The horse needs a breather more than I do.
nearly every thread ends up like this. woo.... hoo... just rename every thread at this point.. it's always the same...seems like everytime(almost)..without fail...
Can't any other computer discussion or comparison happen without this? Nope, because they just cant help it. They have to insert it, no matter the topic or discussion as it will inevitably become this thread... completely sad. This has been slowly killing the forum really, it's beyond boorish, and because we only get a tiny reprieve where it doesn't happen, perhaps a shiny thing- a glimpse before it happens again... Yes finally some nice new good talk about **** blammo it's just about this again. sigh, snore.
rubber stamp. I gotta get that fix going in every thread. Topic be damned, just have to do it, and if you have the nerve to try to get back on topic the C-stoppo bands together to bury you in more of it or it will make some comment to keep it right where they want it. Kindly feigning concern if you are okay as the drum head continues.

gah the glue factory has restarted with it going way of topic... zx spectrum is the comparison topic.... not commodore... but hey any chance to spread commieism is never missed.... Tramiel vs Tramiel... who had the best computer... bleh.... meh... let's compare crap a half decade or more apart. I had no issues buying crap for any computer, be it Atari, Commodore, x86 whatever even up until 1996.
This is the redirected regurgitated thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends, some people started posting in it, not knowing what is was, and they'll continue posting in it forever just because, this is the redirected thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends, some people started posting in it, not knowing what is was, and they'll continue posting in it forever just because, this is the redirected thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends, some people started posting in it, not knowing what is was, and they'll continue posting in it forever just because, this is the redirected thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends, some people started posting in it, not knowing what is was, and they'll continue posting in it forever just because, this is the redirected thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends, some people started posting in it, not knowing what is was, and they'll continue posting in it forever just because, this is the redirected thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends, some people started posting in it, not knowing what is was, and they'll continue posting in it forever just because, this is the redirected thread that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends, some people started posting in it, not knowing what is was, and they'll continue posting in it forever just because, this is the redirected thread that never ends....

Burn notice was a show, one of lines of the show is ... You know spies. A bunch of b*tchy little... -Sam Axe speaks these words in one of the episodes and then it becomes part of the show opening... Nothing to 'buy'. Just a cultural reference that would not be made today. It would end the show before it started.
So there is nothing to 'buy' just. I know you are paranoid and that's fine. I suggest aluminum foil.

um the shift control letter and numbers sequences are used by MyIDE, MyBIOS, AVG carts and the like... it may depend on the OS you use and whatever keyboard you're into using. Using the diodes erstwhile may be changing resistance and voltage levels as well and may have brought you're circuits into the proper levels so you can see the combinations... so if you your diodes give that functionality back I'd say it's a winner.

by that measuring stick 80% of this stuff is rare... almost everything was mail order in most of the country for software and computer stuff
mail order houses were the thing.... as were independent software houses, and independent programming entrepreneurs. So it's all super rare [email protected]@k amazing stuff!

I wonder if the Atari 48K could make such cool games as on the ZX Spectrum 48k.
You know it can... You'd be one to do so just for the fun of it!

okay I think I see some issues with the conversation, delay is two separate items, there is the delay for color adjust phase on the gtia (labeled as such on the schematic pin on chip) and there is the half clock delay responsible for artifacts. These are two different 'delays'.... or advances
In the Atari they are intertwined to a small degree, voltage is a big factor, and the capacitors used as well, they provide cleanup, shore up voltages and pass signals... That is why there are so many fixes.
I am certain that any component left out being placed back in circuit will be an improvement- this is in regard to the original 800 and sccc, there were some mistakes in the original machines, some had a wrong value component that messed with impedance, but that's listed time and time again over the forums.
If the cap was left out of sccc I am sure he'll give you the best location to but it back.
as to the color clock artifact being off, well that might be a firmware and or component fix. I'd like to hear from Bryan and see what thoughts he might have on it. I was able to affect artifacts on the 800XL messing about. But you are only interested in the 800 for now. though they are all built from the same origins...

the crappy usb cords are a big issue, running an Atari in brownout level supply is hard on the chips. The other issue with many usb wall supplies is simply how dirty the power is, noise and ripple.. most of them are only designed to pulse charge a battery and let the phone/battery + circuit combo act as a filter. If you really have to, try to stick with only the best of the USB supplies or any of the great power supplies we already have or are made today... USB wall, and buck converter type supplies are a crap shoot, as are the usb wires... some wires put out 5.2 without a hitch, others on the same stuff put out 4.5 which is terrible! .7 drop!

does that mean it's become too easy?
just kidding skr. You often comment that you could play better, so when you beat it straight away I had to take a shot
I am glad to see your enjoyable play. The game is fun.

tf_hh are you saying the production run does not have the gtia cap? I ask because you were talking about the prototype not having it. and wanted to be sure. You are correct that it should be there.

you just can't win, some want a silent loader, some want a beeping loader, some want a music while loading experience without beeps, and some want a music loading with a beeps.... f***********CK
-
chop off everything but the 5.2 volts line and ground and wire it up to the wires of the Atari connector you chopped off the ingot... boom done only 2 wires involved
-
Not really, as most didn't have a prolific multi run like Atari did... with lots of machines over time, and the later engineers didn't consider things like that while churning out 2 or 3 or more stylized machines per run.. 400/800 600XL800XL1200XL (and more) 65XE130XE800XE XE GAME system.... not mention all the machine that made it out as limited/prototypes or not at all and the add to it the 5200 and it's variants... The guys forgot lots of details on each...
The Apple had it's own issues with no lower case letters or color at one point, they went with artifact colors only at one point and so on.. APPLE II + etc slowly changed a number of things....
cost reduction and other things happen stuff gets left out or added/changed
-
It breaks some and fixes others... all in all it's a wash.... using the inversion pot combo get you in the neighborhoods....
if you fix it to 800 colors then jingle disk is wrong if you fix it for flight sim then ultima is wrong... and around and around you will go... so the only other step possible (which discussion surrounded) would be to provide for all 4 artifact possibilities plus inversion... this was opening up a can of worm as most people couldn't get through the choices provided... someone would scream about having to put a switch on or opening it to change it and this and that.
I personally like the idea of switching through them all... so who wants to shoe horn this out of the uav or make the UAV 2/SCCC 2... but don't forget that the whole of it needs to be checked for NTSC as well as PAL.... good luck, I can't wait to see what you make!

modern sets aren't happy with some old dvd player, vcr's, game systems, computers, visualizers... the problem isn't all of those old things... it's crappy lcd tv's and their firmware... not decoding and doing all the things even the cheapest tv set did back in the day...

The C128 is the only Commodore that remotely was worth the space it took up from a technical stand point in my book. The Atari was always the better machine, and was the one I always went back to, the one that has always been in use... so S-100, Atari, sometimes Apple, and every now and again TI/TRS.... Commodore was always because we had to, not because we wanted to, with the exception of the 128 which was interesting. As for the next gen... only the TT/Falcon/Amiga had any interest or character... the STe was because we had to and it was a better Mac than a Mac.. go figure...

replace the reset cap on the 1200xl... it's gone jittery... then you should do better

back in the day there were guides to the bar fight on this and that BBS, which is where the pirated game was circulated... but no one would know about such things. should be interesting to see what turns up. or if you do get the brawling down to an art, what guides will be written again.
