I dis the aluminum foil/crazy glue thing with my controllers. It's been 5 years and they still work perfectly. Before, I had to clean the flex circuits a couple times a year...

From the other thread in august. Not sure if that name is active, but if you have a beef, I'd take Albert's advice.

RadioShack TRS-80 Model 100 Portable Computer
Lendorien replied to AkoShirabe's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Oh man. I would love one of these. I had a WP-2 I used in college. I regret selling it. -
Hey Bob, Having been around on the net for a while, I've seen this type of behavior before. There are people who delight in trolling other people who are more talented and popular than themselves. They have little positive to offer, so they tear others down to build themselves up. It's sad, it's mean and the fact that their tactics work makes it even worse. You should be aware that nearly everyone in this community holds you in incredibly high regard. I seriously doubt if more than a handful of people on Atari age have anything but respect and admiration for what you offer this community. That the Trolls have won in driving you away makes me so very incredibly sad. Please, please, please try not to give them more weight than they deserve and instead, focus on all your legions of fans who have purchased and enjoyed your ports instead. I truly hope you can find balance in your personal life and are able to come back to us refreshed if or when you choose to. P.s. The only home brew game I have ever spent my limited money on is one of yours.

You know, if I ever come across an unreleased proto,I'm going to wait til April 1st to release it. It's fun watching the agony.

I was trying to get this done for Halloween, but...
Lendorien replied to PacManPlus's topic in Atari 7800
Oh man. I love seeing PMP's work. That he felt the need to leave over the bad behavior of some of the folks here makes me beyond sad. Atariage has lost a great asset to the hobby commmunity if he chooses to throw in the towel for good. I hope he stops by and sees all the good will being thrown in his direction. -
Yeah. I had a hell of a time with mine. In my case, the board also had a short i it I had to try to fix. Gave me fits as my solder-foo is not so great.

Vitriol is such a fun word to say tho! Actually, I've been away from Atariage for while. It's nice to come back and see that Curt is doing ok and the XM is back on track. I really am looking forward to it!

7800 Expansion Module (XM) hardware & game details - 7/8/2016

Updated this after a long haitus. Are there any game I've missed? -
Out of curiosity, Did this end up using the HSC to save the mazes?

My set up doesn't have some of the lesser used systems on it, just the ones I like to play. I could to more with Y cables and such, but it would be a bother. I have my more modern systems hooked up to my main TV and my older stuff in the den. So that helps lessen the amount of systems hooked up to the CRT. I've never heard of the Leisurevision, and I totally agree that hard wired cords are a pain in the butt. That's one of my complaints about the Intellivision.
-
In my case, I have a nice Pelican switchbox with 8 spots for plugging stuff in. It works really well and I do have room for more, but the issue is that my entertainment center for my giant 32 inch CRT does not.

I have Vader. I use my 7800 for my occasional play. I have so many systems hooked up it wouldn't be practical to have my Vader hooked up too.

Uncharted 3 is free right now (mistake?)

So, if you downloaded it, did you get to keep it? -
Find of the year! Pictures of both 5200 cases together!
Lendorien replied to Atari the Jedi's topic in Atari 5200
Huh. A console the size of a briefcase has a case that IS a briefcase. That's... amusing. Fantastic find there. I'm so jealous! -
Doh! Sorry about our brethren being jackasses to you. Rest assured that most of us know how to behave like gentle-people and are more than willing to wait and see what you turn up. (given how many jumped to thwap the idiots who complain about waiting too long.) Don't let the jerks drive you off from it. Most of us are quite interested and as excited as you are about collecting... if not as well placed to collect.

I've heard these complaints about TG before. And I think they have credibility. We all know what good old boys clubs can be like. People trust people they know and don't want to rock the boat. It happens. Sadly, I think a outfit like TG is a great concept. But only if there's integrity there. If Todd Rodgers was found to be faking his scores due to them not even being possible, then all his scores should be suspect and he should be forced to do them again and provide proof like everyone else. The fact that there was fighting and flame wars over the issue says to me that integrity is not a strong suit of those over at TG. Sad thing is, if the good people felt the need to quit out of disgust... What's left?

I've avoided commenting on my initial post before this because people will just complain regardless. But I had hoped that bringing it up might give Curt a push to get the thing out already. Sadly, I think most of the original excitement about the project is long gone due to it taking so dang long. I know that when I finally get the thing, I'll likely not be doing much more with it than using the HSC feature. I stopped saving my money to buy XM homebrew long ago, because it just seemed like it was turning into vaporware. Sorry, but that's what it feels like. The thing about communicating was pointed out to Curt long ago. That and the fact that a lot of the frustration people had with the XM project would dissipate if he just communicated regularly. He even said he was going to. And he did for a bit. But he stopped doing so, which created a new round of frustration. The thing is, this whole situation is one of his own making. His own frustration with people's frustration is due in whole part to his lack of transparency on the project. And I suspect, though I can't prove, that the fact he lost some of his collaborators was due to this as well. It may well be that they too got tired of the wait and lack of communication. He means well, and I appreciate that, but while people will apologize for him, I'll say as one of the original people who preordered, four years a very long time to wait. I'm not trying to be mean or complain. I'm just being honest. I don't think the issue here is that Curt didn't have good intentions, it's just that it ended up overwhelming him. And now, I'm guessing, he's avoiding dealing with it because it's so overwhelming. Bad thing is, the longer it sits there, the more grief he'll get. I do have a question. Does anyone know is those who have asked for a refund have actually gotten one? Not saying I'm at that point, but if this goes on for too much longer, I might consider it. You take that tone, but frankly, I think people who are a bit concerned do have a legitimate complaint. Curt certainly could do that, but it wouldn't make this situation any less of one of his own making. And frankly, I think most of us have been civil so far, unlike yourself who has resorted to swearing and troll talk. Nice.

What NES games are you currently playing?
Lendorien replied to Darth Link's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hm. RC pro am. It's my go to NES game. I rarely play anythign else, though occasionally Batman gets some play for nostalgia's sake. -
I am not one to issue complaints. And seriously, I do understand that life gets in the way sometimes. That said, it's been almost 4 years since the XM went on preorder. And it's been over 5 months since there was a status update in the XM's status update page. I'm a pretty patient guy and I've gone out of my way to defend you when others have complained. Personally, The money I spent was spent 4 years ago. It's gone and spent. I'm fine with that. But I still would like to know what's going on. Curt, could we please get a honest and transparent answer about where we are with this project? Can we expect it to be done in the near future? Thank you.

I Swear I Used To Be Good At This Game...
Lendorien replied to DaytonaUSA's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I used to be able to take out Contra on the NES without using the Konami code. I went back and played it with a fried this past year and had lost all of my lives after about 10 minutes of playtime. -
Toejam and Earl 3 on Sega Dreamcast Prototype Screens
Lendorien replied to triverse's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I love when these prototypes are unearthed. It's great playing What-if, especially with Dreamcast games. -
This is a great blog entry. Thank you for sharing it. Most, though not all have occured to me, though I'll admit, the dodgy Customer service or lack of it, has made me avoid E-bay these days.

I was not aware on the MSX sales model. The 3do had a lot more specialized hardware and really only 3 companies actually made the hardware; Panasonic, Goldstar and Sanyo. So unlike the MSX, the costs made it prohibatively expensive for all but the wealthiest game enthusiasts. I think you're right. If it had retailed at around 450 or 500, it might have gotten more traction. 700 dollars in today's money is well over a grand (1100 to 1700, depending on what criteria you use). Even now, the numbers would be low for people who would buy even the most amazing console or even ANY entertainment appliance for that much. The 3do was a good system. It was a purely cd-rom based platform, one of the first major consoles to do so. It had a pretty decent sound chip it, and could play music cds to boot, giving it extra value. The controllers could have been better, but it had a number of great and memorable games that debuted on the system. It also had some ports which were better on the 3do than on other systems. So the 3do failed, not because it sucked, but because it was priced out of the market. Third party support eventually faltered because the system lacked traction and it snowballed from there. I think that's why people mourn the Dreakcxast. IT truly was a great system. If you compare the graphics between say Soul Calibur on the dreamcast and ont he ps2, the dreamcast wins hands down. It may not have had chops to have the legs that the ps2 eventually had, but it could have lasted far longer if Sega hadn't been forced to throw in the towel because of their own mismanagement.

All things considered, it's a terrible product. I mean, I tried coloring with it and it's not as easy as the commercial makes it seem. It likes to stick on lines and diagonals, making it hard to draw with... sort of like Etch a scetch a suppose. Seriously. Why would anyone have wanted to pay 100 bucks for something that you could have done far better and more easily for a 50 cent coloring book and a similairly priced box of crayons? I guess it went into that 1980/90's catagory of "If it's electronic, it must be better!" I wonder if this thing had the electronic chops enough to actually play any real games. I'm guessing it didn't have much of a processor, if any, but there would be a fun project, if you were into such a thing. LJN Video Art homebrew! As an aside, does anyone have one of these and a scanner? I'd love to see what one of the story books or the manual looks like. Plus, it's always nice to archive stuff like this.
