  1.

If you are on Facebook, join our Trak-Bombers group. Dan Kramer, the Atari engineer who created that very Trak-Ball, is an admin there and active participant.

There's also an active 5200 group:

We're not in competition at all with AA here [unlike some other Atari themed websites]. In fact, we mainly point back to the site but sometimes it's easier to find a post there with an AA link than it is to search through the forums here for specific info.

    Wow! Dan Kramer...that's cool.

Thanks, but I'm not on Facebook. :)

  2. Congratulations on getting a 5200!! :) It is one of my favorite 80's gaming consoles and one of the most underappreciated. Now next you must get is the atarimax SD multicart. A true must own!

    AtariMax is already on order.

    Now I'm looking for a Trak-Ball controller.

BTW, 5200 Defender is now my favorite port of this game!

  3. Looking for a complete (i.e. no broken tabs) 5200 flip top joystick compartment cover for my 2 port console.

It appears that Best Electronics no longer carries them (Page 158 5200 Smoke colored Flip Lid cover CO18952 Sold Out!)

*Edit* I would be interested in a 2 port shell (top half or set) if someone has a non working unit and they would like to make a few bucks.

** Joystick compartment cover received. -- Thanks Henry Lee!

  4. Picked up my first 5200 last night and promptly broke the tabs on the joystick cover. Checked the Best Electronics website and they are sold out of the covers ...

Any ideas on a replacement cover? Not sure I could/should try to glue back the tabs.

  5. I just looked at the box artwork, and it is indeed on the back of the box in the bottom-right corner. I must have missed this when reviewing the box.

    ..Al

Great! Now you can re-release the box and those of us with the original can make millions, right? Isn't that how this works? ;)

In all seriousness, I happen to have this box and never noticed the Atarivox reference. The box art is really cool.

Thanks again for the wonderful games PMP.

  6. I made it out to YESTERcades in Redbank, NJ today.

    Pros:

    - They charge $8.75/hr

    - Nice mix of classic arcade cabinets

    - All of the games seemed to be well maintained

    - Classic consoles (including a 2600 Vader) available for play

    Cons:

    - Star Castle is listed on their website, but was not available (maybe it moved to their other location?)

    - Some cabinets but up against each other and you end up rubbing elbows with the person next to you (i.e. Galaxian cabinet)

All in all, was not a bad experience. Pretty crowded today, but there was a Super Smash Bros tournament going on, so this may not be the norm.

  7. Merry Christmas!

So I just finished putting together the kid's trampoline, in the rain... So after that miserable adventure I decided to reward myself with some quiet collection time :)

I love the Starpath games for the 2600. Something about the sound of a 65k modem, 80s cassettes and 8 bit games just feels like a little piece of heaven. It's like the ultimate retro party wrapped up in an awesome gaming artwork package. I have most of the Starpath collection and added Party Mix, Sword of Saros, and Survival Island not too long ago:

All I need now is Rabbit Transit and Frogger

I love the Atari Lynx and have a pretty complete collection. There are a few items I haven't added yet though but now I'm a little closer:

One thing that struck me when trying out the sun visors was the extreme viewing angle. Those old LCDs even when new were pretty finicky.

But now for what I'm most exited about:

So this is a gold painted Lynx I and a California Games that was given away as part of a contest done by a UK distributor.

Well that's it from me from now, Merry Christmas!

I've always wanted The Official Frogger myself. Sadly, this game is hard to come by, and when it does show up, it’s usually for big $$. This game is the reason I purchased a Harmony cart and am glad I did so. :)

    Thanks for posting.

  8. Mine arrived yesterday and I opened it this morning. Lots of stuff packed in the box (see some pics below).

In addition, there were a few books, 1980 game mags, quite a few game manuals (thank you) and an amazing amount of clear box protectors (thank you again).

First order of business will be to watch Ted on Blu-Ray this afternoon.

    Thanks Santa!
