  1. This is exactly what we need more of, source of parts from other items. Many of the parts used in all machines and devices of a decade are shared just like this. A cross reference database not unlike manufacturing source databases and cross reference books of old made for our modern day needs. This used to be the case for automobiles as well saving a person thousands when sourcing parts for their cars. Same part different vehicle and different call out numbers assigned by the company producing the vehicle or device.
  2. OS-A?, but That was supposed to be swapped out for the 800's eons ago in the NTSC world for B, but PAL world seems to have lost their B, maybe someone can fill in the bits from NTSC B for Pal land. What is the current requirements for TONY memory computer wise etc. in any event? If someone comes along and says it doesn't work but they have CGIA etc, cause you know ... it might work or not.
  3. AI as they like to call it will 'find' what they would call 'useful' to their cause answers. It will give workable answers to those systems, platforms, and items that they have given it a proclivity to select. It will make of mess of things they deem unworthy or wish to go away. It's going to follow silly trends and 'viral' ascension spires. For these very reasons it will be of limited utility to those who truly wish to create or those that actually have a mind of their own.
  4. Sounds like that 'trackball' is working in joystick compatibility mode, for silky smooth gameplay on games etc the support it, you need to mod it for true trackball/mouse mode or use a true trackball.
  5. You can follow any of the video clearpic or cleanup threads, I would consider a better double or quad shielded video cable. That means shield around each signal and the shield around all of those. The refresh noise can further be reduced by the above mentioned mods and the Freddie cap fix on some models. A slight mistake on some PCB left Freddie noisy, it's also noted on the forums.
  6. 8 bit horror? The myriad of 'repair' gone wrong over very simple problems. Practice on scrap cheap china pcb crap before touching your Atari. Remember it's old school lead solder at lower temps, not ROHS lead free high temp solder... the traces can't take that heat! Nor can most connectors and jacks from that era. The HORROR! -it's time to fry the alien on the glass not your Atari Geister, I'll take mine medium to well done!
  7. or have them marked as such so it jump to the next slot that has something. so the latter in an efficient manner if possible
  8. Looks like the common package to me, minus a piece of paper or so. a number of years back someone was clearing out cases of these.
  9. this is kind of why I think all should rotate even if empty, that way when people mount after a rotate it goes into the rotation correctly. It can still skip the empty or blank slots programmatically until it hits an image so you don't have keep pressing the button.
  10. if the disk is blanked or damaged like that I'd mabe name it blanked blah bah disk or something so it doesn't wander into the world. You know how that kind of happens every now and again.
  11. you mounted an .xex as slot 2 that is not a disk image .atr it won't rotate once it performs it's check.
  12. Zip ties on chips is a good move especially when in adapters or carrier board, I highly recommend it. @woj When chips and adapters are stacked then tend to work themselves out and more so when transported/shipped somewhere. This is a matter of physics, the further from the pcb the easier to topple the tree.
  13. I agree the puzzle cipher key show be on the flip side of the disk in the Real adventurers Challenge Edition or what not. Or make it part of a difficulty selection. Atari games were great because 'Grey Matters' (grey matter) (brains)
  14. where is your blank disk made by SCoG? That is the one that needs be verified as recognized or not by FujiNet...
  15. Correct it was direct towards the FujiNet crew, as a method that might be implemented for rotation so it won't stop rotating at the real drive slot (the empty FN slot), internally they could consider a using a skip this external id 'character' or 'byte' routine and continue on, only passing the correct internal id #'s to itself and SAM after it finds a valid internal drive ID. leaving the blank disk or external ID alone.
  16. @tschak909 might be interested in control data plato lessons on a disk stuff might be some helpful insights to apply or to revisit and enjoy
  17. It sounds like a shoot for the middle and make it more workable idea would be 12345678 ^^^^^^^ slots 12x45678 fn device id's XX3XXXXX std device id's rotate 24x56781 XX3XXXXX although I wish we had 16 slots for SD X and other DOS that support 15 or so drives (well 15 physical drives, 0 being current etc.)
  18. accelerated 3,200% took 16 hours? So we won't be watching this on our real Atari if that's the case. Interesting exercise, how long between frames being captured? Automatic trigger or fully recorded then edited ?
  19. Firmware manager doesn't accept the XEGS C1011687 as single plugin? Seems odd. But I hadn't tried it yet.
  20. POST your .atr's that you are using and a capture of your monitor/debug info that will show each step and the response on the way. That info is obtained using a usb cable the the FN and it's flasher software. Might shed some light and see how it does or does not recognize the disk.
  21. Just include the changes as an additional note, or another way to look at blah blah. Why replace stuff, when it can supplement or be an example.
  22. Don't let the worms out! Herding cats is also not recommended!
  23. The FujiNet can not swap physical drives outside of it's own hardware. Only a PBI device or DOS can internally route drives in that fashion even though the actual real life hard coded ID's remain the same. There are also more ways of reassigning those as well, a logical reassignment at one level, a device level in the os as another, etc. In order for FujiNet to function the way you wish, it would have to borrow elements from Black Box, MIO, or a DOS with that capability. Remapping ID's is not the same as swapping slots within a device. Even some of the PBI devices have to watch dog activity to keep certain very very very rare instances of software from going to a Real Physical drives identity. FujiNet would have to be told a slot has a real drive (as polling each time would be slow) and it would have send the code to remap a drive to the Atari during boot or reboot. While possible, I am not sure how much memory would be eaten or the incompatibility that would manifest with whatever software. WarpLoader from Atarimax or loaders from cartridge devices could shed some light on how they would go about some of it while the MIO/BB/cartridge storage would contain some of the other parts of what is needed, while a couple DOS's allow for such things, Hardware/PBI does it best. Some carts have a softOS to do the dirtywork though and as a result it gets over written. If FujiNet were PBI or had a companion PBI card to link with (ala AVG etc) it would have a much better shot at what you wish for.
  24. trigger diode on that line might stop the flow and noise, just for giggles, messing around with fix hacks can be fun and rewarding, replacing it of course would be best. Always rewarding to work around an issue.
