I much preferred 3D Land to 3D World. Not saying that 3D World is a bad game, but I'm personally willing to call 3D Land the best 3D platformer ... period.
Same here, someone mentioned "soul-less", and that's what World feels like to me. That and Mario feels like he's going slower than he should (and yes, I'm running). Land felt much better in my opinion. Although I wouldn't say it's the best 3d platformer, lol. There's no way 3D Land beat out Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Galaxy 1 and 2, Kirby or Phychonauts.

Doesn't seem like any mods are listening

Nevermind, thought we were talking about 3D World, haha.
EDIT:

PS4 has been gone for a while now, unfortunately. Kept having issues, and Sony didn't want to help after a while and were quite rude about it, so I left. I don't give money to companies that treat me like a number. And considering how much financial issues they have, I don't think doing what they did was the best of ideas. I've had an Xbox One since, and I've been very happy with it.
Honestly, I'm glad to be starting again on the Wii U. They had a horrible drought before, but I feel like it's now a good time to finally delve into the console. Been absolutely loving Mario Kart 8, although I'm not too terribly impressed with 3D World atm. DK TF is awesome though, and I can't wait for Toad's new game, the new StarFox and of course Smash. Here's to hoping we'll get a new F-Zero soon. One can hope.

Yep, just had the port problem tonight with the 6 button controller, so it's not the pad.
Big thanks to Mark T for helping me fix my Duo R

That's kinda bothered me for a while. Either an oversight, or it's being done on purpose. If it's being done on purpose, ... well let's just hope that's not the case. To take that grudge for that many years against Nintendo on a forum that's supposed to be open-minded to all consoles would just be shallow and childish.
You can argue why there isn't a forum for all classic consoles, as many aren't big enough to get their own forum, but there's only three modern mainstream consoles out. Wii U should be listed if XBox One and PS4 are there.

I could honestly care less. While it might be "nice", neither Sony or Microsoft have proven that they're very good at backwards compatibility. If they add it in later as an afterthought, I guarantee you it'll be worse than previous efforts.
Either way, if they never got it, I wouldn't care so much. I'd personally much rather have backwards compatibility in PSN/XBL games, as I have a metric ton of downloadables I wish I could play until games start coming out for these systems.

Thanks!
I'll hunt down one of these connectors so I can play it on my broadcast monitor.

Mine was the Unitrex Video Pro
Had a lot of fun on that sucker pre-2600

Nice, that looks pretty similar in respects to its features. That must have been odd to have to players controlling their "player" by holding the same piece of hardware.

-
I picked up a mint condition deluxe Wii U and gamepad (and cords of course) with physical, cased copies of Mario 3d world and Mario kart.
All I paid was 180. Couldn't be happier. I sold my last Wii U during the drought. I really wanted to try Mario kart 8 but I wasn't willing to spend 300 again. So happy! Especially since eBay prices for Wii u consoles are absolutely through the roof.

Yeah, it's black and white. It hasn't come in yet, but I do remember our RF adapter being much different looking than this. Otherwise it's the same system. It looks like it's just an RCA plug. Is it not? I remember my old N20's RF looking kinda ghetto when I was young, so I'm assuming it was a cheapo third party accessory.
I've asked my dad many times over the years, even when I was a kid, where he got it. He always says the same thing, that he picked it up when he was younger from a store, but doesn't remember which one. But he did get it new.
-
A long time ago, before my dad got his (quickly became mine...) NES when I was a young kid, my first video game console was a Philips N20 pong system.
It was my dad's, and we played it all the time. Maybe a little too much. The RF adapter burned up, and he was told by a local electronics place that it would be impossible to find a replacement. So in the trash it went. I haven't seen it since before I played Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt for the first time, so my memory was a bit faded.
A few years ago, I made a thread on Assembler Games where I described the look of the machine and asked for help in it's identification... where instead I was promptly made fun of for not just buying "any other Pong machine because it's all the same" and was basically chased out of my own thread before I could post a single reply.
So I did the homework and found that it was an N20 Philips machine, and I've been looking for one ever since. Once every blue moon I'll find it, but usually the shippers won't send it to the US, as I believe it's a French system and always seems to be coming from Europe. (no, I have no clue why/how my dad found this system in the US back in the 1970s)
Well, long story short, I finally got one for a good price... and it's COMPLETE! Woo Hoo! Heck, the one I owned wasn't even complete. Heck, the one I owned was all yellowed, this is in near mint condition, and I couldn't be happier.
I now live half a country away, but my dad will be taking a vacation towards the end of the year to see us for the first time since we moved here in AZ earlier this year. It'll be the first time we'll play the system together since I was 5. I plan on keeping it a surprise until he arrives. Can't wait!
Here are some pictures!!!!

I don't mind paying, but no one has offered their services.
And honestly, I don't think trying my non-existent soldering skills on such a rare system is a good idea
. Austin:
Yeah, I love the PC Engine. Unlike most systems, there's no "drought" period where I don't want to play it for a while. Something about the control, graphics and gameplay that just makes this system perfectly suit my gaming tastes. And yeah, really wanted some CD games. Bought Panic Bomber (the puzzle game) and been loving it.
Btw, I bought a 6 button RX pad, and I haven't had any disconnection issues since. Then again, I've only played for about 30 minutes with the new controller. I know for a fact that my Shuttle controller isn't damaged, and it disconnected on that one, so who knows...
I'll test with the 6 button controller more. If it gives out, then I'll post here, and hopefully someone can help me reflow the controller port board.

Nobody knows how to reflow these?

Not sure where the best place is to post this, but I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who would be able to help me out.
I just got a PC Engine Duo-R, which works great, and I LOVE it. But after a few minutes, usually the I or II button will go out, or the pause button. The only fix is to jiggle the controller port, generally towards the right.
I've read this is a common problem (pretty much THE only problem) on the Duo-R and Duo-RX systems, as the controller port solder starts to crack. While these systems don't suffer from bad cd lasers or capacitors, this seems to be a problem most come across at least at some point down the line.
I don't know how to solder, and I'm sure as hell not going to try on my rare Duo-R. Has anyone done this fix and would be willing to help me out?
Thanks everyone. -

I saw this when Joystiq posted the video. I felt less disgusted by the kids comments (to be fair we all teased our parents technology when we were young) and more disturbed by how many of these kids had iPads and I phones. Seriously some of these kids aren't even ten and they have devices that make a 3do look cheap.
I grew up in an upper middle class family and my parents hardly ever bought me much of anything. Because it was expensive! I remember coming home from toys r us with a new copy of super Mario brothers 3. I felt like king for a day. When you got a game it was a special occasion. Systems, if you were lucky, were only Christmas presents.
I donno. Kids today just feel more entitled.

Welcome, I'm on my third myself, haha. Speaking from experience, now is about the first time I'd jump on the bandwagon. Before this there was pretty slim pickins for games.
Mario Kart has been nothing short of astounding. And this is coming from someone who owns an Xbox One and owned a PS4. That's about the best compliment I can give the game, that despite being on weaker hardware, looks the part of a next gen game.
