  1. That quote is exactly why liber09, incognito, ramrod, etc are all in keeping with the Atari vision. VBXE, Austin Franklin, Bit 3... Ultimate 1 meg, you name it are all a legacy of this. It's still an Atari because it was designed for this, though the expansion methods changed from cost cutting it is 100% legit to do all of it, so long as the core of the machine is still used as is it's architecture it's still an Atari the way it was intended. I think Stephen will be pleased that his personal favorite spiel about supporting and doing these upgrades is fully validated here. As we've all stated, it was designed for this to be done and happen since inception!
  2. While tracking information is more unified these days, sometimes you get more information one way than another. Some shippers also have expanded tracking at their hands but the customer does not. We all don't get or see the same information. It depends on the product the shipper has and uses as well as the recipient and what they have and use. The courier always has all the information, but the customers (both shipper and recipient) don't always get the full record and wording they'd like... unless they opt for premium service... this is not unlike ebay or amazon tracking in that you get delayed generalized tracking but if you can plug the tracking number or reference number in to the actual shipper used, you often but not always get more detailed information and in a more time sensitive fashion. Shipments from Canada and China used to appear stalled but when getting more detailed information you found out it arrived at port was unloaded at hub, moved to customs inspected, sent back to hub and transferred to the sorting unit and then out from there... this process usually doesn't appear anywhere and can take a few days or as little as a day. There are many variations and I paraphrase a bit. That is the gist of it though. furthermore there is an industry created to help sellers on these sites from getting unfairly hurt by the investigative automation of ebay amazon etc... I think one such solution is called Blue shipping or Blue tracking... they fill in that information so you don't get summarily ruled against as it feed the automated process the correct, compatible full tracking information to all those sites.
  3. though these were all basically pulled from... Hard Drivin' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_Drivin' and it's sequels... Race Drivin' (1990, arcade) Hard Drivin' II - Drive Harder (1991, Atari ST, Amiga, MS-DOS) Hard Drivin'(s) Airborne (1993) (unreleased prototype) Street Drivin' (1993) (unreleased prototype) Stunt Car Racer in the UK, Stunt Track Racer in the United States... was a microprose game for a number of systems! Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, MS-DOS, ZX Spectrum I wonder why the splash screen calls it a c64 original game.. stunts and stunt driver were also around by other publishers Our particular port seems to stack up very well against all of these other offerings.
  4. kinda figures there are issues when enabling PBI causes glitches etc... I'd retrace everything and compare before installing another one...
  5. True although there really didn't seem to be any bad reviews... I think tracking help is useful though. I really do have to agree @StickJock anything else is truly Nineteen Eighty-Four, also known as 1984- George Orwell had some interesting thoughts how stuff might unfold...amazing parallels
  6. nice idea logo grphx across the top on the second picture.
  7. That and tracking help should stay. As well as testimonials from his happy customers.
  8. Gorgeous, absolutely awesome looking!
  9. https://medium.com/@AdamThaler/how-to-convert-a-german-dhl-tracking-no-to-usps-50767086e37e all of this stuff used to be easy to find... these days you have to dig a little...
  10. okay for example, Fedex smart post once it gets to USPS, you can't see it most of the time... what to do??? add the numbers 92 in front of the fedex tracking number on the USPS site and tah dah... you can continue tracking the package without spending more money for the enhanced tracking products for either of the couriers. there is a list of this sort of thing, probably buried under the google sorting routine for paid or track the user sites.
  11. I think so too... people doing a job became a path for political commentary by John Oliver. This thread wouldn't exist if the usps did their job.
  12. Laughing my *ss off, you posted John Olivers take on things... no that's not biased at all... and that sure is political. Take your own advice... learn something. I did a deep dive on this over the years... take a look back even here on AA. And in full disclosure, have worked on sorting systems, related equipment and have many friends at Bell & Howell, the post office alike... (these are family friends and are generational) as also mentioned the Atari ST line was used in many a postal setting. At least they are honest about their feelings in the postal realm. They also wish the current crop 'did their jobs' You signed up for the job, do the job... don't wanna do the job, I am fine with someone else doing the job. If it's a terrible job beneath human dignity, nobody should do the job. If it needs to get done so badly, the idea that everyone has a price means the pay would increase so someone would do the job. That's probably why the other parcel services now exist. Notice how the glaring issue of simply doing the job even at the street level is never addressed? It's always about some other thing, that villain lurking in some opposing office somewhere...perhaps it's the wind, the weather, the alignment of the planets, stars, and galaxies themselves...
  13. Who has hatred, maybe you do. Poisoned? look at this diatribe you just delivered. I started out as a laborer in life. Don't stare down your nose at me and tell me about how menial workers feel. You seem to think it's okay to ascribe hatred on my part. Maybe it's your hatred projected onto others. Classic, you never used the service your commenting on, You never lived where the problem is... but you're 99 percent sure of everything without living in or being a part of the specific countries system. EMPTY and Disgruntled as your conversation is, 'as the customers unfairly try to blame the courrier'- why that's just bonus! If you felt in some way put out as you suggest, you could get another job. Our garbage/trash/ recycling men and women who pick up the trash every day are exposed to more possible covid contact than the letter carrier or package deliverer ever will. They get the job done, and they certainly don't carry on about everything. They do the job and have my greatest respect.
  14. It is February 12... and they are far from underfunded, miss managed yes... it's all par for the course though. And again, failing at the very last step of actually putting the letter or package in the mailbox or door has little to do with any of those other issues people dig up anyway. Pick and excuse any excuse, always and excuse. The sorting machines that sorted the extra stuff ran perfectly fine, and in the majority of the units didn't even use the back up or extra machines they had, they kept them out of service. No the electric company didn't come to pull the plug had it been switched on. There is no excuse for the final leg of destination failures. The only thing that currently impedes postal transport speed at the moment across continents (or between continents) is the lack of passenger flights. The pony express delivered faster and better under far worse, harsh and impassible conditions. I have yet to here we ran out of tractor trailers and contractors to move this stuff. All other delivery services figured it out. We are failing during the last miles mostly and that is sad. Junk mail (spam) seems to make it nearly everyday though.
  15. Get real, it's not that hard to drive to a location and deliver a package, which is essentially where they are failing. Our 9 year old newspaper delivery boy does a better job. lmfao. They don't seem restricted when dropping the mail on the ground and not picking it up, they don't seem restricted when throwing the packages 30 feet to a porch or up the steps they don't want to walk up, they don't seem restricted when throwing away the mail or packages, they seem to enjoy sleeping in their air conditioned postal vehicle though... I wonder what restrictions and resources are being denied them at this very basic level.
  16. lmao yeah that's what everyone is advocating, such red hearing b.s., no said disband the usps.. typical tactic people use is to make a statement just like that, never miss a chance for hyperbole do we? The may very well usher in their own replacement, and it won't be anyones wish, it will simply be the consequences of their actions. They need to do their job, just like every other hard working person who enjoys far less pay, perks, and (if any) pension. We want them to do their jobs, and do it well. This thread wouldn't exist if they had done their job
  17. You know you are allowed to take a break- just like any marathon, you have to conserve yourself, otherwise you risk dropping from exhaustion during the sprints. I don't know anyone who runs 60 miles the day before the marathon. I don't think they'd get out of the starting blocks... I am saying it's okay to take time off, smell the flowers, let your mind get itself together... play a round of whatever sport you like, a games, time with your kid, wife... anything to recharge the mind, body, spirit.
  18. I am making the case- config is beyond config, and as stated elsewhere by myself, that people should use what you provided to make their own utilities etc. to do what they want, perhaps will make stuff like they did for all other devices or the past perhaps their own #FujiFig oh wait I come around to saying just about the same thing in the last part of that quote... all this heavy breathing all the time over support for what you want in the first place.- okee dokee
  19. There is a prefix to add to stuff once the usps get it... I posted either the prefixes of where they were located on AA if I recall correctly. While there is no tool or interface... adding the prefixes and adjusting the tracking number as outlined, you should still be able to track it by hand.. I am sure someone here can dig all the same information up I did all those years ago. Post is here on AA and we will at least have slightly more information at that point. DHL is starting to branch back out in the Americas again... soon you will see the vans again. Who knows, maybe they will help replace that which our own is failing at
  20. It would be awesome to allow both modes of usage, if only the disk drive setup could be separated and small enough not to wipe out what you already have going on in memory... since this is not a PBI device, it can't keyhole and swap memory transparently. This makes the chore difficult. Perhaps a utility to use all those fine points of access might be made to do just what you want... probably using one of the devices Thom has already coded. It's reached the point we need utilities like those made for other devices from yesteryear. We need people who will write such utilities rather than trying to fit everything in the fujinet itself... my fear is the bloat will prevent other really cool things from fitting in firmware or pseudo firmware... let the fujinet team concentrate on the nuts and bolts for now... once that's done I am certain folks can make all the calls and menus they need to do things.
  21. configuration needs to be a multi-part system at this point, for seldom used, deep guts changes, and the all the the other stuff (TOS)... there could be a simple bridge between the systems. There is so much stuff and it can be broken down into disk operation, network operations, wifi stuff, etc... be as granular as is needed to make sense of it. This is configuration, not everything in the kitchen sink Atari master commander and chief.
  22. With the variety of capacitor types available in many footprints today it's easy to think they're all the same, howerver they have different properties that's for sure. They fail differently as well
  23. Keep the last used item at the ready or near the top of inventory to find again quickly maybe..
  24. Hmmm yeah, I personally don't attempt to break every boulder I see. That could be boring. So I don't do that. Sometimes games mirror parts of real life. That's cool in my book Everywhere you dig, can't be treasure. Archeology is an exact science
