All GREAT games. Imagic really was a classy Atari game producer. and Wow .99 each you say!!? Great games and an even greater deal! Enjoy. Heh. It's a good game, though it is a lot like Chopper Command, but without the trucks. I like this better than Chopped Command though. 99 cents for everything in the photo, not the ones I already had in my collection. I picked out all the ones I didn't have. I don't collect for labels, just for games because I play most of what I get.
-
All the games I bought were 99 cents. I have a feeling there were more but they got snapped up before I got there.
-
I got that one too. They had 3 imagic games on the shelf (see photo). I have five more in my collection. Dragonfire, Star Voyager, Demon Attack, Atlantis and Cosmic Ark.
-
Well, my latest Goodwill foray had me realizing I missed a 7800 and picking up 9 games for the 2600. Got home and did some checking. I currently own about 80 Atari games now, and the rarest I had was plaque attack... which is rather eh. In any case, I got my first 6 rare+ today. Subterranea. I'm always surprised at how innovative and fun Imagic games tend to be. I spent about 45 minutes playing it when I got home. Sorry. I just had to share.

Looks like the 3DO and the SNES controllers work differently than the genesis does. The Genesis has a pin for each button and direction with 6 mutton controllers multiplexing the signal. The 3DO and SNES use a chip that combines the signal to be sent to the console. The only way to make a Genesis controller work on the 3DO would be to cannibalize a 3DO or SNES controller fit the chips inside the controller along with the current board, then solder the pinout to match. Possibly doable but work. I don't have a SNES controller to take apart at the moment. I only ask because I found a couple 3DO games I like, but I find the controller to be just terrible.

He doesn't seem to be replying to PMs. I sent one too. No dice.

So here's a question. The 3DO and the Sega Genesis/Master systems use controllers that are cosmetically similar. They use similar 9 pin ports. We all know that the 3DO controller is pretty iffy. Is it possible to hack a genesis controller to work on the 3DO? I have a 3rd party controller with left and write buttons at the top. It's a question, though I'm not sure it would be in my capabilities anyway I don't know is the 3DO a digital controller? Any thoughts?

Well, latest Goodwill run was somewhat worthwhile: Panasonic 3DO FZ-10 with 2 controllers - One of the controllers has been spliced to be longer and the 3DO has some scratches, but it works great - 13.99 3DO - The Need For Speed - In case with manual - 3.00 3DO - Shockwave - In case with manual - 3.00 3DO - Shockwave 2 - In case with manual - 3.00 Dreamcast - Sonic Adventure - 3.00 Dreamcast - Sega Rally 2 - 3.00 Probably overpaid for the games. Shockwave is meh. But The need for speed and Sonic Adventure I'm not going to complain about. I realized too that I've seen at least 3 3DO FZ-1's at the various Goodwills around her in the past 8 months without realizing it. I though the damn things were VCRs. Ha. -

JFerio's current setup (updated 2/28/2010)
Lendorien replied to jferio's topic in Show Us Your Collection!
Meh, knockoffs are fine by me if the quality is good, and probably preferred for displaying/playing with. Those commemorative ones were all pretty good. Not only do you have a nice setup, but you surround it with classy gear. Bat'leths and robots. Rock on! -
Holy Head Explode. You must collect every single label variation. Yow. An impressive collection indeed.

Decided to go after Todd Rogers Galaxian record this summer
Lendorien replied to homerwannabee's topic in Atari 2600
Congratulations! That's fantastic! Now that I'm thinking about it... Sheesh. 4 hours. I can't imagine having to worry about whether nature would call in the middle of an epic run. I bet you never want to look at Galaxian again! Still, congrats. You earned the acolades. Let's hope they get your record up as quickly as before! -
You are a serious RPG gamer. I'm envious. A lot of those RPGs are expensive. Especially some of the rarer ones. I have sort of the same mentality. I only keep stuff I'll play for the most part. Is it forgivable that I have never heard of Wild Arms, much less that it's such a productive franchise?

I had to look this thing up on Wikipedia. Seriously, who came up with the idea for such a console. The inherent nature of VHS cassettes make this a BAD IDEA that seems obvious to anyone with half an understanding of how real video games work. Still, it's sort of cool that you're dvdifying the games. Anyone found any homebrew?

Atari 2600 vs. Nintendo DS Lite: Size Matters
Lendorien replied to BigO's topic in Classic Console Discussion
That's nothing. When the Macbook Air came out, I read this article by a journalist for Newsweek. Seriously, what happened to him is WAY worse than misplacing a DS. It does make you think about that whole "smaller is better" paradigm, doesn't it? http://www.newsweek.com/id/120052/output/print -
GB Sp's that won't turn on.....
Lendorien replied to Spazmonkey's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hmmm. Interesting that. Yeah, if one could find a fix... especially and easy one, there might be money in it. My SP is running great... no help there. -
I bet that Xbox would work just fine if he'd blow on the CD a couple times.

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread

Ok... Well, I really pulled in a lot in my weekly Goodwill run. I hot three in a loop in my area. Here's what I got: All for 40 dollars. The Saturn came with the AV cable and two controllers and it's in almost perfect cosmetic condition too. No games though, so I can't test it beyond playing a music cd in it for a while. That one I might sell. The gamecube lacks controllers, so I'll watch for them in future runs, still it seems to run just fine tho it is missing the Nintendo faceplate on the top for some reason. Came with the power cable and AV cable (which is a cheap replacement one that probably lacks good enough shielding for proper svideo). Illusion of Gaia is a nice snag as is the super gameboy at 2 bucks each. Too bad I don't have an SNES yet. I'm a sucker for gameboy games, but I probably overpaid for that barbie one. 99 cents each. Likewise for SMW and FzeroX. ~*~ As an aside to Snapcraft above, I buy some books at goodwill. All of the ones in my area still do a flat rate. Something like 99 cents for paperbacks and 1.75 for hardcovers. 3 bucks for books released int he past couple years. I will say that as far as games and gaming goes, I've had some success. As a long time PC gamer, I know the rare stuff. I've bought quite a few things at goodwill that I've turned around and sold at a profit on ebay or Amazon I've also gotten a number of Sega Genesis through Goodwill. They seem to pop up fairly often. I've modded a model one and model 3. The model 1 mods to composite video and stereo sound ridiculously easily. The model 3 isn't hard to mod for svideo, but I badly botched mine as my soldering skills are far from leet. My model 3 doesn't have sterio sound either. Easy to mod for svideo, but the model 1 really is the better version. -
I literally fried one a couple months ago... destroyed the voltage regulator AND the mainboard ROM. I fried a Pheonix cart I had plugged into it at the same time. Ha. But you probably meant a different kind of frying. In any case, years ago when I played a lot of basic games on the apple 2 and other systems, I'd ctrl+c out of them and look at the source code to cheat.

Well, my latest goodwill run netted me a few good books and: Sega Genesis Team Player switch brand new in the original box. Frogger - Atari 2600 Yars Revenge - Atari 2600 Donkey Kong - Atari 2600 Adventure - Atari 2600 Nothing special, but as I didn't have any of these things, a nice haul for me. I do think I'll stop buying games from my particular goodwill though. They're overpriceing the games. That said, I recently found the Sims 3 there for 8 dollars. I sold it on Amazon for 35. Ha. -

Lendorien replied to homerwannabee's topic in Atari 2600
Yowza. I can't say I have the patience to play as much as it must require to get this score. I'm impressed that you're trying though. One question, did you start out as a non-galaxian player who just is playing constantly now to get good, or have you some experience before this? -
Rarest for me is Plaque Attack. Plaque Attack. Ugh. After that it's Winter and Summer Games and Flag Capture. Needless to say, I don't have any rare games.

What was your favorite arcade hang out back in the day?
Lendorien replied to cimerians's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Heya... The Aladdin's Castle isn't there any more. I lived near FDL about 8 years ago. I do remember that there was a niche with some arcade machines for a bit, but it was pretty empty... I don't think it had that name. I'm fairly certain it's gone now, but I haven't been in that mall for about 4 years. Incidentally, there was a recent thread about this about 2 months ago: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...=137872&hl= -
My 2 year old nephew was over the other day with my sister (his mother). She's got him taught not to touch things, though he does go after things he knows are toys... or look like toys. He's a good kid and very obedient for a 2 year old. He found the Atari fascinating. He didn't touch it or the carts because a warning from his mother kept him away but really did get a kick out of it. He definitely got that my sister was controlling the guy on the screen. He's seen his parents using the computer (they do not have a TV), so I think he's made that connection. I gave him the spare controller and he sat on the couch mimicking his mother as she played.
