Hello all, I'm in a position to get a megafile 60 and Vortex HD plus 40. What I'm wondering is if the drives inside these are legacy SCSI drives ? So that I can replace the drive with a newer SCSI drive or maybe even a SCSI-IDE-CF adapter ? Also how much do you think are these worth ? many thanks, CoZe

you're forgetting Amstrad CPC plus, which was a beast. Unfortunately nobody bothered to make use of its capabilities, cause 8 bits were dead by that time. http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?c=26 some CPC Plus demos, some of them look really amazing for an 8 bit !

if you can afford an A600 or A1200, you can use cheap 2.5 laptop HDDs and avoid the floppy hassle. There is a program called whdload which installs floppy games to amiga hdd. Of course there are external HDD for the A500 too, but they're usually as expensive as an A1200 so no point really.

Both Atari 8 bits and Commodore 64 suck. The best 8 bit system ever is the Sharp X1.

it's called commodore basic not sure it can be called an OS, just an environment to help access C64 resources faster. You don't need to learn more than load and save anyway. Also tape is pretty troublesome and limiting for using C64. Real fun is with a 1541 drive and an MMCReplay for super easy access to c64 software on the net.

Looking for these two Goldbox titles. According to wikipedia entries(1 2) these are the only two of the GoldBox series that were ported to the ST. Do these games really exist ? I read some posts in the forums that they are vapor. But I also remember there were user reviews at AtariLegends (before it went down). Were they hallucinating people or former Amiga users (like me ) I have all GoldBox titles for Amiga and C64. (I don't collect other games, I just have a fetish for GoldBox titles)

hello guys, I'm trying to build a rgb cable for my atari to use with X-RGB. I need to make the composite sync signal. The schematics show two diodes, but the explanation talks of two 4.7 K resistors. Unfortunately my German is not in good shape, can somebody tell me what's the deal with resistors ? also is there any specification for diodes ? any will do ? thanks !
