  Win 8.1 was perfectly fine. It's alleged awfulness is yet another PC-myth.

  ^ I'm afraid not. Win 8 earned its reputation as a "confusing hellstew," and 8.1 wasn't nearly enough of an improvement. It's tolerable with Classic Shell and the like, but it's no surprise that Win 8.x has all but disappeared.

  Windows 8.1 is good for using on TV's, there's an app you can navigate the Start screen with a Xbox controller.
  
  But for a desktop environment I like how Win 10 puts mobile apps in a window along side my other Windows programs.
