  1. Thanks for the update.

I can't wait, a new game to open and play.

    ;-)

    Hello,

I'm sorry for delay in Robbo Forever shipping. I forgot that the assembly and packaging is so much work! Now I know that I have taken the orders and money too ealy.

On Monday I'll start to send packages. Thanks for your patience. Sorry once again.

  2. Not exactly what I'm looking for. I tried it in the emulator and couldn't figure out how to change the month and year. When I get time I will try on real hw.

    Thanks,

    Mark

I'm still looking for a nice Diary program.

I posted a while back looking for one and still haven't found one worth using.

    Thanks,

    Mark

Have you tried this one yet?

    Calendar 1.0.zip

It's more of a scheduling program, but it looks to be fairly complete. Only thing is that you're limited on the size of memo for each day, which is fairly small.

  3. Looking great. I really like the new updates.

    BTW,

    Thanks for the video updates.

Fairly happy with the macro indicator at the moment, so I've moved onto testing the extensions. There were lots of bugs, but I finally got them ironed out and converted the source code to one of the old 2.1 extensions: a calculator. Extensions are small (up to 3.5K) object files which load at $3006 and have a table of vectors that the main program looks at when you press certain keys, etc, bringing additional functionality to the program. Among the extensions I've already written are an icon menu bar, a character map, a program to load SDX directory listings into the editor, and a program to load another application.

I left extensions till last because they rely on absolute addresses in the main program, and any maintenance releases of the core code will require re-assembly of all the add-in modules.

    Calculator.wmv

Here, I've typed out a sum in the editor. I load the "CALC.EXT" extension (which actually autoruns, but I cancel it), then I copy and paste the sum into the calc command (on <CTRL+T>). You can load different extensions at any time, and there's an "unhook" vector, so an extension can undo any hacks it has made to the main program before the next one is loaded. It would be quite feasible, for example, to write a command processor interface if you like Protext on the ST.

  4. Yes it's with Atari800WinPlus 4.0 and 4.1 ONLY. Others I have tried are all good. WinVice, STEem, and Ultimate Bruce Lee so far ;)

Oh and yeah I get the USB sound right before the error like it was unplugged or something...

I'm using winplus 4.0 on my xp machine... have been using this since I got these sticks and the only time I got the error was when I accidentally pulled the usb cable out. otherwise rock solid.

I've been using the joysticks with winplus 4.0 on Vista. So far no errors.

  5. Will ?FRE(0) show extended RAM?

Long long ago....way back in the 1980's....I was pretty proficient/knowledgeable with the 8bit Atari's. But through the years, the memories have faded. ;)

I was wondering how to do something today and have no clue how to do so anymore. I have three 800xl's. Two are stock 64k machines. One has a 256k Rambo upgrade. WITHOUT connecting a disk drive and running some utility program, or booting into SpartaDos and trying to set up a ramdisk, how can I determine which is the 256k machine? (also, obviously, without cracking the case open!)

What I mean is, there must be some way to just boot into AtariBasic and PEEK some location to determine the amount of ram in the machine. OR, maybe POKE a particular value into some location that will attempt to trigger an extended bank memory swap, and then test some way to see if it worked? Or maybe some OS USR call??????

(I dug out the Atari's this week and have been playing a few cart games, but didn't dig out the disk drives and was wondering which machine had the upgrade, and couldn't think of how to tell!)

  6. Curt, this is outstanding news. You are working very hard to make a fantastic product.

The bases are not interchangeable, while the outward appearance is close to the original sticks, inside is a totally different ball game:

    1. The originals used a plastic tube with a plastic ring inside to push against contact domes. this was covered with a rubber cover. The rubber tended to pull and twist over the coarse of usage and the ring at the botton of the tube would fatigue and fail.

The Legacy design uses a solid plastic joystick handle that locks into a pivoting contact hub, this hub pushes down against a silicone contact directional pad in 4 directions (8 in diagonal pushes) and pushes the contact pads down.

    2. The originals had metal contact domes over copper traces, which over time would fail and didn't make good contact.

The Legacy design uses gold contact points ensuring longer higher quality contacts over time and with less wear as well.

    3. Lastly the plastic tops and bottoms are different then the originals both in their internal structure and in the height for each piece - together they equal the height of the original sticks, but each half - top and bottom is actually a much different height from the originals.

    4. Lastly - on the buttons. I have not been satisfied with the overall rebound snap of the current fire button silicone, so I spent much of last night in Solidworks designing a new design and I submitted for the silicone parts maker, she is going to run off a proto sample in 5 business days, so by early the week after I should have some new samples and once I get them to be at a point where I feel they significantly improve button feel and performance, I will put them in envelopes and mail free to anyone who is willing to put them upgraded silicone buttons in themselves.

I want people to be happy, if it costs a little bit out of pocket to do that, then in the end I did the right thing for everyone.

    Curt

The button is the only thing I don't like about the Retro sticks... It is fairly mushy feeling, but I'll get used to it... As for the bases I don't know, I never thought to look at that...

I did go through all my joysticks tonight and realize I have one CX40 that's broken, so I will be ordering a retrofit kit to compare against these :)

  8. I just got back into town and was surprised no one has commented on this? Why does Pac-Man play odd on the 1200XL? So far I don't see any problems with Ms. Pac-Man, Jr. Pac-Man, or Super Pac-Man.

Just got some Atari 8bit cartridges two being Pac-Man CLX4022. While playing I noticed Pac-Man's mouth stays open and doesn't open and close allot of the time. Every now and then something triggers his mouth to start moving again.

Both carts do the same thing, I though maybe I had a bad or glitched cart.

    What's up with that?

Edit: OK, I was curious about something. I was playing on my 1200XL when I noticed the problem just now I tried the cart on my 130XE and I can't reproduce the problem.

  9. Are there going to be instructions for the Atari 800? If so you can put me down for two.

Just to clarify, is this kit just for the 600XL or will it work on all Atari 8-bits?

    Tempest

It is for all atari 8-bits.

Just to say it again, Everyone who wants a kit send me a PM telling me how many you want and whether you want jacks included or not. please only send this info and nothing else. It will help me keep my info straight. once I have 15 orders, and they are paid for I will place the order.

we now have 8 orders. =)
