anybody else who wasn't a fan of the nes?
frenchman replied to xg4bx's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Oh you mean this game written by UK company Rare for the (USA) NES: Yep, spot on! Ah, but Rare also brought us Battletoads and RC Pro-Am. Make sure you tell this 'malducci'.....'soul-less/dribble' -

On the box of the Beamrider it says 'poster included'. I never seen a poster in Beamrider, what does it look like?

On the whole it's probably true, but all my ~1200 disks for various computers work absolutely fine, and my VCS/NES/Jaguar/Megadrive carts stop working more and more (Those 4 systems suffer the worst) -

Nah, NES controller is the wrong way round, we grew up to fire with 'left', and control with 'right', even the NES buttons are the 'wrong way', incl the alphabet. Might work for Japanese, but not in Europe. Also, the NES is not nostalgia? 1983 (Famicom) is quite old already. -

Except that cartridges have no load times and don't lose their data over time like floppies. I got a few of NES carts which already stopped working, actually quite a few VCS carts too, but all my Computer disks still work perfectly, so you can forget that myth for starters. As for the NES hardware reliability itself, the less said the better. And don't come up with that bull, 'oh your carts need cleaning, should treat them better', all my video games are in A1 condition, it's just a fact, carts die earlier. -

You're kidding right? Excellent games on C64 and/or Amiga? Gosh, too numerous to mention. Excellent games on NES during 80s/early 90s in Europe? Maybe 5. Total sales of NES hardware in Europe by 1992 (source from the book Game Over). 1.5 million. See why the NES was totally irrelevant? fdd = floppy disk drive, as I said, in Europe cartridges was 'backwards', Europe didn't wanna go back to limited cartridge games, no way. -

Not haters, but the NES was just irrelevant in Europe. Also, the NES was just a backward, no quality system when compared to fdd gaming on C64 or Amiga, computer gaming offered more scope, deeper, bigger, BETTER games. So I'll say the USA was the 'backward' country (Even the US gaming magazine CGW at the time stated NES offers inferior gaming'). -

2600 Games To Avoid According To The Video Game Critic
frenchman replied to 4Ks's topic in Atari 2600
Super Cobra is an excellent game, so is Sky Skipper. Stellar Track is very good too, basically it's Star Fleet 1, a great strategy game. -
So I was away for a few weeks, and CPUWiz kindly made me a Music Machine, which sadly never arrived here at my location. My PP account never made the transfer, so I'm at a loss whats going on there. After many sleepless nights trying to sort everything out, I am giving up on that. I was looking forward to it as well. On the other hand, I was awaiting 4 ITT boxed games and two ITT boxes/instructions , which will complete my ITT range, with Pumuckl 1 and Wilma Wanderer never released (Pumuckl 1 is available as Aufruhr im Zoo, and Wilma Wanderer is available as Alices Abenteuer). Also, AA lists Base Attack as a ITT game, I think this is a mistake? Can someone confirm? Is there any info on ITT games besides TeleMatch adverts? Is (was) it the same Puerto Rico company listed on Wiki? What's the German connection, as all ITT games start with German instructions (not English as normally). Anyway, I am very happy to now have the (almost) complete ITT, including boxes, manuals, cart etc. I say almost, as I received two empty boxes, Cosmic Town and Fire Birds, but I already knew that and the carts are already on its way to me. Only a matter of days, then my ITT collection is truly complete. Scans needed for Atarimania or so, please ask. Instructions for AA also?

Yes, anyone could program in BASIC, but again, you had to learn it. BASIC was hugely important back in the days. Guess which richest company in the world was founded on selling 'BASIC' languages.

from ebay. They are from the former East Germany, and a total of 6 tape, 2 instruction booklets and a nice display case. They were part of a DDR radio program, and you could d/l the programs via radio, or buy the whole set from a computer shop. More info when I examined the tapes.

joypad or game pads suck! joypad and nes type controllers do suck. joysticks are sooo much better. What makes you say that? Because pad are the wrong way around: joystick: fire = left, control (movement) = right (right) hand.....pad: control (movement) left (wrong) hand, fire with right hand. And Nintendo can't even get the lettering the right way around. It might work for Japan, but it's just wrong for western premesis.

That's just the basic stuff we've seen on Atari vs C64 from Wolfhound...gang...man....something.

Thanks, I'm very proud of it. I wonder what are my chances of a boxed Motocross Racer/Tomac the Barbarian....very slim probably.

Many thanks, and many thanks Selgus for the offer, but at the moment I get good deals on German ebay, especially commons. I try to concentrate on not-so-commons if I can, I even got a boxed Stellar Track from German ebay, for $2. That title never even had a PAL release.
