is out there. I also suspect they did the same thing with other games of the same gere. A great example is the targeting boss scene or enemies attacking from the background. Like where Sqauresoft reused most of it's previous enemies and events from past games. Take for example the Mammoth Machine in Chorno Trigger. About BattleToads. I remember watching the cartoon series ( and mimicing ) on television. I beleive there was one Battle Toads where they had Double Dragon as a cameo. However the game was quite rarely ( get it ) availible to me. Asides the obvious Rare Nintendo games. I probably randomly played the game at a arcade that was around. When they still had arcades
  22. Well from what I read about the MSX series. The OS was a special version of DOS and was a computer series that ran for a long time into the late 90's. The original MSX was more of a computer show piece then a game system. Various programs on it was for commercial and work usage. The colevision was basically a clone of the SG-1000 that is identicle in hardware. The MSX however was far superior to the Colevision regaurdless of the related programing. Also the MSX2 is where the real games began to shine. Yeah the programming was related so when converting games they probably picked the easiest route to look at the way it was programmed on the computer ( MSX ) and then change it around to run on the Colevision ( console ).
  23. To the original poster. Most earlier videogames released on the NES was originally from the arcades or based on it's Arcade counter part. Then the obvious commercial ports like Darkwing Duck Beatle Juice Addams Family Golgo 13 However there is game series that is just as successfull as there commercial counter parts like Battle Toads Double Dragon River City Ransom Also there is prodigies of other games. Which you can recognize
