  1. I am imagining what Dolly would look like on the Atari 2600. OH YEAH!

Although, I have to assume being Atari graphics that THEY would be a little more square!

I've seen a rare game, Sex Man. The game plays like pac man but with a twist. Not sure if this game was a prototype but the girl is sporting torpedos on her chest and the guy that's chasing her in the beginning of the game is quite happy to see her. :ponder: I guess they could model 9 to 5 after that!

  2. So I opened it up and found that the black plate looking thing underneath the switch was cracked, and in two pieces. I superglued them together, and the switch got stuck. I pushed it sort of hard and it became un-stuck, but not it doesn't self go up anymore. Awesome. Time for a new console I suppose.

You can pick up a parts one. If you can solder you can swap switches, etc. I'm sure Ebay has a few out there. All you need right now is the switch anyway. ;)

  3. Thank you for uploading a high quality scan of this! I'll finally be able to play this now! :)

My pleasure. Glad someone will use it. Maybe this will inspire me to actually play this game.

You should. I think it may be one of the more complex games for Atari. You won't pick it up in 10 minutes though but worth the effort I think. I know it's the closest I'll get to flying the shuttle! ;)

  4. ive bought a ton of these trying to get the console overlay i lost for my big sexy 6 switcher that came with space shuttle when i bought it back in the day and I've never found one. even got a shrink wrapped 2600 box that i opened and found the 5200 version inside... lol.

It's interesting you mentioned that. I had spoken with someone who mentioned that in an attempt to save money, later releases for the 5200 were indeed put in 2600 boxes with a sticker on the shrinkwrap to hide it. I thought the guy was pulling my leg. ;)

  5. I'd have to say Activision takes it from my experience. Almost all my games from them have the "plaque". Granted M-network was too cheesy(or had a reason not) to put on a label but definately Activision has more spotting than any other. Acidic adheshive I guess. Boo.

  6. Just curious as to how many people have Lochjaw and why is it so rare? Is it worth the money I've seen it estimated for? :?

The reason Lochjaw is rare is because of a copyright ingringement lawsuit that took place almost immediately when it was initially released. The game sounded too much like the movie Jaws. Because of this Lochjaw was in super limited quantities. I guess you could call this the Beatles Butcher album of Atari video games. Apollo would later release this game slightley altered as Shark Attack. Shark Attack was a pretty good seller, but the original version was Lochjaw.

Thank you for the info! ;)

  7. I have watched some youtube videos that put lyrics to mega man tunes so I popped in parker brother's frogger and made lyrics to both little tunes for fun. Now I want to make a youtube videos of my songs so the first step I thought was to get an emulator that can record game play. I find one but it won't work on my computer. I have a microphone and the video software but I don't know how to get the game play footage. I have never made a video before and have no idea what to do. Have any ideas?

I know you can plug an RC cable into the mic jack on pcs. It accepts external media; turntables, cassettes etc. All you may need is an adapter that accepts the RC cable from your atari to plug into an auxillary port in your pc. You may then be able to view it through Media Player or some other media software of the sort. I'm only taking a guess here. I've recorded music from a 4 track (analog) and have used the RC input to digitally master the recordings. I've never dabbled in video. Good luck in your quest!

  8. Don't know if your electronically inclined but you can take the board out and try cleaning around the power switch contact or see if it's come loose. Check the power jack connector too. If you can't see anything loose, cold solder joints or dust buildup...a new unit or power supply may be your best bet.

  9. I don't know if anyone has seen this commercial...it's the first time I saw it.

There's a boy sitting in the floor, his family in the background. He's got a 6-Switch 2600 in front of him and he's talking about how it's the greatest gift you ever got. They then show a screen of him playing Centipede and he goes "remember staying up all night getting 148,000 points?".

Finally, he says, this is the best...gift...

Then when he says "ever" he's all grown standing in front of a Lexus I think. Overall, I really liked the commercial...nice to see some love going to the 2600...and a 6-Switch of all things! I usually see a 4-Switch.

It was awesome just seeing it on the tube again!

  10. My friend just brought over a box of atari games and wants me to see if I can sell them for him. Can someone tell me what these are worth?

    Activision's Oink

    Activision's Crackpots

    Activision's Plaque Attack

    Atari's Combat (text)

Atari's Raiders of the Lost Ark (Silver)

    Atari's E.T. (Silver)

    Imagic's Star Voyager (picture)

    Atari's Circus Atari (picture)

    Atari's Yars' Revenge (picture)

    Imagic's Demon Attack (Text)

    Atari's Asteroids (Picture)

    Activision's River Raid (Standard)

    Atari's Super Breakout (Picture)

    Activision's Laser Blast

    Atari's Pac-Man (Picture)

    Ataris Missile Command (Picture)

    Thanks :)

I think your best bet would be to sell some of them individually like maybe River Raid, Plaque Attack, Oink and Crackpots assuming they are in mint condition and maybe have manuals. The rest, bunch together in a lot. That's what I would do. ;)

  11. Just wondering what to do with storing games especially activision games.

Bags seem to be annoying cause if you want to play the game you have to take it out of the bag etc....

Do the Atari games last longer because of the protective cartridge "slot"? I'm not sure if this is true but I guess it has to be since many of my Atari games work and my Activision or "non" covered games go to hell. Some I try cleaning with 90% alcohol and the old Q-tip but it doesnt seem to help.

I'm actually thinking about getting some dupes so I can store one and play the other. :P

Anyone have a good method of storing\cleaning\playing games?

    Tell me your routine!

...............or just end it all and stick with emulation? :ponder:

Well my friend for starters, never store in a basement or an attic. Too damp or too hot very bad. Temperature controlled environment good. The ones I have without boxes I store opening down in a covered box with other games. That seems to be sufficient enough. If they were exposed to extreme temps or moisture all the wiping of the contacts in the world won't help. Hope this helps!
