Looks nice.
How many buttons does it have and what did you do about the keypad? Isn't the keypad needed?

Update:
OK, cartridge is cleaned and seems to be working except for the problem with down and right. I read in another post that there is an adjustment on the MB for the controller. I will give that a try when I get time and I have been planning on adjusting the color/tint for a while now so this will be a good time to take care of both.
In gyrus the earth on the title screen looks green not blue, I hope to clear this up. Now I just wish I had a test cart like the one for the 7800/2600.

I bought Gyruss today at the flea market and it isn't working very well. I have some cleaning solution I bought not to long ago to clean the contacts and that helped some.
The game doesn't always start when put in.
Sometimes I only get a blue scren or the game comes on but at the bottom will have part of the year like [email protected]!. Now when it comes on I can't move the ship down or right I thought my controller port went bad but Pacman plays just fine as well as other games I have.
I haven't figured out how to take the cartrige apart to try and clean it better.
Any suggestions?

Congratulations on the article.

Thank you everyone that answered my many questions.
I just finished the mod today and everything went very well.
I am very impressed with the outcome.

All the parts came in today. Do any of them have polarity? A Plus or Minus side?
Anything over 10 volts is fine. Axial leads will fit the board better. Ceramic or mica is OK. Tolerance - 20% or less.Bob
I'm placing an on-line order at Mouser Electronics and I need more info on the68 pf
1000 pf
I was asked what style, volts, tolerance, leads
Anyone know what type I need?
Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Selgus for the two places to order on-line. Funny I started with Mouser they only had the resistors. I ended up getting the capacitors from Digi-Key. So thanks that worked out well.
Thanks Bob1200xl for the descriptions on what I needed.
Thank you everyone else for the tips and further explanations.
Looks like next week sometime I will be doing the mod.
Thanks,
Mark

I'm kind of excited I just finished a small mod on my 1200xl and all went well. I know it is the easy one where you remove R63 and solder in a jumper to get 5v to the SIO port.
Now I really want to do the "ClearPic 2002" http://www.retrobits.net/atari/clearpic.shtml mod but I have a few questions.
*Where is the best place to get the parts? I went to Radio Shack today and they only had 2 out of the 6 parts.
*I was also asked what wattage I needed I would assume the lowest wattage but I'm not sure. As you can tell I know very little about electronics.
*I am also unclear in the last step where you have to solder a wire from junction R27 and C61? I see they are side by side does this mean solder a wire to both top leads (across both leads) to J2-5?
*Does anyone have a picture of the last step R27 and C16 to J2-5?
**Oh almost forgot how or what is the best way to remove the solder from the holes. I have tried a paper clip and safety pin both not very easy or neat.
Thanks,
Mark

All sticks now come with USB port and all come with black cables, I'm trying to make sure everything is addressed.Curt
I just ordered 4 and mailed the check... sounds like a great product! I'm sure I can hack in a black cable myself if I get one of the white ones. That is good news.
Thanks

LOL, yeah, I'm not going to start collecting USB joystick variations! I'm not quite that far gone yet!Just stopped in b/c I was wondering about these... hoping my order is in the Google Checkout, and it wasn't lost. Never heard back from Curt when I inquired.
I went to the new web site and created an account then sent him an email with my google order info. I then got an email back in a few days saying:
Hi Mark,
Thanks, putting you into the new customer system, any open orders will be out the door by the 30th, enjoy
:-)

rdea6 what is the issue with the USB cable? I'm curious...I thought it was going to have a plug in on the joystick, and be a black cable instead of white. This is one of the
best joysticks
for the PC and emulation that I own.Could you post a couple of pics of it hooked up, just sitting there so these people will know they exist?? I'd love to see it, too.

Those don't look like the ones posted on the Legacy web site. I see what you mean, I like the ones pictured on the Legacy web site much better plug in black usb is the way to go. I wonder if we have a choice?

Nice work. I got a chance to play tonight and I really enjoyed the game.

As promised several months ago, here's Tink! Tonk! - Tink's Adventure by Sprout as a VAPI image. This is a really cute educational game!--
Atari Frog
Is there an emulator that will load the atx? I tried Atari800Win and it will not load atx.

I'm not sure if this is a good deal but I bought 2 130xe with no cords or PS for $25 each. They are in good clean condition and the ad says they were used for running TV Guide.
There are two left if anyone wants one.

I plan on using my 65xe Power Supply, I'm pretty sure they are the same.

Any updates?

This is a very nice video mod.
I was wondering if there is anyone willing to do the mod on my 800xl (NTSC) for a fee of course. I don't trust my abilities when it comes to electronics.
Or is there somewhere I can buy an 800XL with the video mod already done?
Thanks,
Mark

I would also be interested. I think it would be a good idea to have the everything included in the kit. Would cut down on confusion on my part.
