It's the Japanese system, but luckily it will play all the disks, and it's all complete.. in box, with baggies.. which is a BIG sell for me . I'll be doing Pippin game reviews as soon as I get it . So you'll see the best (literally...) footage of the gameplay on tons of games that have never been put on youtube before.

I'd like the SMS bundle. I'm at a tire center atm. I'll pm you once I get home -
Replace the unit. Even non scratched, non beatup units are only like 20 bucks or less.

I think it's a fun game... that is if you don't think of it as a Street Fighter sequel. If you do that, yea, it's a major disappointment. But as a casual pic up and play game, it's not bad. I must agree with you though, the new characters in III were totally forgettable. The fact (to my knowledge) none of them are in IV tells you they weren't good at all. Btw, how is your leaky ceiling coming along? Hope all is well...

Thanks for contributing! Was that sarcasm? If so, and if someone already said that, I'm sorry >_>. Nope, no sarcasm. Just appreciation from a like-minded enthusiast. Whew, thanks man . It's so hard sometimes to tell when someone's being sarcastic or not in text, so I figured I'd ask . Great idea for a thread btw As a side note, I really think a modern system should be made that uses Saturn type disk cases. I don't care what the system can produce as far as graphics, I'd buy it in a heart beat. haha -

I miss the days when ads looked like that. I used to get so excited about the ones that came with my NES games back in the day. Man I wish I didn't sell that system off. -

The Rules of Video Game Collecting
DaytonaUSA replied to Ransom's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Sorry for the long post in advance. Here is my list: 1. When you get a game that comes in a case (especially Sega Saturn games) always ask the clerk if he'll switch out the entire case for one that is in great condition but houses yet another copy of Daytona Usa. If the clerk says no, leave. If the clerk says yes, buy it. 2. Always scour through buy in now listings on ebay as auctions are typically not fun, but annoying, and you'll go way over your price range. In order to stay away from temptation (I'm looking at you Test PS2), it's best to stay away from auctions out of fear of saying "it's just 10 more dollars with this bid". 3. Always shop at a place that has price stickers that come off easily. If there is severe residue left behind on all their games, unless it's uber rare, shop at a different store. 4. If the store you're shopping in for a new game happens to be Gamestop, make sure the price stickers aren't stuck on the actual paper cover of the dvd box.. as is their new policy (ps: screw Gamestop). 5. Cart based games are ok to buy without boxes unless it's that of a Genesis. While boxes are preferable, it's not a selling point. 6. If you see boxed games for the 32x that you don't own, buy it. 7. If you see any Pippin game for sale, buy it. 8. When you get home, get out your typical in-the-bathroom-cabinet cleaners such as rubbing alcohol and witch hazel, and clean your new purchases. Be sure not to use rubbing alcohol on systems... BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN! Water is always good on a tissue to get the dirt off of games as well. The cleansers being reserved for sticker residue (PS: how do these games get so dang dirty.. do people live underground? I swear..) 9. Bookshelves are only 20 bucks at Big Lots and Target. When your games fill another up one up, buy a new bookshelf. 10. All game systems must be hooked up. If it's not hooked up, it won't be played. 11. If there's a way to get imports on a system to work without a hard mod, do it. Import games usually put US games to shame (I'm looking at you, Saturn). 12. If it says "Microsoft" on it, be sure it's the best version of the system you can buy. If not, screw it. 13. For the last time, stop buying RPGs you dult. You never have time to play them. It doesn't matter how rare it is.. back away! 14. If you're still reading this, please ship all unwanted, neglected games and systems to 120 Shan........ -
OnLive Aims to Make Game Consoles Obsolete
DaytonaUSA replied to Random Terrain's topic in Modern Console Discussion
but..but... they didn't support the Dreamcast! ..which btw, is the second best system known to man. -
Thanks bud. I think I got a good deal on it as well. 165 and I got a free game. And the thing is literally not faded at all, it looks brand new. Can't wait to show it off .

OnLive Aims to Make Game Consoles Obsolete

I could talk about your points all day, but seriously.. this takes the cake. Seriously.. 60 hours a week? Seriously? A day and a half's work days you spend on gaming a week? Do you have a job? Do you have a family? ....Maybe I'm starting to realize why you don't think your internet provider will give you enough bandwidth to use this service. If you don't have a job, your internet program must really suck . -

Thank you RT for saying that. So no Artlover, it means that everyone on the internet has an opinion, and will stick by it no matter what proof is shown to them. I'm not saying the service will work, or be successful. But I will say that what they demonstrated wouldn't have worked as well.. ie: wouldn't have wowed devs and the press to the extent that it did, if it was already bug ridden. I understand it's a controlled environment.. i'm not stupid. But the server wasn't in the room in the back, and the game response times where what they advertised. They said it has limitations, and named them. They said you had to be a certain distance from a server in order to have it work well. I'm sure they didn't make this stuff up out of thin air. They have worked on this for 7 years.. I'm sure they thought of all the concerns punk kids on the internet think of in the first 30 seconds of seeing their ideas unfold in front of the public. (not saying you're a punk kid.. but the general public who just says "this is impossible, screw this".). Again.. not saying it's going to work perfectly. But everything seemed impossible at some point till they proved us wrong. If you told me 15 years ago that I'd be playing with people in asia online with top of the line 3d graphics, in real time, over wireless internet signals, i'd say you were crazy. Hell, if you told me 15 years ago I'd have a phone that was with me at all times that was almost like having a laptop in my pocket (iphone), or that i'd have a computer in my car that was hooked up to satellites in the sky that would talk to me and tell me where i was, in real time, and tell me how to get anywhere I wanted to drive.. even to restaurants, i'd say you were crazy. They aren't saying the impossible.. they aren't saying you can talk to a server in Britain with no latency. They aren't saying they're going to prove physics wrong. They are saying though that they have a compression technology that will impress the world and change, if not set the groundwork for others to in the near future, the way we play games. And I for one believe that they aren't full of shit. Companies like EA and Ubisoft and Take2 have way too much to do and money to invest in way too many places than to go to some company that no one has ever heard of and announce loyalty and support to them. If EA didn't bother to even support the Dreamcast, I'd say this company is off to a pretty great start. -
Glad your stuff is ok man. I hope that you were able to give your upstairs neighbor a bop to the head.

Which is your favorite Madden year?
DaytonaUSA replied to smile_walle's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Madden '95 on my Super Nintendo. That game was the best in the series for me. After about '98 it started losing it's specialness. I played that game so much with my friends. Loved '95. And a quick recommendation for Play Action Football for the NES.. better than Techno Bowl (ducks...). The Super NES version though wasn't so great. -
Marathon 2 should run just fine. It only requires a 68040. My Quadra 950 handles it without a problem. Perhaps I remember 3 being slow, the 6200 was a real dog of a Mac, didn't really perform better than my old Quadra 700! Been a lot of years Anyhow the pippin looks really cool, hope to see lots of updates on it here, I love old mac's still have a 540c, G3 powerbook 250mhz, 6500/275 & LC. All bought new, shudder to think of the cost now! I have been using Mac's since the 512K Plus, wouldn't have anything else! Rock on , I love macs as well . I'll be sure to post pictures of the little guy once I get him. I'll try to get more games, but at least I'll be able to show off what I do have. Can't wait . Rare mac = win. Rare gaming system = win. Rare gaming system that's a Mac = head explodes .

So burned games should work? Great! Oh, and I got Marathon 1, 2 and 3 off of Bungie's own site. The URL is at my home machine.. I'll paste it here when I get home. But you should be able to go on bungie.net and find it there. There's a dedicated page for it somewhere in that site. Btw, since I'm providing you this, can you let me know where to get the open source stuff you have already find, wink wink?? I'd be your best friend lol.

Here is a pic of the game I'm getting. I've never seen a retial game for this before, so this is a HUGE deal for me, even if the game might not be much to talk about. It's called Tamogachi Greetings:
-
It had games made for it though, just like a playstation or saturn.. just more like a 3DO in popularity haha. games are VERY hard to come by but again, some places let you dload their old games for free, like Bungie's Haloish game, Marathon. I'm hoping I can get that to work on it >_> Btw, I bought the Pippin for a dang good price, and it came with the box, all the baggies, packaging ect. After I told him I was afraid I might not get anything to work on it, and that I coudlnt' find any retail games for sale anywhere, he threw in his only game, a Tamogachi game, for free . The system is in mint condition.. not faded at all. I can't wait to play with it as the controller is very interesting. Trackball in gaming pad??? BRILLIANT! haha. I'll let everyone know if I can get Bungie's Marathon dload to work on it. If so, this thing is already well worth the money.

OnLive Aims to Make Game Consoles Obsolete
DaytonaUSA replied to Random Terrain's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Want to feel old? I had a third grader ask me today, "What's a VCR?" As for OnLive, I guess I'm still stuck on "physical media." I rarely even download Live Arcade games because I feel like I don't really have them. I'd be willing to try this. I could see it replacing rentals, but I would still want hard copies of anything I was going to plunk down full price for. Wow, sigh.. we're getting old. Regarding the physical media bit, you're right. I am always very reluctant to buy digital games vs phsyical. case in point: when I gave my 360 to my friend, I lost all my dloaded games when we canceled my account on the system so he could use it. No chance for retail... just gone. I guess I like the idea of this box in the sense I never would have to upgrade. Games already impossible to do on a ps3/360 would be possible with this. Who knows how it will work.. it could blow us all away, it could suck. I woudln't mind getting one to try , and to use soley for renting games..until that is the service was popular enough that the company wouldn't be going anywhere anytime soon. Then i'd buy games. As much as I love collecting physical games, I just don't see physical media staying. Which is why I'm trying to rack up my collection of older software now. I think digital copies have their advantages.. but I do agree, as a whole, I wish disks would stay. Hell.. screw disks.. just give me needless packaging to put on my shelf :D
