  1. I'm surprised to see that the lister didn't mention the fact that it's modded in his description. I thought ebay "disallowed" items such as modded consoles and homebrew games??? or is it me? Oooh. I didn't think of that. I think they do, though I'm not sure the Flashback 2 is exactly the same thing as a modded xbox or PS2. Maybe e-bay sees no distinction. That said, there are ways to word the it was modified without saying modified.
  2. Here's an odd question. Is it possible to take a 4 switch vader circuitboard and plug a 6 switch switchboard into it without any issues? I'm curious because I have a beat up vader that looks horrible but works and a REALLY nice light sixer that is quite toast. I haven't opened up the vader, but I would assume that much of the hardware is going to be the same aside from cosmetic differences like types of switches and placement. Thoughts?

  4. I just got a Game Gear at a Goodwill today. I just finished replacing all the capacitors. In any case, I got an official Game Gear carry case, a magnifier, the AC adapter, and 11 games (2 of which are sonic games). All for 20 dollars. A quick search on e-bay shows that 15 to 35 dollars is about right for the price of that sort of bundle. It depends on the games and the case. In my case, the official carry case makes it more valuable. With yours above, you probably paid about the right amount for it. Four games, a case, AC adapter, magnifier, (and battery pack?) The game gear doesn't have a lot of resale value honestly. I bought mine mostly because I fried my last one by accident and wanted one for my collection.
  5. Here, a quick look on wikipedia found a page with overlays. Overlays Someday I'd love to get one of these things.
  6. Hey... I just wanted to throw in a possible answer... I have experienced that sort of spotty look on my N64. I have a cheap S-video cable for it. When I use it, comes out looking really spotty, almost like a moire pattern. The fault lays in the cheap unshielded cable rather than the system itself. A better, more heavily shielded cable works great. You might consider trying an alternate better shielded cable and see if that fixes the problem? Course, I'm not sure if composite cables have the same issues that the Svideo ones do. An idea anyway.
  7. Presumably you'd have to get it professionally appraised and then use that appraisal as a basis for what you insure it for. I think that's how it works. And of course, you'd have to document the entire collection as a record of ownership. I gather that from what little I know about insuring other valuable things like jewelry.
  8. My German is REALLY rusty, but I'll try... It sounds like what he's doing is printing out a copy of the overlay on transparency paper. You'd need to get paper larger than the screen. I don't know the size of the vectrex screen, but I do know that anything larger than 8.5x11 will ahve to be special ordered. 8.5x11 is sold at most office supply stores. Following printing the background, he cuts the lines and various white elements out of card stock with an xacto knife to create a stencil (You could print it out in black on white card stock so you have something to follow), then masking it down to the transparency, he uses white spraypaint to paint them in. After that, he puts the transparency into a lamination pouch and runs it through a laminator. When he's done, he uses a scissors to cut it to size to fit the screen It sounds like a lot of work, but I don't doubt it'd be effective. As someone who works with laminators regularly, I'd say that the lamination pouch could be rough if the surface of the transparency was too glossy. Pouch laminators in my experience sometimes leave bubbles. A wide format roll laminator as found at larger copy shops might be cleaner. Most copy shops (Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, Fedex Kinkos) will at least have a pouch laminator. On the bright side, once you had the overlay template cut out, you should be able to use it several times to spray the lines and make multiple copies. The trick is where do you get the overlay artwork that you could print. But once you had done that, the rest should be doable in an hour or two. I suspect that they ARE out there, perhaps even on the forums of this video's website. I posted on the Youtube video asking for an English version. Don't hold your breath. Hope this helps!

I'm probably going to sell mine down the road. I printed out the manual to include if I ever do. I've sent it to your e-mail as requested. It's not too bad a copy. Prints up decently enough.

The 3DO isn't that complex overall. You want the manual for collectors sake, or to actually use? In either case, if you look around for "3do FZ-10 user manual" on google, you should find it fairly easily. I have a pdf copy of it, but when I tried to attach it here, it kept spitting it out. If you'd like me to e-mail it, PM me.
  11. Moon Patrol and Frogger I forgot about. Never played any of the others. Never played that one. Have to look up the ROM. I guess I'm sort of curious about game music in Atary 2600 games. I heard the theme from California Games for the first time yesterday. It was the first time I'd heard anyone do something so complex in a 2600 game. I know the music chip for the 2600 was limited, so I'm curious about it.
  12. It seems like by the time Nintendo came out it was common to have a full musical title screen. From what I've seen a lot of 2600 games have a few opening notes or no music at all. This is especially true with the earlier games. I know this has probably been asked before, but what Atari games do you feel have the best (or most technically amazing) music? (Specify if it's homebrew) For that matter, what are the earliest 2600 games with either a full musical splash screen or even better, in game music? Commando fits that last criteria. Asteroids might at a stretch. Any others?
  13. This seems like a worthwhile project. I'm not technical enough to help. IF you put in Svideo, why would you need RF anyway?
  14. Sneak and Peak was a buck at Goodwill. Everything int he first image was a dollar a piece. In the second photo I paid 2 dollars a game and 10 bucks for the 7800 and game brain (combined).
  15. Yeah, I figured as much. Well, frankly, I got the 7800 and the game brain together for 10 dollars as a bundle. It really was the games I overspent on at 2 dollars each. I knew I probably was paying too much, but well, eyes bigger than my wits. I may sell the game brain along with my 2600 vader and some of the games I don't like in a couple months when I have a power cord for the 7800. I took the brain apart and cleaned it up. It looks really nice now and works just fine. But really, I have no use for it. I did actually ask them to look for a power cable at the Goodwill I bought it at, but they couldn't find it.
  16. The Goodwills near me seem to be inconsistent about pricing. That one tends to prince Atari games at a buck each. It depends who's pricing them I guess. But two of the Goodwills I go to have a very high product turnover rate. I picked up all of this stuff today for about 68 dollars. Probably overpriced. The thing on the left is a 6 game switch. Never actually seen one before. None of the games are ones I had. I'm up to 98 2600 games now. Mario Brothers is more funt han I'd have expected having played it in SMB3 for Nintendo.
  17. Well, I was just jazzed to get joust. I LOVE the arcade joust. Heh. Well, now I just need a power cable. Too bad my 2600 one won't do. What a weird end for a power cord.
  18. I think Lukemorse1, as nice as a guy as he might be, lost focus on his priorities. I don't know him, or do anything on Youtube, but I went for a look at his video out of curiosity's sake. Heaven knows it made me stop and think a bit. I think stuff like this should be a wake up call to anyone who puts any sort of hobby or addiction above the human relationships in their lives. Video gaming can be an addiction as surely as alcohol or drugs. And it can be destructive too. I know there are numerous gamers here with spouses who probably could talk a great deal about balancing hobby and family. I wish the guy well. It seems like he's had a wakeup call he desperately needed. I hope he takes grasp of it, puts aside the hobby and does what he can to rescue his marriage and family. His situation has made me stop and think a bit, as it should any hard core gamer. Video games are objects. People are far more valuable. Having a fulfilling life is far more valuable.
  19. I only buy things I don't have. I did not have a 7800 before or any of the games, or that silly switch. I overpaid on the games (which were sold separately), but well, I'm a bachelor and am not really hurting for the money. Still, I'm going to swear off Goodwills for a while. My eyes overtook my wits.
  20. Well now... That's one heck of a score there. It looks like it's in almost brand new shape.
  21. Well, latest haul from Goodwill I think I overpaid for. 68 bucks for the lot. I think my eyes overtook my good sense. I'm going to swear off Goodwill for a while. They've gotten smarter about their pricing. But I'll post a photo and you guys can tell me. The 7800 looks to be in pretty good shape. I cleaned both it and the switcher up as soon as I got home. Both looked like they'd been sitting in someone's garage a while. Switcher works perfectly, though I think it's sort of a silly device for someone who now owns 98 games for the 2600. No power cord for the 7800. Anyone got a spare? This is my first 7800. So, did I overpay? Yeah, yeah, I know. Ah well.
  22. I picked up a FZ-10 at goodwill about 3 weeks ago. In great shape. 2 games for it too. I've seen FZ-1s at Goodwill at least twice, but thought hey were DVD players. I have my eyes open for them now. the FZ-1 is worth a bit of money. Not a lot, but enough. The FZ-10 is too.
  23. Well that's positive. The Flashback 2 is a great toy. I'm not bold enough to do the cart slot mod, but I think it was really clever to put that functionality in there. I look forward to any follow up.
  24. I don't consider myself a collector by any means. More like an enthusiast. Most of my stuff has been thrift finds. Here's what I have to date... mind you, most of it has been picked up in the past 9 months. ATARI * 2600 Heavy 6er - ebay buy. It's in fantastic condition and I got it for a steal. * 2600 Vader - Goodwill find. My main Atari gamer. NINTENDO * NES * N64 - Bought used in 1997. My first console in my life. * Gamecube - (no controller. One coming via ebay soon) * Gameboy - A gift from an aunt in 1993, first gaming platform I ever owned. * Gameboy Advance SP SEGA * Genesis (original) - Modded for composite out. * Genesis 2 - (May give this one away soon) * Genesis 3 - modded for s-video * Saturn -no games yet * Dreamcast * Game Gear - Currently awaiting capacitors for a proper restoration SONY * Playstation (original) - may be thrown out soon. It works, but I don't need it and who wants it? * PSone * Playstation 2 OTHER * Panasonic 3DO FZ-10 Total: 17 consoles, but 13 unique systems.
  25. Heya. Just played this game on Stella. Holy mackerel. I'd buy this cart. It's got great music, great graphics and great gameplay. Triple threat.
