  1. Very exciting and captivating! Lots of great improvements on all levels The control options are very impressive for a 2600 game, and I love the addition of inertia. Really adds some "personality" to the player blob Presentation is also topnotch, on par with Lead. A few small suggestions, which should hopefully not be too difficult to implement: - any chance for a bonus life at a certain score threshold (say 2000 or 3000 points)? The game is pretty difficult! Besides, it's always a nice positive kick to get a reward in the middle of the game... - how about moving the status info (blue and green lines, lives, abs-orbs) to the top of the screen? I think it is easier and more intuitive to glimpse up than down in the middle of heated action. Score can stay at the bottom. That would also make the screen layout more balanced. - the stage titles add character to the game, but it would be nice to see them stand out a bit better. Two very simple suggestions: distinguish them from the rest of the intermission text by coloring them in the underlying theme color (e.g. green for "poison", red for "fire", etc.). add an empty line between the title ("poison", etc.) and "stage". - I feel the frantic action of the game is a bit broken by the open-ended intermissions. The player should not get too much time to recover from the stress At least the "Stage Clear" screen should automatically end after a reasonable time (though I love the music on that screen!) Hmm, just an extra idea (nowhere essential, but would be a nice touch) - what about the text parts being gradually "absorbed" (= disappear) before automatically moving on to the next screen? Nothing else I can think of, the game's already highly polished and pure fun (Almost like shuffling cards under a confetti rain! ) Of course, more stages would always be welcome and an actual ending very desirable! Thanks for giving us this entertaining creation! Eric
  2. Thanks for unearthing this one ! Really one overlooked gem. One of the few original and memorable games of the ST/Amiga era. Like those other 16bit classics (Sundog, Dungeon Master, Oids, Lemmings - can't think of many more), it did actually also integrate addictive gameplay and did not simply rely on impressing through its audiovisuals like so many publishers started to do in that period. What's particularly impressing about this one is the very well thought out control mechanism, making best use of the unusual serial controller,e.g. the mouse, delivered with those computers. (Thinking about it - the same applies to the other games mentioned above.) In short, a perfect blend of audiovisuals/gameplay/control: an integral entertainment experience!
  3. Too bad Hope things will work out again soon, alles Gute, Eric

    Sweet Jane

Same here - bought the CD for that song back then. I remember it was the most "upbeat" song of the whole CD
  5. He wanted it so bad I guess! Now he has 3 of them. Oh boy, you guys are really getting pathetic. Now you're jealous of Jose? Wanna tell the seller that he already has 2 ? You're really pulling one hell of a Beavis & Butthead act here...
  6. Nope. Wonder did not bid on eiether auction So Wonder was not the backup bidder on the 2000 either? Hmm interesting. Wasn't it the same (on both auctions) who also bought your System X proto on CTCW ? Here is the one I sold on Chuckwagon http://www.chasethechuckwagon.com/item.cgi...item=0000153257 Well, the winner of the CTCW auction has the same id as bidder 2 on the ebay protos auctions...

  8. Hmm, if I recall correctly it went for $2200 last autumn (incl. 2 lab loaners). Was set up as a regular auction but then ended as a BIN within a few hours... Some smart wiz got it, I believe (well done )
  9. First off, congrats to this already spectacular looking port of Donkey Kong to the CV. Your perfect CV arcade conversions are simply jaw-dropping As for DK Jr. , I would love to see that one included in the package as well. While it may not be as groundbreaking as DK, I think both definitely belong together. The gameplay of Jr. is the logical evolution of DK, and its story its smooth continuation. They are simply natural fits for another "collection".
  10. Please add me to the list - thanks!
  11. Hi Jon and looking forward to see you later this year Dates have been fixed: weekend of 24-25 October (+ preceding Friday activities of course ) Still a small question mark regarding the location, but that should be sorted out in the next couple of days - official announcement to follow shortly... Eric
  12. I could do that, but I cannot imagine how to enocde the two scores. Maybe I could do some PF scoring, but I haven't found a good way here too. What about color coding the paddles this way: both start all green. With every passing ball the losing player's paddle top and lowest lines turn red (he starts "burning"), and so forth, progressing towards the center of the paddle, till one paddle has completely turned red = game over. That should give an intuitive visual gauge of the game's progress and both players performance...
  13. Thanks for the link, didn't know much about that "Grauzone" singer. The song is pretty avantgarde for the time, but I don't think it aged that well.... And the singer seems to have gone through a funny metamorphosis in latter years - looks like he was trying hard to copy Michael Bolton (ok, that was in the 90's ) Here's a song that kept all his vibe: Fels in der Brandung And here's another timeless one from a badly missed poet genius, written in 92' : Like most of his texts and interpretations, it works on several layers and hits the nail on the head... Little known gem, but has generated quite a few cover versions: Unknown cover artist (Lost)
  14. Wow, you really got a soft spot for obscure, long-forgotten musicians I remember him, though not that song. Looks to be Wild, Wild, Wild . Actually he is extremely talented (and appears to have built up a successful existence judging from his website), but failed to achieve popularity due to his over-the-top vanity... btw, here are the translated lyrics for Kamchatka
  15. Didn't realize at first that's the band's real name ! On hindsight, quite fitting for a 80's glamour-punk group Talking about Russian music... Tuned in onto a report on Kamchatka on ZDF-doku the other day - and they were playing a catchy song in the background all the time. Had to find out and it turned out to be an '84 cult Russian song from the good old cold war days Very peculiar song, has a bit of Kraftwerk, Major Tom and "Eisbaer" feeling to it Love it - listening to it is like a time voyage, even though the singer was from the other side of the curtain and I only heard it for the first time a week ago: Kamchatka
  16. Yeah, they've got good beer in Kapfenberg, I heard. No way to survive in that wilderness otherwise...
  17. Got to give my vote to the "I, Me and Myself" guy = Iwan
  18. How do you manage to regularly churn out such simplistic yet terribly addicting games ?!? And again - like most of your games, this one is begging for two versions - a minimalistic and a full-blown arcade adventure... Hail to the king of "community projects" ! A couple of suggestions right away: - add a bonus object. A flower (rose/ tulip/ ederweiss... whatever. would be nice to have it bi-colored) on top of a block. Nothing lost if it's missed, but bonus points for getting it. Adds a tactical element to the gameplay. The type/color of flower could change with progressing levels to add variety and eye-candy... - could you make the bottom of the blocks triangular to look like spikes or better "thorns" (to keep in the mood of the game)? - building on that, the top of the blocks could then become safe, and running over them would change their color. A full re-colored (horizontal) set could then net more bonus points...
