  1. While it's true Daisenryaku Perfect HD came out on the PS3 it's not in physical format which means it can be pulled whenever Sony wants to and/or die when the console dies. Also some fans feel that Daisenryaku VII is superior in some ways. I know it sounds wrong to own a console for just one game but oh well. Does anyone know of a business or individual that provides "fat" PS2 restoration units with the HD mod?
  2. My memory is failing me but I believe that is correct. Just because you have 64k doesn't mean you will see anywhere near 64000 bytes free.
  3. Right now I want to stick to console hardware quality - game availability 2nd.
  4. I apologize in advance if these consoles shouldn't be in in the Classic section however if you read the systems for the Modern forum they are not in there either. Anyway, after digging up some old Computer War games I've kind of got sucked into this genre so of course I want to try out the Daisenryaku series. There was a version for the Xbox and PS2 - and so that is where I'm at. I'd like to get one of these consoles but prefer to stick with the one that will A) Give me the least amount of problems and B) If it does develop problems it will be easy to fix. Any input would be appreciated! Please note if I should stick with a specific model #/type within each console if I need to know that.
  5. For personal interest can anyone list some non-PC Gaming Doors and what they were about? This would include Non-PC platforms such as: Atari 8-bit / ST Commodore 64 / Amiga Apple II / GS I'm mainly interested in what game doors were available for these BBS platforms and what their closest PC counterpart would be. I'd also like to hear info on the C64 door Empire / what it was like etc. Thanks!
  6. Yes it's possible that it was me. I don't have a CoCo so I am using VCC. I attend the yearly CoCo fests but find the prices a bit expensive. Since I am only interested in a small handful of games these days I don't think it would be worthwhile to track down the original hardware.
  7. I'm very interested in learning how to play Overlord from Oblique Triad, however I haven't been able to find a manual and find some of the game a bit confusing. Is there anyone who can help?
  8. I've given this some thought and have decided that I will download an emulator and attempt to run Armada under it. I will probably do this for other consoles as well. In my life right now I'm somewhere between non-gamer and casual gamer. It's not that I don't like picking up a game now and again I just have a razor sharp focus on what I want to play. Yes the DC has a huge number of hits - no doubt about that - I just have no desire to play them. Along with the games I also enjoy having the artwork and instructions so I will definitely be picking up physical copies for the few games I own/emulate.
  9. I agree with everything that has been stated. The background graphics do look distracting. However I'm looking to get back into the Odyssey and don't currently have any hardware. One of my favorite games is Killer Bees and while there is a 7400+ version - also with distracting graphics - there was a release of it with the original Odyssey 3 graphics which are far less distracting. So given the fact that Odyssey 2 console prices are a bit high right now I figured well if I'm going to pay that much money anyway I might as well pay a little extra and try to locate a 7400 which may have RGB as an added bonus. Yes I would need to get a power converter/etc. but it would be kind of cool to get something that exotic. I think on my "want" list I've got: Killer Bees+ (O^3 edit), Killer Bees std, KC Munchkin, Turtles, Pick Axe Pete, UFO ... and I think that's it.
  10. I know you'll chuckle especially since it doesn't fall into anyone's Top 50 lists (and in some cases is at the back of the bus on the Top 200's): The game title in question is Armada. I do want to state that I'm not excited about the standard DC controller and don't think this title will work with the alternative "pad" controllers; but I can manage. As far as other titles that "speak" to me, I went back through the aforementioned lists and came up empty. Yes there are a lot of good games but my tastes have changed over time. Also these days I've got a bit of obsessive decluttering going on. I think when all is said and done I may wind up with a total of 20 games across 10+ consoles.
  11. This is going to sound bananas but if their was only 1 game you wanted to own on the Dreamcast - but said game isn't on other platforms and is very niche - is it worth owning a DC? Or would emulation be a better choice? Keep in mind I plan to own a physical copy either way...
  12. Attax deserves Pokey support as well. It looks like Othello but when you get sucked into it the whole games atmosphere is creepy and tense as hell.
  13. How difficult is it tracking down a Videopac 7400+ these days? As far as I can tell even in Europe the 7400+ was considered uncommon.
  14. First things first: I understand how people can get frustrated when a post isn't in its correct location. I debated whether to put this in modern or not but given there are no subforums for the Dreamcast I'm putting it here. If this is a problem please let me know / or tell me where it's getting moved to. That out of the way I'm interested in buying a Sega Dreamcast. Other than it probably needing a battery replacement if a listing doesn't specify it - what other things do I need to be made aware of? Obviously any electronics can crap out at any time but what would be considered the more reliable units to look for? Obviously if I buy from Ebay I'm only going to buy from sellers that offer returns. So that's basically it! Also, if there are specific sellers out there refurbishing these or otherwise have good reputations please don't post them here as I don't want this to turn into an advertisement thread. Please private message me this info instead. Thanks!
  15. I'm sure there are folks here who breathe, eat, and live videogames 24/7 but I'm not one of those. Once in a while I need to take a break otherwise it becomes overwhelming. However do you find yourself in a situation where you return to video games only to find out that while you were gone a homebrew has come and gone that you really wanted? Not looking for a pity party I'm just trying to figure out the right balance between maintaining a healthy relationship with the hobby and not missing out on limited releases. It seems like even if I'm not buying or playing videogames it's a full time hobby just keeping track of all the new releases!
  16. I would like Attax as well; including trackball support! So there is no confusion as there are multiple "Attax" on the search engine: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=6960
  17. In alphabetic order: Attax (Leland, Arcade) Bushido Blade (Sony, PSX) K.C. Munchkin (Magnavox, Odyssey 2) Quake 1 (Id, PC) Rallisport Challenge 2 (MGS, X-Box) Samurai Shodown 1 (SNK, Neo-Geo) Snake (Nokia, 3310) Tyrian 2000 (Epic Games, PC) Victory Road (SNK, Arcade) Wizard's Den (Tom Mix, Radio Shack Color Computer)
  18. Thanks for everyones input. You guys are a friendly helpful bunch! Also for pointing out 7800 Worm. I really love those Snake games a lot.
  19. Thank you for the info on INTV Boulderdash! I wasn't sure if I would re-buy a INTV - theres not much that interests me - but I would buy one for this!
  20. Interested; sent you a PM. Is this the type of game where a standard atari joystick can be in the first controller port and you can still play?
  21. I just got back into gaming after a long hiatus. I decided this time that I wouldn't go insane with trying to collect absolutely everything; and would instead just try to buy what I absolutely must have. Unfortunately I'm stressed out as it seems there are hundreds of homebrews that have been released since I have been gone - and a lot out of print. Plus there is a lot of current activity - it just seems like stress for the casual collector. Here are a list of what I've been looking for: 2600 - Boulderdash 5200 - Boulderdash Colecovision - Boulderdash, Lode Runner (I've been told there are two versions - have no idea how to tell the last), Son of Nibbler (Nibbli?) NES - Super NESnake 2 Atari Lynx - Lode Runner. I think Son of Nibbler is just starting (Have no idea where to buy it - waiting on PM's. Super NESnake 2 is for sale but I'm not sure what NES console to buy it for. Since I've been gone it seems like there are two dozen NES clones and it's all rather confusing. If you haven't gathered by now - Boulder Dash, Lode Runner, and Snake/Nibbler type games are my favorite. I've decided to be more casual this time. I will probably only own the older cartridge based consoles this time around - and on those maybe 1-5 cartridges max. For example I want to buy another Odyssey 2 but will probably only stick with KC Munchkin. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this.
  22. How do I know which is the more recent version? They are out of stock unfortunately.
  23. 1. How would you grade Boulder dash and Lode runner as games - in terms of how well? 2. Is boulder Dash like Apple 2? 3. How much can I expect to have to pay for each? How difficult are they to find?
