Possible Cheap Alternative to SIO2PC-USB?
_The Doctor__ replied to mytek's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
this one has all the signal and is prob the best bet as posted earlier in the thread http://www.ebay.com/itm/321849173363?rmvSB=true a usual there are million of them within a dollar of each other on further search with all the control lines available it could be used to simulate all the peripheral with the right code driving it... -
ProWizard should make his image of firmware / setup available as a download with a brief how to do it write-up / video....... The masses would appreciate it with no doubts and a very happy community of MyIDE users would follow Without Marius the MyIDE would not be where it is today...Thank you for finding solutions to the these problems. Would love to use your MyIDE F1 exernal only image/workbook and you MIDEII image workbook user images. They sound wonderful _The Doctor__

looks like it depends on the network and who accesses what and how....unlike using telnet to access irc.... I shouldn't make any assumptions... Time to go back and read what supposed to be at the core of it all instead of what I perceive by observation... Just sent a larger line via web interface... as opposed to thru the cart and it's a different ball game..... did not realize it was limiting what I sent.... now I know

atr to atr no problem... pc mirror not so much

You just made me happy! My son plays sudoku, this might make him happy too! Thank you so much!

after they didn't bother finishing the last bios for myide flash 1... I am very reluctant to get MyIDE flash II..... it was like the last .05 and .0A realeases were so darn close... then 4.9 seemed to be good enough to work with mio etc... so excited...then you get ... oh on to other projects.... blah blah blah..... NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!! so I use 4.8.0A and hope for the best.... I gave the MyIDE II away because it looks like the same It will never be finished for ever and ever game again.... If they finished the best MIO compatible version for the MyIDE+F1meg and left it at that with only bug fixes for real problems my faith would be restored, I would allow my kids to buy more of the MyIDE line.......

This is working nicely....good job! -
I see some irc extends the nick up to 16 + 1 for a total of 17 char.. but it has to be done on the entire network, I haven't seen 256 as a continuous stream but rather sent as two 128 pieces.... going to have to dig further I guess......

cut after 90 ie 120 cut since a whole line would be wasted and some servers will prepend commands in front of a line 40 characters wrap 40 characters wrap 40 characters cut most it could spit out is 120 or three lines before moving on... this help greatly if using any irc functions and commands
-
in the irc.com file, a couple of simple issues to address, irc.com cuts off at 80 characters on screen output so it's nick:output to 40 wrap line then output to 40 cut... since a standard nick is 9 characters plus a dividing character.... total of 10 characters... the irc.com client should be modified to wrap twice and cut at 90.... that will make it follow the standard.. the divider is colon which is good..... when receiving a private message irc may send an asterisk or other flag... the divider should alter when receiving a private message. those two changes increase usability quite nicely... I am pretty sure you've already started working more deeply in the client ...

yep it's the same with many command line processor and dos flavors /? /help etc.

Weird grounding issue on 800 makes keyboard act flaky
_The Doctor__ replied to ACML's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Seen it before... glad you found it... best to gently pressure it back into shape and use double the tape to prevent it from rubbing/cutting thru again.. -
THE!CART... New 128MB FLASH Cartridge
_The Doctor__ replied to mega-hz's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
What?! I use a 1050 all the time... even to move stuff to flash carts.... the flasher could be coded to wait for a floppy swap.... I mean I could eat dinner while swapping disks, or even as you mentioned in earlier posts incrementally adding images over time as we go.... -
capacitors in the lynx die during storage....leave power applied and power button depressed for a few hours... if that fails replace the capacitors and it should run like new

yeah it might have worn thru some solder mask or be making contact with something it shouldn't.. tracking it down might take few minutes but tape could be a quick easy fix... not the route I would choose though -
They pricing system reference and trending system in ebay as well as people seeing these crazy prices is purely intentional to skew the pricing higher.. it is a form of price fixing... I have seen such high priced things ahem 'sold' an marked as paid when no such payment was made indicated as shipped and received to count as a positive full priced sale complete with feedback where nothing was truly sold shipped or bought... so long as the fees get paid ebay could care less..... now if a sucker sees the item for half that.... get the idea...... btw it is illegal to do this in a brick and mortar store.... just ask Jos A Banks... or any of the other stores that show inflated prices but really sell at sale prices all the time in fact the 'sale price' is indeed the all the time price..... and they got nailed for it just google a little.... With as long as this sorta online shell game has been going on... it's probably all ready in the works that regulations will be enforced about this sort of thing in the online world..... (wink wink nudge nudge)

pull and re-seat all the chips and make double sure all the legs are in the sockets, not folded back, out or broken off.... I have seen this behavior before... is it this or the CPU or the support chips?. make sure nothing is bent over or shorted on both sides of the board. lastly if the memory is in sockets rotate them bottom socket to top socket... If there is a bit error it will still be there but will move.... MMU flakey?... lastly try using a different memory tester that is thorough..... turn on the Atari and don't touch anything.... after re-seat etc.... wait about 18-20 minutes and see what if it is still alive and works.... Failed? you have an extra ram chip somewhere that you could swap it out in each socket and try each time?... that would eliminate one on the list then their is the swap all the chips one at a time method till you know what went bad method... after that your have a couple of soldered in chips it could be...
