am I dreaming or there were some double booting games ? a single floppy which can boot the same game on both Amiga and ST ?
-
But that is understandable for my case because there are more undersea cables that carries the internet going from Asia to US than from Asia to Europe.
However, in your case, Canada to US is surely faster than crossing the Atlantic... so go figure

hmm, I thought Canada was in France ?

yup, I'ld buy them all too, but one of the downsides of living in japan is that living space is so ****ing small. I can't really afford to keep any retro stuff that I won't ever use (I already have a lot). still puzzled about these stuff, I think I'm gonna get the megafile (and sell it again later) and maybe a mega st.
-
is there anyway we can contact this psyke ? I think I can persuade him to stop pestering with the a-f ...
-
damn, there goes my dreams of CF modded megafiles
but I may get them anyway just for the sake of playing with them. I can buy
megafile 60for 5$,
vortex plus 40 for 5$,
mega st 2 with vortex 40 for 25$,
mega st 4 bare unit for 25$,
mega st 4 with new keyboard (french layout) for 30 $,
mega st 4 (german roms) for 10$,
which ones do you think are a bargain ?

I already have a 1040 STe, can a Mega ST 4 offer anything that I can't do with my STe ?

Hello all,
I'm in a position to get a megafile 60 and Vortex HD plus 40. What I'm wondering is if the drives inside these are legacy SCSI drives ? So that I can replace the drive with a newer SCSI drive or maybe even a SCSI-IDE-CF adapter ?
Also how much do you think are these worth ?
many thanks,
CoZe

What's also interesting is that apart from the C128 and the BBC Micro series there is no machine that actually has a Z80 processor AND custom hardware for any kind of graphics. And even those two machines can't actually use their custom hardware AND the Z80 2nd processor together.you're forgetting Amstrad CPC plus, which was a beast. Unfortunately nobody bothered to make use of its capabilities, cause 8 bits were dead by that time.

some CPC Plus demos, some of them look really amazing for an 8 bit !

if you can afford an A600 or A1200, you can use cheap 2.5 laptop HDDs and avoid the floppy hassle. There is a program called whdload which installs floppy games to amiga hdd. Of course there are external HDD for the A500 too, but they're usually as expensive as an A1200 so no point really.

nitpicking grammar just to be an asshole.you must have a full, rich life.
A keyboard attachment is not a computer. This is not a grammatical mistake.

hmm, yes don't want sound mean but you seem to have paid little bit more than necessary. But as long as it works and you have fun, all is good !

ok, to make myself clear, this is not a shitfight. I just want to know what Atari users considers as the best demo on A8, and why do they think it is superior to C64 demos (if they think so). So far I have no answers. I will not directly answer anyone to avoid the shitfight. I just want to see the answers. The stage is yours
I'm sorry but Atari vs Commodore thread is very long, lots of off topic talk and there's no guarantee I'm gonna find what I'm looking for there.
-
OK, I've read the Atari vs Commodore thread and I'll post just one question. Give me the best A8 Demo ever made to save your lovely Atari from the Edge of Disgrace ...
-
it seems to run on a DOS-like program that I have no desire learningit's called commodore basic
not sure it can be called an OS, just an environment to help access C64 resources faster. You don't need to learn more than load and save anyway. Also tape is pretty troublesome and limiting for using C64. Real fun is with a 1541 drive and an MMCReplay for super easy access to c64 software on the net. -
Looking for these two Goldbox titles. According to wikipedia entries(1 2) these are the only two of the GoldBox series that were ported to the ST. Do these games really exist ? I read some posts in the forums that they are vapor. But I also remember there were user reviews at AtariLegends (before it went down). Were they hallucinating people or former Amiga users (like me
)I have all GoldBox titles for Amiga and C64. (I don't collect other games, I just have a fetish for GoldBox titles)

thank you, myself, I'm not in the states, but I know a guy in florida who might be interested. I just forwarded him the link.
yes, amibay is mostly based in UK, but there are members in every part of the planet, I'm in Japan, there are some members in Brasil, Australia, different parts of Europe, etc ...
We have Atari and other parts setup too, but not much users there at the moment :*(

voila ! Chase the chuckwagon seems great, though it looks more gaming oriented. It would be great if they hosted more hardware. (well that is up to users to post iems I guess)
many thanks. I'm an amiga user myself, we're also getting tired of ebay BS. In fact we started our own dealing place, Amibay. Have a look if you're interested.
-
hello,
what is ctcw ?
are there any ebay alternatives ?
-
ok thanks, just did the cable with no diodes, it works a treat
thanks !now to find a way to transfer files ...
-
thanks ! that's cool. so no diodes necessary ? That will save me a ride to akihabara since I have some resistors around.
I guess I'll just try and see how it goes.
-
any body ?

On STs without modulators, you can create a COMPOSITE VIDEO signal with the following scheme:This should give you a black & white signal but it is better than no picture at all, probably fully ok to check if an ST is working at all

In case you have no COMPOSITE SYNC on pin 2, use the right scheme to create it...
I have never tested those, being based in Good Old Europe, I can simply use SCART

hello guys,
I'm trying to build a rgb cable for my atari to use with X-RGB. I need to make the composite sync signal. The schematics show two diodes, but the explanation talks of two 4.7 K resistors. Unfortunately my German is not in good shape, can somebody tell me what's the deal with resistors ? also is there any specification for diodes ? any will do ?
thanks !
