I bought this game today, but it didn't come with Arthur's Magic Cypher, to imput the password to get to the lower levels of the game. Does anyone have a file, program, or even just images of the two discs that make the password cypher so I can determine how to proceed? Thanks everyone,.

Prototype Commodore "65" was sold for 23000 dollars on ebay

True, but if there's another thing to note, it's that new generations are getting into older gaming more than ever. More kids are seeking out 16-bit, 8-bit, and older as they're realizing how great the games were from that era. It's hard to say if it'll remain as popular or become more popular, but I wouldn't bet that these older gaming systems and computers will be useless in the eyes of younger gamers in the future once we're all long dead. -

It's ALWAYS like that. I swear I miss every swell in the market by at least a few years, haha. -

Fortunately, you can play the converted 5200 version on the XEGS. It's really much smoother. I don't know why Atari paid people to write games more than once, but that's what they did.
-
First version was the 8-bit, used for the XEGS, wasn't very good so 2 other guys did the 5200 version...way better with the trak-ball! Joystick? Not on any version! But of all joystick versions, the 5200 still wins!

Maybe, but that seems even weirder. "Hey man, I bought that 23k dollar computer yesterday to remember that company that sucked it up after their huge success!". Just, doesn't have the same ring to it . I just wonder how people set aside money for purchases like this. I'd be able to "afford" this, but ... I wouldn't dare purchase it. Even if this was something I cared for deeply, like Star Wars, Nintendo, Sega, or Tron related... no. Not in a million years no. Maybe I'm not "committed" enough as a collector, but the most I'd spend on anything is maybe a thousand bucks. Past that, it just gets into affecting my actual life a bit too much for it to be "fun video games" anymore. Kinda like that Sega Pluto that was for sale a while back. I'd offer about a grand for it. Past that, it's just a plastic shell on a Saturn. Not worth it, no matter how much I love the Saturn. -
Wow, this is a great mod! You should be really proud. I've been semi-interested in the msx, but finding the disks has been one major reason why I've been turned away. This would be great to do on one with an already faulty drive.

Yeah, either non-working or not complete systems. Plus this one isn't yellowed. It's the text-book version of what this system should have been brand new, which is probably why it went for so much. Although, again, it's freakin' nuts. I didn't think an old computer, even one tied to the Commodore line, would fetch anything like this. I bet there will be more of these popping up on eBay after a profit margin like that! -
Today we review the Atari XEGS!

I argue that the XEGS is better than the 5200 in that it plays the computer games that were ported over to the 5200, has Basic with the keyboard, has video-out built in, AND uses return to center joysticks!!
-
Great system! I personally like the 5200 better, but I totally see the argument for the XEGS. They're both great.

Well customs finally was able to get a hold of play Asia. Turns out that even though they got the FCC form from them it'll still take time to process this. I think that translates to a bunch of guys at customs playing the 3ds until they ship it back, haha.

I read that while that many may exist, most don't work. Which is why it's going for so much, probably. This is really cool, but like with anything, I'm not sure how its 23k cool. But hey, if it makes the person that happy to own it... -
Wait, are you guys using the flash cart to play these? My new virtual boy modded controller works well enough, so I think ill hold off on the flash cart for now. Also really getting into Rescue on Fractalus. Very addicting and really impressive for the era. Having a blast with it. Then again, every game I seem to buy for this system is insanely fun. Really in love with this computer, and I keep putting hour after hour into this. Haven't been this addicted to a console since probably the n64.

Ha, yea yea, thanks Moycon. I wish dealing with customs was that easy. It's just a frustrating transaction. Gotta love it.

So it turns out Play-Asia forgot how to send a package overseas to the US. I ordered one of the New 3DS consoles (the small ones we're not getting here), along with a few games. Turns out, Play-Asia in all their infinite wisdom decided to not attach a customs form detailing the contents inside, nor provided the necessary FCC electronics form they were supposed to send with the package. Here's where the fun begins. Fed-Ex can't seem to get a hold of them, and Play-Asia doesn't understand what they need to do when I contacted them via their support email. So the package is stuck in limbo in Tennessee. Yay. I've never had a problem with these guys in the past, but it's been about a year since I've ordered from them. Has the place gone down hill recently, and I just didn't hear about it, or did someone just mess up and I'm getting the raw end of the deal? Any advice at this point as to what I can do? They sent me the FCC electronics form in case I could fill it out for Play-Asia, but I don't have a clue what anything on the form means (seriously, it's like Legal mumbo jumbo, asking for numbers and asking for reference names).

The guy said the location on Baseline road will still be open. Not sure if that's true, but here's to hoping. I don't like going on Baseline because of all the speed cams, but still nice to know.

Either way you play, it's a great time

Got some RCA cables, converters, and a wire organizer there yesterday. Got huge savings, and left the store with a $13 bill. I was so excited about this (as their cords alone start at $15-$20) until I started walking back to the Jeep, and realized I could have probably got all this for even cheaper online, haha. I didn't go for the sale, I simply needed some cords for my new gaming room setup. It was only when I turned the corner and saw sales signs everywhere and a half-cleared out store did it hit me. I got the last cable and converter on my list, so stock was going fast. Still, prices aside, I will miss being able to go to a place that has video and audio cable needs when I want it now, without waiting a week or so for eBay purchases. I will say this, they could have honestly kept their high prices and survived if they had just stocked the right stuff. I remember when I was a kid, you could go into a Radio Shack and buy everything you ever needed to build a computer. They had multiple colored LED lights, too. Towards the end, they carried nothing. A few over-priced cables, some RC cars, a couple cell phone choices, and a needlessly over-priced random HDTV in the back. They said one of the locations near me will stay around. So Radio Shack isn't completely dead/converted to Sprint, I guess. Still, kinda sad to see another store I grew up with kick it.

When I was a kid, I played Centipede maybe once or twice, and never paid it any mind until I owned a copy for my Game Boy. It was fun, but I don't think I really enjoyed it all that much, and because of that, I haven't played the game since. Centipede came with my XEGS, and it was the last game I chose to boot up, simply because I never thought I liked the game too much. Boy was I wrong! More so than any other Atari game I can think of, I'm simply smitten with this! I've probably played at least 3 dozen rounds since we got home from our Valentine's day today, alone. I'm not sure if it's the XEGS quality sound, or the 2600-style joystick actually working well with a game for once (I usually find it horribly inaccurate), but something is really engaging about this and I'm hooked! Have you guys ever come across a "popular" game you shunned for whatever stupid reason and come back to and realized what you had missed? Anyone else play the 400/800 version of Centipede around here?

Well, it helps the N64 "compute", so it kinda... nah sorry, can't help you No worries, happens to me all the bloody time...

So, having a new XEGS 8-bit Atari computer, I'm really digging into the library. Choplifter just came today, and I'm glued! But there's one game that stands above all the rest. That's Robotron 2084 (I'll be 99 years old if I see the day, haha). And unlike oh-so-many home versions of Robotron, this one at least attempts to do the control right.... kinda. If you plug in an Atari joystick into player 1 slot, another into player 2 slot, and set the joysticks in the tray that's apart of the box the game comes in, you can have dual joystick control. There's some problems here, though. 1. Most don't have a box. 2. If you have a box, you probably either don't want to be rough-housing it or it's too brittle to work right. 3. 2600 controllers simply aren't the most accurate things in the world, and it's just not the same, control wise. Otherwise the game is awesome. The graphics are good for an Atari 8-bit game, and the sound... the sound is where it's at! But the control is just not perfect. I've come up with the perfect solution. Years ago, I had a Virtual Boy go bust on me. A friend of mine took it for parts, and I kept the controller. I've literally had no use for the thing until this week. It's the only controller (that I can think of) that has 2 d-pads, one for each hand, and has plenty of fire buttons. So, the controller is being modded so that the controller outputs to two 7800 controller port connections. Player one, and player two. The left d-pad is player one, the right d-pad is player two. In addition, so that I can play other games with the controller, B & A will be fire 1 and fire 2 for player one, and L & R will be fire 1 and fire 2 for player two. So no matter how I want to control a game, I'll have a way to play it, with (in my opinion) the best dpads Nintendo ever produced. I love this controller, and it's quality far outshines the system it's attached to. I think it'll live on well with my XEGS, and be better put to use. It should be done in a bit, and I'll show you all once its done. SO excited, and I can't wait to play Robotron with this thing!

Awesome, Gredler! I love those games, and I know you will too,. If you ever need help with the modding of the Xbox just PM me bud. Btw, it's not listed, but there will be an import Dreamcast system and controller for sale for a meager 20 bucks. Just don't need her as my American DC is now modded, so figured I'd pass it on for cheap. Very clean, if there are any scratches they're not noticeable, not yellowed, and the controller is in perfect shape.
