  1. Not really. I think it's pretty easy to understand. And I think if you're savvy enough to figure out how to get their game service working in your browser, you can understand which option you'd want. I mean, people said multiple SKUs would confuse people.. and it hasn't. Personally, I want the micro center version. I don't want to play this on my computer as much as I'd want to play on my tv. That and if it's ID driven, you'll be able to do both . Lastly, regarding the "Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo won't take this lying down", that's what people said when Microsoft entered the market. They thought it was laughable for them to even try. I'm just saying, whoever does something great, well, first, gets the worm. If the Wii can sell millions of Wii Fits to non-gamers, parents and grand parents, and the iPhone game software sales can make PSP and DS game sales look like freshman efforts, why can't this company do the same? The promise of never upgrading to a new system pretty much had me from the start . I'm sure that alone will appeal to many people, fanboys or not. Remember fanboy loyalties are actually pretty fragile. One console can make even the most dedicated run away screaming. Look at the PS3 and Wii for example. PS3 is the successor to the world's best selling console.. and for the most part, you hear crickets over on that end now. The Wii's pretty much swapped who it's appealing to, leaving big nintendo fans like me, moving onto greener pastures (not that I don't buy wii games still, just not as much these days..). I'm just saying, it's a masterful idea, and if done right, this could really take off. I'm VERY excited, and with companies like EA and Ubisoft behind them already, it's not like they're begging for attention here.
  2. This shows a LOT more. I love the look of the box and the controller! http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/gdc09-re...vice-and-micro/ Wow.. I'm actually excited! Well, providing I'm 1000 miles from a cloud server, I think I'm getting this when it comes out this year. I don't think I've been this excited about a system since the Saturn . Thanks RT for posting the original link so I could see this!
  3. Free bump: I got my games in the mail today. I haven't gotten to test any, but everything seems to be in good shape. Klonoa 2 had a faded cover and all the games and cases needed a good, serious wipe down (poor Jess has not discovered hand soap lol), but it was an easy clean . Thanks again .
  4. Usually, this sort of thing (like the Phantom) just generates a chuckle from me. However, this actually sounds quite promising. I've already seen what cloud processing can do, and I'm sure once it's perfected we can start seeing a lot more. We're already getting Quake in a browser for God's sake, this could be entirely possible. I'd actually like a very low powered console that did this all online. My only concern would be how long the service would be for, thus how long would I have my games. Lastly, while I do think this guy is right (ie: I do think cloud processing consoles are the future), I am concerned as a collector. I guess this means getting all the Sega Saturn titles I can find again haha.
  5. Yes, I'm 100% positive it's the original seal. Japanese psone games had a very distinct plastic wrap with a flap on the top of the back of the case.
  6. Selling my NES that was owned by me and me alone. Letting my dad throw away my pong system because the RF adapter was fried (he lied when he said that the console as a whole wouldn't ever work since it broke. I think he said that to get a NES....) Selling my original N64 and games. Had to rebuy it all.. Selling my ps2, my ps2 slim, my other ps2 slim.. and all the games in between over the years. I'm not getting rid of this one damnit! haha Selling Dracula X for the Sega Saturn. Wow, that all sounds so depressing. The good news is that I have everything I want now that I used to have. Just goes to show you, if you aren't 110% about selling something, DONT GET RID OF IT.
  7. I'm wondering how much more games are that are sealed. I ordered a copy of a psone import that's already pretty uncommon. Much to my surprise, the "used" game was sealed.. brand new. I'm wondering, should I take it out of the plastic wrap? The only old game that was "new" that I opened was Virtual Open Tennis. I figured it wasn't worth much, so why not open it. The game in question btw is SquareSoft's Internal Section.
  8. I'm looking for a SMS that is in great condition. I don't want one that's beat up, and I'd like a controller that is actually a SMS one, with hook ups. Any games with boxes are a plus as well. I'd like to see if I could get some of the accessories, including .. and most importantly.. the 3d glasses. Thanks guys. D-
  9. I'd like.. now if only I can find a SMS in good condition >_>
  10. Geez I really hope you're being sarcastic
  11. Very well put. The numbers put up are slanted. Of course Call of Duty will sell better on 360 and PS3 than the Wii. I didn't see hardly any of the Wii's big titles that sell tons on that list. If you compare what the Wii is strong at compared to the 360 and PS3, I'm sure you'll see that those games sell better on the Wii than them by far! It's different markets. Just because the Wii doesn't sell billions of copies of CoD, doesn't mean that it doesn't sell software. It just sells software that plays towards it's demographic. I'd love to see more 360/PS3 style games on the Wii (like Madworld), but they simply don't sell.. so if you're a developer, why would you make games for the Wii like that?
  12. I might be interested in Pikmin just because I never played it and always wanted to. Though of the price, maybe it would be worth just getting the GC game. I'll have to think about that one. Metroid though...eh. It's a good series, but I don't need to play the first 2 (especially the second..ughhh) again honestly. What I'm concerned is the line that separates GC games from Wii games will be even thinner than before, and it's going to be even more painfully obvious that there's really no difference in most of these games other than the control method. In fact, I still have yet to see a game as pretty as Rogue Squadron 2 on the Wii.. so you could technically say the GC produced better visuals on whole . I know it's not all about graphics here guys, but it does feel odd that Nintendo is putting GC games on the Wii with Wii controls, and ... to be honest.. no one is going to be able to tell these aren't real Wii games. That's sad. If they made Mario Tennis Wii, it would look pretty much exactly like the GC version. I still can't wait to see more games like Mario Galaxy that take the Wii to new heights. Sadly, I don't think most devs (including Nintendo themselves most of the time ) are interested in doing this.
  13. There's plenty of games for the Wii to buy, current releases though?.. not so much, but like I said before there are TONS of earlier great games for the system which ANY gamer should buy. Some off the top of my head are Zack and Wiki, Mario Galaxy, Excite Truck, Zelda, Super Paper Mario, both import Gundam games, Deadly Creatures, Mario Kart, Elebits..... I have plenty. After Mario Kart came out though, awesome games have been a bit dry in the release schedule. Old Wii > New Wii
  14. I hope you weren't referring to me when you posted that. I grew up with Nintendo consoles and love them (I swear I'm one of the 10 people till this day that thinks the GC should have been in the #2 spot at least..). I think I stated pretty much what you said, in that a blockbuster title is different for the wii as it's a different audience with different games. You have to understand it's not about HD graphics. If you think us fellow gamers on this site are that shallow, you're sorely mistaken! I have 40 disk based Wii games last I checked, and I love them all (excpet Red Steel.. screw you Red Steel, you made me cry). It's just in the last year or so, there hasn't been much I have wanted to play on the Wii. It doesn't mean the Wii "sucks", it just means that there are AAA games I'd rather play on other consoles for now. I don't understand why you think we're dealing in absolutes here. If you truly love your systems you should be able to honestly critique each one. Since we're talking about the Wii, yes, right now, the Wii does not have many of the "big" titles. If anything, it sounds like all you have is a Wii. I'd suggest getting at least 2 if not all 3, and maybe you won't be so bitey when it comes to critiquing systems you own. There are tons of great games for all the systems, but you have to be honest with yourself... there simply aren't as many games to buy on the Wii as far as new releases versus the other two competitors. PS3 will be having a great year this year. I'd love it if the Wii could make 09 like it was in 07. That was a GREAT year for the Wii. The Wii's game plan may be "working fine for them so far", and that's great for them.. I'm honestly VERY excited to see a Nintendo system be popular again . However, it doesn't mean that their games, as of late, have any interest in people in their previously targeted demographic. I've said it once and I'll say it again, the last 1st party Nintendo game I've bought was Mario Kart Wii. Besides Deadly Creatures, and maybe Mad World (still debating to try it or not), there hasn't been anything since the April when M. Kart came out, that I've wanted to buy on the white box.
  15. And unfortunately I think that's pretty much where everyone stops in the process to upgrade the firmware... with a theory :-/. Ah well, i love my PS2 as it is. Though I really do need a DVD player >_>. Sadly enough, I have all these systems and none play DVDs haha. I have my mac, and the one in the family room. But the family room one isn't doing hot and who likes watching movies on the computer?
  16. No duh. The Wii was never really meant to be the type of console to play RE 5 from the start. And of course Metroid Prime didn't sell as well as Halo. It's a game to appeal to a fan base, not to sell systems. If the Wii had games like SF 4, then I wouldn't have wanted an HD system so badly, ya know? I like playing my Wii, and there are many "blockbusters" that don't appeal to me that are only on HD systems (like Left 4 Dead or Bioshock), but the Wii is for casual play.. it's always been about that. If you want something with more substance than simpler play, it's going to be hard to find that.
  17. Simple? If you know how you'd go about doing that (like.. in detail) I'd be curious to hear your theory. I'm not very savvy when it comes down to this sort of stuff, so any insight would be interesting to hear.
  18. I might need to try this. How long is the game though, and is there any point to do the things you do to people? (ie: any story here?). I think 50 is a bit high for what I'm seeing unless I'm missing something here, but I'd gladly pay 29.99 for it when it comes down in price. From what I see, it looks like a very stylized sandbox game.
  19. Money sent via Paypal, and free bump!
  20. I think this was the following story: "Up next with ABC News, do systems with names that sound like genitalia attract pedophiles? Find out what you can do to have predators stop using their "Wii" on your child. - And tonight at 11, xxx-box? Our findings in popular games like Grand Theft Auto might surprise you."
  21. Yea guys, I didn't send it in...no way! I was just curious if I could get a firmware update on it, but that doesn't seem possible unless I'm a developer. The only theory I've found on the net is to put the firmware from a stock ps2 on a sony hdd, and transfer it to the Test PS2, but I don't think anyone has tried it.. and it sure won't be me doing it first. The system plays games, and most importantly (like my debug PS1) plays imports. This is already starting to come very handy with the game reviews I'm doing. I now have 5 systems (used to have 6, the import DC broke) that can play import games, so that really does open a lot of doors in game collecting. So anywho, both the Test PS2 and Debug PS1 are safe and sound, and staying with me. I didn't much like how Sony treated me on the phone, but then again.. I never have. Thank god they make interesting systems is all I have to say...
