  1. I am trying to read this article but man oh man it is making confused. The only bit of information I got from is that I should watch the "Secret Of NIHM" ...again Wow I mean wo, just wow. Using words like Saying things like. Looking at this guys image looks like a train wreck. The reason why Atari failed is that they have limited creative support. Nobody knew what a Jaguar or Atari was at the time but people who grewed up with Atari. Most of the consumers was ages 5-11. Then the games just makes no sense at all. I remember the commercials of the game system for the 64-bit nonsense. I mean what the hell is this guy trying to pull. They were selling a system that had no ground. Or it has lots of ground but nobody wanted to plant the seeds. Also most of the games are on PC not to mention is just un fun or unknown. It is called a mascot. Something that is respected and is well known threwout the world. Yeah Atari has the Rainbow as it's Icon while Robocop is on a rampage somewhere with the OCP logo on it. I mean who would want any character called Major Havoc as there Mascot? Is Major Havoc even a reasonable name for any mascot or iconic? In responce to this a company in Japan is going to breakout the giganator? I mean WTF. I got the following from trying to read whatever he was mentioning before that. We are taking atari games and trying to make them more then a Mini game. We are trying to be indept and create dept for "hop scotch" and "poker" Our games arent intresting without fancy special effects and invloving 3d would make it more intresting. What is even sadder is how they compare Nintendo publishing to there own at the end Well people did enjoy the game and so do I. However the game is very bare ( while being more challenging then that Smash Brothers on the Saturn ) and felt very un forfilling. Virtua Fighter greatest strenght is it's name. It is a 3d fighter basically that mimics real fighting. The reason why it is unpopular nowadays is that many other fighters have went 3d and has surpassed it. Playing the game again gives a clean feeling. Unlike Street Fighter that has a very built up and well known story line. Battle Toshinden is just plain silly but looks fun to play with. Tekken is just weird. Virtual Fighter pretty much is a VR fighter and is of pure fiction. Even the comic adventure feels extremely bland. Dead or Alive has bouncy breasts and Ryu from Ninja Gaiden. Fatal Fury has a built up atmosphere at least. Lastly Rival Schools is something we all can relate to. Basically Virtual Fighter is extremly bland right now. With Fatal Fury building a better Street Fighter where does that leaves Virtua Fighter? I played the new game and asked myself does any of this make any sense at all? Even the 3d Fatal Fury games make more sense then VRF5.
  2. Your going to see alot of this since all these digital luny bins think what they are getting is a better deal.
  3. At the time 1993 people who had the spending power had a PC, with the latest Video card ( graphics Card ) and sound blaster card and was enjoying various games 3d games. However for the rest of us who could never afford a full arcade machine or a $500 to $700 dollar machine we had our portable videogame systems. Then came the Sega Saturn and suddenly the consumer 3d boom was all the rage. From 2d sprite scaled games to Arcade shooters and fighters. Briefly before that there was Jaguar, 32X, along with various 3d games that nobody barely knew about. I remembered when I would look at Starfox and then look back at the manual to compare the Arwings details. Then later when we had the Super Mario RPG and FF7 out I was going on and on about how Super Mario RPG was more realistic looking and how Final Fantasy was not. Then sega presented Sonic 3d: flicky islands that proved to be astonishing to all Sonic players. I still can't believe the way people was going crazy over Sonic R when it was released on the Saturn and then Mario 64 was unbeleiveable. Then there was all the 3d advertisments like Bug and Nights. Lets not forget the Nintendo versus everything bit. I was a walking advertisment for Nintendo all that time. All those games on any system could be on each system. Hell we could have Jetset Radio on the 32X, SNES, and the Jaguar. I mean nowadays hey I prefer the 3d then to all the animus we have now. It was at okay level and was reasonable. people ( kids) will never enjoy what we had and while many of you would rather not go back to those days for anything I would.
  4. The second RPG boom. The one that made people start collecting turn based games out of craziness not knowing if it was a good rpg or a bad one. The RPG boom that made the Japanese look like some sorta creative manfest-destiny and DAD people look like Everquest fans. The one that gave rise to pro-Anime enthusiast who we still see today in the swarm of it all. The way I see it the Second RPG boom wasted my time entirely. I remember spending 40-60 dollars on games just the fact they looked like a RPG. I never even knew the meaning of what a RPG was at the time. Today I have my own meaning for it since the real meaning is just not universal enough. Those turn based games was a Joke. I would sit there dying and dying oh so many times. All that time I could have been losing weight, getting a girl, or even studying. Then you discover most of those game creators who made the RPG never really played videogames at all. Hell most game systems that was being played was a 2d computer that was tied to a anime of some sort. If I could change anything would I...In my heart/soul/mind/ I would but my body says otherwise. Hell I have legs and I am not crippled yet I spent half my time in one spot like a good little boy playing these RPG games. I mean dangit all. What is funny is how after that I even apreciate the DAD rpg boom and the play right Role Playing itself. Hell most of the people I was playing these with was getting into fights, and dealing with a community where everybody played basketball, and cursed alot, but wow everybody seems to get into RPG games alot. The only thing that was popular then the RPG games was the sports games. Today the RPG games have really toned down. I remember Final Fantasy games where everybody in the first act would get killed and then the entire earth opens up and gushes all the adults of a village. Nowadays you see some pair of legs with no body do a bunch of back flips, take out a bunch of gaurds, and then make some sorta look. I mean they don't even enter a battle of any sort and your sappose to be impressed with this why? The fact it looks good, and there is so much bland looking graphics. What is even worst is how they gave them speech. I don't want to hear them talk and while talking is nice at least keep the original voices. That defeats the purpose of me playing videogames. I don't play to listen to people banter I play to get away from those people. Then the music. Okay mp3, AC3, or whatever you want to call it sounds great. However the stuff we had was off the hook and did not leap off track. Today people make games they think hey we gotta have mp3 sounding music for everything. Again I play games to get away from commercial atmosphere. So about that Second RPG boom?
  5. These are all the generations I do not like in terms of my least favorite. I mean there is alot of stuff on all those systems I could banter on and on for ages but when you get down to it 2d is videogames and 3d is just a gere.
  6. The N64 apparently dropped many things including RGB(HD) support. So you can. A. Try using a SNES RGB/SCART to see if it can work which is probably not going to. B. Use a AV to RF and then AV to see if anything changes. C. Plug it in threw your VCD AV if it has such support. Most VCR devices just pulls it directly to the television. D. Mod the N64 ( which I dislike ) to use RGB support. E. Change the video mode of the television screen? A good thing to mention is the type of television you are using and what model. The N64 games can go into various video modes and settings including ultra suround sound. The only time I ever had a shacky screen was when I used my computers video card.
  7. I want to say the Super Mario RPG commerical with the grandfather telling the story of Super Mario but I really love the Dr. Mario Witch doctor commercial for Gameboy. Where he goes Oh eehh ohh aahhhh Doctor Mario. There is also the Get Down with Zelda Gameboy commercial I danced to
  8. First off there is no such thing as Generation Y. It is just another Newspaper Monkey trying to make another waste of time definition up. If there was then here is the explation. If your on bringe of insanity trying to figure our life then your Generation X. You enjoy the internet by phone line then your generation X. If your still using a windows 98 machine then your Generation X. If you don't know what a Emo is then your Generation X. If you dream about Stephanie from Lazy Town then your Generation X. I think JC is still alive singing with Kid Rock or even remember JC then your Generation X. If you remember Puff Daddy then your Generation X. If Digital only means digital clock then your Generation X. If your playing Wii workout then your Generation Y. If you lived with internet by phone line then your generation Y. If you got one of those Quazi neo Apple's in house your Generation Y. If you don't know what a Metal Head is then your Generation Y. If you dream about Talor Swift then your Genaration Y. If you think JC stands only for JCpenny or reminds you of J-low then your defenently Generation Y at this moment. If you only remember Pdiddy then your Generation Y. If digital In general Generation X was about freedom. Right now generation X is the adults with the children and could careless about anything but there jobs along with a few making the best of the situation. In general Generation Y is about the people who thinks nothing of anything and plays with Icons on there shiney new Apple G4 and there 500GB only for $100 Generation Y is playing sims2 right now, Smoking cigarrettes, and dressing up like "Gangsta" shouting profanities.
  9. What are you saying? Wikipedia is not the best source for anything. I would say whatever your makemup list comprise the PCE/SNES/NES/MSX2/MD/SATURN/SMS and that would be the third generation in my book. 2d gorgeous with 3d bliss Why not the other ones. At home Pong has only one game An arcade has only one game on it PC's change too much. The Atari has too many pixels for sprites The Commendore is European The Amiga is a tool. I can't say the N64 since that is a abomination. The PSX is just the SNES with Compact Disc. The game music also hurts my head. I turn it to lowest and still hear it. The Dreamcast was a waste of time and effort. The X-box is just FPS machine The GCN dropped out too early The PS2 has N64 ports and is just another SNES flagship. The PS3 would be my most favorite However 360 has the same power and the Wii is just a GCN gone wireless
  10. If you mean the blocky game where everybody walks funny. Yes it was on the Commendore 64 and maybe the Atari Amiga Msx I have checked other sources and it says Apple II DOS Atari St Yes it was on a classic system and not the NES, SNES, Jaguar, or GameBoy Advance unless you meant the arcade game? About the 3d game. Surprisingly it has nothing to do with the original Since it is on DOS any other system that could run DOS would count I guess There is also a port of the game on GBA Dev. I forget the website but it is a GBA dev website.
  11. Look when the atari was out and around it was just a side dish on life. Nobody took it serious at all and it was of no concern asides the business people who invested into videogames. Even the computer games that was popular at the time that out weighed the atari. When the NES, SNES, and Genesis was around it had a common ground and many people was into it. Such a ground that it is a type of media format to many people. 1970's videogames with there pitch blackgrounds and beep, beep sounds along with qaurter popping action was completely diffrent to the Genesis and NES days. There might have been some echoes but nothing where you could compare the two on the same level. There is no way you could put them on the same level asides people buying them in cart format. That is all. Playing red tank versus blue tank in no way the same as playing Streetfighter. That is a huge gap. That is all I am saying presently on the subject of why a SNES or Genesis is not to be considered class gaming. Saying classic is just a makemup word to make people feel they are old when in truth saying cult classic is to make it look like some sorta bad thing and not to be taken seriously.
  12. Okay this article is dumb. They just want to do a census and get our racial, age, and state of mind. You gotta join to respond to IGN. that article is short and gives no information what so ever. 1. ET did not cause any crash it was Atari trying to get people buy there stuff. E.T. on atari was a joke to begin with. 2. There was no creative support from the west. Just a bunch of niave business people who was living in the seventies. Japan had many things going on like. Duck Hunt Alley, Game and Watch, MSX, MarkIII, and various of other computer game systems. The Brits had the Commendore at least. 3. There is no perfect port of anything. There is never sappose to be a perfect port of anything. People of today whin and cry about House of the Dead on the Saturn and even compare it to the Wii and 360 game. I own DK and DKC for the 2600 and it plays just fine. While I could understand the hardware ability was there a big diffrence? I even own Congo Bongo for the MarkIII ( a DK clone ) and even that game is fun. 4. Pac-Man is Pac-Man. I mean what would anybody really want out of Pac-man? I play the game no diffrent then I played it at the arcades. I might add the game is better on the system then the arcade. 5. When you get down to it. The first real game system from America to be successfull is the X-box. With PC support and the ability to run Windows 2000 it even made PC games from the past popular. The Atari was a success then the X-box is the first to gain respected fan base. Even if that fan base is over flowing with FPS players and Everquest(DAD) fans. 6. Lastly like I mentioned in my previous post. During 1985 present day everything was a okay. Videogames was barely developed and yet during that time there was a balance in the world that had nothing to do with computers. then 1995 rolled around and we had that balance of reality. A balance where all those things talked about in 1985 was comming true. However when you get down to it, having things undeveloped and loose was the best way to go. However the view of videogames never changed in the west. No matter how much we try to make it look like a type of media we never really accomplished anything. We hold videogame expo's when the real expo's are in Japan and the E3Expo before that is practically gone. When we do have them in USA it feels like a gay rights parade. Parents, goverment officials, and even advertising has used videogames like a crutch allways affecting game releases. 7. Oh yeah also Videogames was just something that everybody was trying on at that moment. They never took it seriously and companies was prepared to back out of the bussiness from the start.
  13. I know somebody who does but that person is in a manogamus relationship and never goes outside. I understand why you would but the only reason I get boxes is to complete collections.
  14. I was also thinking about era? An Era is at least ten years long while a generation is five years. Carts have been in consumer use for at least twenty five years. Soon they are going to release another type of media storage when we reach ninty years old. I could imagine a single flat slat that could store everything you own and is smaller then a credit card. So what if they do. It has nothing to do with you. The more people give into this calidascope of fear of being old the more they waste time. There is nothing old about Cartriges, Flash, CD, and other storage of memory is just memory. A cartrige is basically Memory with the battery, extra memory, maybe even a 3d chip or two, and it's own cartrige that could have a variety of ports including a CD player. The rise of Electronicly Stored data devices ( digital ) is only a phase. Buyers are pigeons and your not a pigeon your a exprienced buyer. Why do you need this stuff that has nothing to do with you? The only reason why there is no Cartriges is that is that Compact Discs, and Flash has become ludicrisly cheap. More important is that while the cost of living has increased manifactures would rather dump the excess weight of cartriges to save pennies and continue to charge big prices to rack in the bucks. Basically all you gotta do is just ignore the technology and continue on with your life. If you start playing follow the leader then your just going back at sqaure one. Back to playing with icons, pressing buttons, and smiling everytime something works. Do you really want to go back to that after knowing what you know? Yes most consumers will keep on buying and buying no matter what not knowing these are computers. Not knowing the actions of these companies, not knowing the quality and effort put into releasing products or it's past life. However you know the truth and do not need these products. However the faith of any products relies on it's buyers. However videogames is treated as a toy, a non-important object, what Shogun Assasin considers death, a waste of time. Not a type of respected Media. Nobody cares about videogames asides makers and us the big adult consumers who should be making games. We have families and families are dumb. They waste so much money and so many resources like a tornado of endless destruction. Only families will keep this digital nightmare alive, and only they will end it. The most we can do is some how stop DVD, Flat screens, Electronic Cameras, and even Flash storage from taking over everything just by ignoring it. Like that song of Just ignore, just ignore. If you ignore it sooner or later it is going to die out. Lets focus on the real problems. Israel practically owning the Gaza strip, Gas prices that makes people think Digital is better, the usage of pesticides in the kitchen, and even pirates of Somolia. These are our true problems. Then there is the biggest problem like Biggots and parents who create gang members, uni-bombers, and school shootings. These are the problems we really have to look into. A bigger problem is people is that if everybody keeps calling things old then they will get old. There is nothing classic about the SNES, or Genesis. These are regular systems that many people still play today. I will say for Atari since Atari is just beep, beeps, and mini games. I mean that is completly differnt from the SNES. If we keep making up weirdo names for things then we keep dumbing down our own exsistences. I was not around for the first generation of videogames when they was first released but I do know this. When I do play those games I could imagine space oddessy, or even a type of animation of randomness that comes together to form a reality that people can relate to. Hell I just can't stand how writers of post 2001 still try to put Arcade games on the same level as somebody who grewed up with 32-bit RPG's and 2D Fighters. I remember when the N64 made many appeareances as a futuristic device. How they had cameo's of Mortal Kombat, and even thou it does not concerns us, there was Atari game systems and even Final fantasy being a cameo. Now I see the Pac-man and Mario Brothers, or something in that nature keep getting mentioned. It is like they are trying so hard to get into the minds of gamers without knowing what they are about. Ah sweet release
  15. Basically whatever Rambo said. I am going to keep on buying games ( especially cartriges ) until somebody makes a better invention then the videogame.
  16. I will tell you that in all places I ordered stuff from. For some weird reason all my orders would get delayed when I order anything from Europe.
  17. But that costs money and anybody else here could do the same thing
  18. yarrrggggghhh! pirate cart maybe I be looking into that yarrggggg!
  19. Your not making any sense? They simply redesigned the product to keep costs high on the cosumer end and made it appear smaller to make it look more high tech. They did not do it for the consumer they did it to keep people intrested in the product for there own profit. The same for any other system rereleased over and over again. This is what all people do to any hardware product to keep people buying the same product over and over agian. The same with Software products and how they add more features or make the GUI look diffrent. There has been barely any advancements in the assembly line for years other then it has become exceeding cost effective to mass produce smaller products. Just smaller chips being manufactured by smaller machines. About one chiped systems. Your talking about substituting the actions of a original systems design. This is basic emulation that people have been doing for years on there PC's even before the 1990's.
  20. Thank you for reminding me. The more smaller you make something the more the cost rises. With the idea to keep costs up ( as with the PS2 ) the parts would sapposively become more expensive produce in a smaller package. Meaning the more smaller you got with the system the more cost effective you had to be with price range of the parts. What is kinda funny is how the CDX is practically the size of a CD player.
  21. Here is the big diffrence. 1. SEGA redesigned it to keep costs high. It is what companies do to keep people buying the same product over and over agian. 2. The design resembles the PCE Super CD rom system. Which looks cool so SEGA tried to do it like that way. It is practically the same design. However the PCE is just so darn better infinitive times 3. They made it propertory. Meaning there is no other adapter that you could use ( unless you went to a sophisticated electronic store. ) with the Genesis II but the Genesis II kind. The original Genesis could use the PCE/ATARI/SMS video plugs and could use the same power AC a SNES, NES, PCE used. 4. On the third note. Since the Genesis II is a propertory system and could only use it's own connectors it was limited in Video and Audio Quality to. However this is only fact based on the propertory AV connectors. Meaning it has the same AV qaulity as a regular Genesis but if you could find other connectors that could work with it then you would get better qaulity AV. 5. The only other thing is the video modes and the Sega Master System/Mark III playback that differs. Otherwise this system is just as good as the original.
  22. MAME basically has been around for many many years and is multiple arcade emulator. Most arcade games is emulated perfectly on MAME while others are not. About getting Mame files all you have to do ( whatever you search on ) is input the name of the game in most cases. There is also a couple of Arcade cabinents that is made for MAME if you wanna play it like old school. The best part about MAME is that it is often being used with Kalleria. Meaning you can play online all the time. The only bad thing I dislike about Mame is there is somebody with Mame PSP out there. Personally Mame is great and most games will run on lesser hardware. However games like Killer Instict II that uses alot of 3d or even Mortal Kombat 4 needs alot more juice to run. Buying the Mame files is kinda weird. Since it is just somebody out there who collected all the files.
  23. I brought this game for the original reason. I remember I got attacked for no reason for this game ( but then I was skipping school to play this game. This game is just as fun as before. With nice camera angles, an okay story line, and funtastic world you could only find in a Gameboy game this is one game you gotta get. Personally $25 shipped is way to low for this game. I Think of it like the first 3D Secret of Mana game or Sqaure soft doing Geomon. Pretty much your basic Japanese RPG game that falls into the adventure catergory.
  24. Well to most people in the USA it is just a OOOLLLLDdddd toy. I remember glearing at those SNES controllers when I was younger. I would think " wow, neato, and to the max " and then imagine sniffing and biting there plastic goodness. I wonder how those controllers smell now
  25. There is alot of games out there. It depends on your taste. If you have a Super gameboy then try anything that comes to mind. Everything is up for grabs since the Gameboy games was mostly ports of there console counter parts.
