It's very difficult and could be done, chasing the rainbow, Atari 2600 style by detecting collision or 5 on the line flag in the status register, then waste a few cycles and then load in new color data in the sprite att. table, waste a few cycle, load new color into the sprite att. table.  I haven't tried it yet.  I think HERO does this and some homebrew MSX game does it.  Not easy to do and only one or few sprites are only one that could color change.

Yes, as described in that thread :

But it is hardly exploitable in a game i think.   Not as on Atari VCS or a C64.

  2. a great tool to create graphic for coleco is also : multipaint  ,  it is deluxe paint like which support graphic mode constraint of classics computer.

If you choose MSX1  , you will have exactly the same limitation than the colecovision  , may be little difference concerning the value of the palette. But make no real difference.

    Multipaint (kameli.net)

You have also the tool from Tony Cruise , there is a thread  the programming section (kiwi pointed to it). it is a very great tool too.

  3. Personally i don't think. It is a very good computer for its time but It had reliability problems.:(  But it is what the video said.

I would love to be able to have one back in time , but i had to sell my coleco to buy a commodore 64.  could not afford the Adam :(..     now, i know the C64 was the best choice i could do , but back in time i really wanted an ADAM.

  4. I love that!!! ...  i started to work on the same kind of project  2 years ago , i put it on hold for now because i have other thing to work on.  But what you did looks very similar to my vision.

However you took a different technical approach than me.  I choose to use the "BITMAP" Mode , this way , my bullet are not sprites but Pixels , so don't need to manage flickering for them and i can put more.

Looking forward to see it available!!

  5. hum...indeed i did not notice the difference of color.

Atari XL version box are blue. (but purple in the center picture)

Atari 400 800 XL XE Oil's Well : scans, dump, download, screenshots, ads, videos, catalog, instructions, roms (atarimania.com)

Commodore c64 seems to have some purple also on the box around.

Oil's Well (1983) Commodore 64 box cover art - MobyGames

But there is also box for both atari and commodore that are blue  , but still will purple in the center

    Oil's Well | Commodore 64 (retroplace.com)

Msx box are blue  but with additionnal sticker (also with purple in the center)

Oil's Well Box Shot for MSX - GameFAQs (gamespot.com)

So it seems the coleco one , is the only one to have blue in the center also.

Yes, that's correct, my Dead Tomb cart does not work in my F18A modded CV.  But the rom does work in the same CV via the AtariMax Ultimate.  Go figure.  Some strange hardware/firmware bug thing I guess.  Not a problem from my perspective, just an interesting observation.

I think the AtariMax  clear the RAM of the CV. And you start a game from the AtariMax , the ram is already cleared.    But when you start the Original Cart Directly , the state of the CV RAM is kind of random.  It could be that make fail the game on vanilla CV.   I guess on the Phoenix , the RAM at start is also initialized or cleared. It is why it works.

The game code somewhere ,i think, expect the ram is cleared.

    Just a guess.

I would If I could. Atleast 2 of them.

you should apply a job in my company... we can have what ever Tesla you want as Company car.  And said you have take a Model X , you can borrow a Model S  from our pool car.s

But not only Tesla , what ever 100% electric car you want below around 100k USD.

I personally don't like  the Teslas, for me it is an IPAD with wheels... i don't like that . The only thing that is better with tesla is the access to Super Charger network.

but my colleague love them , i think we have already 120 Teslas in the car fleet.

To have drive almost all existing 100% electric cars  , Tesla are really not the best one.  But far to be the worst! 😀

And the proof that Teslas are not the best car in the world ,  HE-MAN does not drive a Tesla! 😀

Wasn't one of the short videos shown, basically a video of the game "running", but the person who was recording the screen couldn't actually play the game, because he had to hold the camera?  If only something like a "tripod" existed...or perhaps a 2nd person in existence in the world, wherein 1 person could hold the camera, and a 2nd person could pick up the controller and show some actual game-play!  Eh, maybe next time in 30 years from now.

a "Tripod"... you are crazy , don't you read or see "the war of worlds" from H.G Wells? 😀

  9. What i found really pity , it is not he is gone and keep the MOTU from him and don't share it.   Anyway , ihmo , i think he  has just wasted 5000 USD in this kind of thing but it is his problem , he does what he want with his money. And it is his own right to do whatever he wants with that proto he paid.   Even if we want  just destroy it on his youtube channel to make views...

it is the fact he was somebody who were creating new games for the colecovision.  Even if we don't know if he will be able to really release something.  At least he was trying to code new game , 100% in assembly from Scratch. And the few progress he presented was promising.  People doing new games from scratch 100% in assembly on colecovision are as rare than the prototypes and IMHO lot of more interesting.

  10. I'm just curious  about that game.

Does people want have the rom because they are interested in the game play.  Or just because it is prototype?

I mean  if we reprogram that game from scratch today with a result that will be very close to the prototype (if not identical) .

Do you think it will "solve" the issue this that not accessible prototype?
