  1. They are referring to the ram on the black box board itself...
  2. I had an ntsc 130XE that had a self test like that.... and another that was dead... I was going to my friend Greg's house to do some upgrade hacking and grabbed the good board with the extra test stuff by accident.... we destroyed it for parts... when I got home... I found out we killed the good one.... 1992 will forever be burned into my wetware...... Nice to know I wasn't hallucinating!
  3. lot's of good suggestions to make this better.... anyone up to doing what's been described?
  4. Now that's the way I like an eprom! One that refuses to lose it's data! I hate eproms that give it up too easy cause they are the ones that fail! Yep clean and reseat it all.... still funky? Prom... also sometimes the acard adaptors don't do so well... try another adaptor ide combination... hate to say it but the last time I played with acard adaptors two of the three kinds they were offering didn't get along with my hardware...
  5. I am not listed anywhere and prefer not to be in the future In this day and age all you see is sites and servers that have their data mined both high and low.... For some it is a big deaI and as I am required to keep it that way, not able to take those chances... like many others there are reasons for that... Trusting that the fellow who wants me to order for him also has to keep such things to himself as well... otherwise he wouldn't have approached me about it in the first place. As this is not a negotiable point for either of us... I stated... We hate to lose but in this case that's the way it's going to be unless something changes or a third party orders for us as a buffer... which by the way is the whole reason behind secondary bank accounts and pay pal for that matter....
  6. firefox 44.0.2 up to date...add on up to date and secure. realtime clock atomic us navy adjusted accurate. personal information can not go out unsecured. Looks like the web site wants just about all identifiable information short of a credit card without being encrypted on site before being sent to actual checkout. Name address e-mail.... Really would like to buy one but I can't put name address email on an unsecured server... Hate to lose out...
  7. Working your way thru you will see a couple of goodies.... looking at the list you also will find a crap ton of people who might know where stuff is or even still have hiding in storage or some corner of whatever their current business is..... A cold calling master should probably tackle this job.... you never know when a few hundred to a couple thousand of something will turn up again....
  8. I have plenty of ds dd disks with no hub ring... bought them that way... hub rings really don't indicate much... I disk without a hub ring can be either dd or hd
  9. I try to keep track of what is allowed, what is not, what is disputed etc. informal just notes to myself....keeps me out of trouble. Mostly
  10. If he changed his mind that's fine..... good to know... changing my list
  11. I guess I can only live once... put me down for one if I live long enough to see it.... it was meant to be! And thank you to all my friends in the 8 bit world who continue to provide good thoughts, meditations, and prayers. _The Doct
  12. This is what I got, when I connected to the site.... Your connection is not secure The owner of www.bitsofthepast.com has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website. Learn more… Sure enough... everything is in the open.... except your pay pal login.... I was asked to order one... and I was going to order one as well... Not sure what to do now...
  13. yes upload them they are not in the zip and he did release...
  14. You Sir, have settled it for me.... Thank you for a clear and concise answer! Consider me sold on it, that's a hard thing to do! Happily, _The Doctor__
  15. its' only bumping into the area ever so slightly... working around it somehow might not change it enough to break its compatibility... that part seemed reasonable... however adding all the density control might change the length of things significantly unless it could be written in the error handling spaces of 2.5.... Some people are amazing coders so anything is possible...
  16. What's the harm if someone does move things just enough and we get dos 2.5++ or whatever... if it only moves a little bit it might still be pretty darn compatible with just about everything anyway...
  17. To be sure... this will act just like spartadosx cart... turn itself on and off and work with rtime8 if we so choose.... or it's own internal clock getting along with other stackables like express!.... I just want to be very sure... I only ask again for this reason.... original spartax can turn off via software and on via software... so this reimage does exactly the same... we do not need to use a hardware switch to do so ... Correct?
  18. Following up on this.... has anybody scanned these and organized this... the disks are a mess in the archives and all of it used to be freely available.... thanks for the attention in this matter!
  19. whatever happened with this.... did anybody get and scan the atari classics magazine images.... all the archives are a mess without scans and wrong disks... this fella seems to have some...
  20. some notes... qume 242 qume 842 qume DT/8 Shugart SA850 Shugart SA851 Tandon TM848-2 Tandon TM848-2E Mitsubishi 2894-63 these are 1.6 M drives... and are listed as working in the office at the time....
  21. It's what I always used... and all the disks are formatted at the highest density... If the 8 inch drive is Double Sided High density and plays nice with the controller it should work... so it does not have to be a qume if it follows what the DT 8's and 842's did in terms of format capacity... There are a handful of drives that could do it.. We once used and actual Tandon mech in one of the other s-100's... that was long long ago..
  22. I hadn't got to rainbow walker yet.... are you saying the music is gone? I will have to call you when I get around to playing it then... keep a glass of something nearby to help the throat on waking!
  23. Thank you for returning ProWizard! and special thanks to those for reaching out to ProWizard as requested! You have friends... and as you traveled thru time we missed you in this space! _The Doctor__
  24. There were a few rom's for the 850... some transferred data flawlessly some did not, some would not boot properly other would boot everytime.... what I wanted to have done years ago... was to have all the different roms tested and one rom containing the best of all of them created. I only ever had one 850 that ran perfectly and that was way way way back..... it wasn't until I read some article in a magazine I found out why two of my later 850's weren't perfect... it came down to the rom.... more lost knowledge but I am sure if everyone compares roms we can figure it out again!.... in fact how about an upgrade to get the 850 doing sio as fast as it can as well as the regular serial ports.... I had a modified one that was lent to me when this was all serious computing and hated returning it to the owner.... never occurred to me to copy all that was changed at the time... just knew I loved it....
