I agree about the ghost graphic, but in true purist spirit.... how do they look compared to the original arcade -

13 of you got fed the full package according to the stats, maybe there should be 13 feeding the others ? I see Poland slurped some down maybe feeding a few other will make happy bellies on both sides of the pond! -

I am on the network check your software I see 3 seeders and I tested them out at 15 megabit per second,,,,they are active and maxxing out the small pipe.... so mess with the settings for ports etc. and see if you don't some success -
omg memories of using port redirection on linux to send xwindows thru the serial port and then to redirect it back again on another computer sprang into my head! I have no idea why m$ windows makes the simplest things so darn hard! oh yeah you could purchase a port redirector blah blah but you shouldn't have to! M$ don't forget to pay us money to 'sign' your drivers or it won't be allowed to run! unless you use a difficult workaround!

firstly plug it all together before plugging them in to power, you can blow the transformer fuse or the id select chips! next thing make sure the ID select on each drive is set to a different ID I would try them with one turned on and the other off at first.... that way you can be sure they are working as drive one first then you can set different id's afterwards The ID select is the slider switches in the back of the drives visible thru holes in the back of the cases

Ever notice how everyone attempts to say it's based on Apple Etc Etc... And yet Apple and Windows3.1 are based on other works... all of the windowing operating systems look pretty close to one another! GEM, GEOS, Diamond.... I think our GUI looks like OUR GUI and as far as the OS itself... so far it looks light years better than anything I have used/seen on my Apple II For those who really want to know what it looks like and stop the fanboy chatter http://arstechnica.com/features/2005/05/gui/2/ and of course other footage of xerox shows how they all continued down the same initial path. Only so much you can do different about any window in real life or the world inside a computer! So tell them it's based on the NLS, Alto, and XEROX STAR! That what all of the modern mouse, keyboard, screen computers look like and came from... I watched the actual videos of this being demonstrated, that chord input was a smoking piece of keyboard! He was fast with it! FJC you are a heck of a good guy and one h*ll of a coder! Three cheers from me!

virtual com ports are a part of ape as of the last registered version, you would have to wait for the apedemo to be updated for the vcp support to be added to that as well

Did this see completion as a finished product? -
The major hurdles behind you, clear open lanes ahead! That is indeed leaps and bounds ahead of where it all started. All the stuff you did before the re-write will always be useful in future and continuing projects and possible different modes of operation. Lightning fast....You are our hero of the moment.

one note... on failed disks, discolored or dirty disks.... please consider a light pre cleaning of both sides of the disk surface before putting it in your drives.... the oxides and materials of time can dirty a drive head quick and ruin the disk... sometimes a light disk and head cleaning can make a disk recoverable... just don't count on it working for to long afterwards as it had already failed and will fail again.... don't 'verify' it now works before running the archive procedure... that one attempt might be all you get.... do not use anything rough, capable of generating static, or put down a film. Do not use anything that strips the disk or it coating. Believe it or not disks are kind of lubricated already and the lack of lube kills disks and head... I should make it easier this way... practical mans way listed here... http://www.swtpc.com/knowledgebase/kbpage1.htm you really should look up the professional tape cleaning lube though.. is it close to factory. and once you have killed the bad stuff it's not a bad second treatment. Done properly and sparingly the disk should not be wet... more like shiny and dry.. you will not see the lube but you will know it is there. side not alcohol route ... don't use the stuff with dyes or colorings added.... -
I don't think Berlin has left the face of the earth but rather I would believe the ABBUC site is down temporarily and would expect it back within a day or so...

Two years later my dream comes true.... my card is finally configured and working,,,, Thank you Thank YOU did I say thank you? Chips are in the right slots switch set and resistors added! You rule!
-
so more work IS needed. I wonder what else will be found? someone here just might enjoy stripping a chip after all..... chip torturer!
-
one thing I have noticed... It may take many years but each time someone picks up the torch and eventually all the things do indeed get fixed enhanced and tinkered with till all the constraints get licked. This group likes to take the impossible and make it reality, or use skill and guile to work around it till it behaves like it should!
-
Nice digging kyle! You come thru yet again. Good info, now fried freddie xe's will be a cheaper and somewhat simple fix!
-
Freddie must have had some things important enough to hide from us then, too bad we still don't know. other than some simple logic we know it has a hand in address decoding and may help divide up the processor's address space into ram rom and the input output and may touch on helping interfacing external devices... does it provide buffers to protect outputs from overload, or protect sensitive inputs from static damage. is it robust enough to handle voltage level conversion when interfacing cmos to ttl? It might also use less juice to get things done.... anyone good with acetone and nitric acid having decent camera equipment wanna strip a freddie down and compare it against what is known?
-
This is one of the true joys of the Atari community. Thank you for working to bring more useful applications and utilities to the Atari! Thank you for making it right! -The Doct
-
It is kind of a shame that no one has thoroughly examined and tried all the possibilities of what freddie might do or be capable of.... quite a bit of real estate.....
-
ah so eventually hasn't happened ......yet..... but may..... wouldn't that be cool!

Atari 800 - Best Game Pack : Releases

adventure #13 Claymorge not found -
The simple hack kills the fluidity of the game a bit, already under stood the 50 updates in sixty frames.. dropping every 6th frame... was hoping to spread the code out and waste some time so the jerkiness did not happen. The math(calculations) needs adjusting for the movement instead how about drop every 7th frame so the game pace is slightly faster than PAL sort of a compromise position helping things out a little bit... we tend to pick up on patterns.. maybe odd frame will make it less noticeable...it's kind of the same quick hack why not try it? mind you it is easier to play now that it effectively sits a jiffy out ... but NTSC is 59.94 hz so a perfect 10 is not exactly what we need you know a little fudge factor! Love the efforts and it all does help.... one of my favorite games! Nice to see the clean up on the colors
-
interesting....indeed why that just plumb crazy! Check for the network verify it is there and to your liking set a green check mark in a box to show it is then...connect it to nothing and do nothing.....it sound like a leftover from the other project But seriously, is the R: device going to be emulated here... I see talk of R: and N: device maybe it can be for respeqt also?
