  1. as stated before the pal/ntsc check is supposed to be used to allow the coder to adjust for the very slight differences needed between the two... like color numbers, and deferred versus direct vbi related code, as well as yanking a scan line from some insignificant line on the screen... lets not forget that ntsc has more frames in a given time period.... but that's another story... the only stuff that should be impossible to convert should be PAL-60 modified machines that are crammed up tight with code
  2. they normally do not fail as a whole, the console keys are what fail... I suspect some other issue the actual keyboard connector on the mother PCB or shaving the keyboard flex by half a cm or so may be helpful if a person isn't careful during disassemble they sometimes crack the flex traces where the flex goes into the keyboard backing plate or where it goes into the mother pcb connector
  3. You forgot I spent some time in the very beginning with you on/about The Learning Phone.... yeah they re used our term type... that was patched, and the speed was turned up. It worked very well, only telnet translation was screwing it up.. raw connection worked well enough
  4. somethings broken then... I pass what you say on to the others... maybe another flashing of the Fujinet is in order yet again.
  5. the way we used to handle it when we couldn't wire up was dip switch or NVRAM settings for how the signals worked, we could set up almost any modem/device to act somewhat like another we currently trying to use modem carts like telelink, the learning phone and other with fujinet.. an existing base of modem products that used the 850 and their carts/software with #fujinet.
  6. is the R: Device abstracted from the emulated modem? if so, is there toggles or switches to simulate control lines being wired on or off? Looking into the 830 Modem and software that uses it... there appears to be a problem with possibly polling (not sure)... and also.. possibly virtual wiring it would be good if we can take the virtual serial cable coming in from modem devices and set the condition of cts, cd, etc... not the lines going out to the modem but rather the lines coming in from devices.. the outgoing lines, I am pretty sure are handled like an 850/BB/MIO should(at least I'd hope they are... I was conversing with someone and couldn't get a feel for what's at play other than those thoughts... consider a 300 baud acoustic modem 830 and an 850 interface with telelink cartridge... which also made me ask and consider... does the #fujinet follow and allow software R: driving... where it is soft loaded from disk or cart and communicates without the fuji850 polling the driver in like a real 850? Can the virtual modem set control lines? that might allow us to trick the 850 portion into thinking cts or CD some such wire is always high etc.
  7. That check was never meant to lock a program out, it was meant to allow the proper version of a game or portion of code to run with a caveat that a cartridge might display that it won't run on such and such system if the wrong OS or PAL/NTSC system were detected.. but today... the carts and banking methods negate almost any need for that either The check seems to only get used for locking out these days...the opposite of it's intended purpose..
  8. The Full game of PANG works, just press O or P to turn on/off the sound.... I was just playing it a few seconds ago at 192k... on the Peterson...(you made me dig some stuff out) Bomb Jack I'll search for... Your full version of PANG is what rev?
  9. It's a choice in the games options.. I only use real hardware... except when I am asked to test something for another specifically in or from Altirra(it's OS or drivers etc.) I compare them running in a real machines vs on Altirra that and a black box etc... handy monitors, task masters etc. but still real hardware
  10. I ran it without issue on an NTSC 320XE by toggling sounds... Plays just fine everything else is stock... Peterson Antic following XE don't know why it would get broken but whatever..
  11. are there duplicate games and I know them wrong? Pang works I tell you.. Unless it did and then it got broke for final release? Why don't you toggle some sounds like I said?
  12. Funny thing is, in the case of bomb jack, it's just the end of game screen... just a couple lines to big? vbi too great? that's usually what that looks like on screen for those issues.. Pang works.. you lose some sound or something... it would require a less cpu intensive playing routine... we may have that today... or a re distribution of the code.. but I play PANG and Bomb Jack just fine. with those adjustments..
  13. it doesn't matter about that, if you keep going on your Atari you will get there... and they will often help you out and you learn something and sometimes you may even win... it doesn't matter if you had someone teach you a thing...
  14. if it isn't NTSC I can't comment, it doesn't exist for my Atari.. The posted pictures and videos look great though
  15. can you set the percom id's ABOVE 1/2? ATR8000 sets up it's drives based on poll/what it sees at boot... if I recall correctly If you are changing who is powered up then you press the ATR8000 reset button or power cycle the ATR8000 I don't think there is a utility to add or remove assigned ATR8000 drives while in operation. I don't remember that at least... but power off drives and reset or power cycle sounds like something we did. If you start from a fully powered down system and never turn on the percoms are you still blocked? Don't forget to leave enough time for power to dissipate from the circuits....
  16. I like the recessed look! It allows stuff not to snag as well... very nice use of negative space!
  17. the ATR8000 works with the XF as drive1/2 on the chain and powered off though?
  18. It caught the wrong flight? or the only flight available that day? it fell off the plane to a boat? It's good to see it's back on track though
  19. Not sure if the percom isolates sio or is isolating sio properly... If you have a 1050 or other drive on with the percom still connected is there an issue? What happens if you pull the percom power cord?
  20. It looks like the team reworked a great deal of code and increased/gained speed and efficiency. And of course the graphics are handled differently I'd swear it was enough changed to consider this great game it's own port by all rights and merit. In fact it plays better... Nice job! Were there any insights from the C64 port that helped make it happen? More of this sort of this would be beyond expectation
  21. at $25.00 USD an issue I couldn't find anyone who wished to carry it... I tried... so lets try it this way... How many people would go to a site and order / pay for the magazine at $25.00 USD give or take plus tax? depending on the answer someone might be able to carry it...
  22. So the U1M itself is damaged...
  23. pclink, pcmirror and their equivalents, possibly fujinet... but I think he wants to do it by sneaker
