Found my first gaming console
DaytonaUSA replied to DaytonaUSA's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah, it's black and white. It hasn't come in yet, but I do remember our RF adapter being much different looking than this. Otherwise it's the same system. It looks like it's just an RCA plug. Is it not? I remember my old N20's RF looking kinda ghetto when I was young, so I'm assuming it was a cheapo third party accessory. I've asked my dad many times over the years, even when I was a kid, where he got it. He always says the same thing, that he picked it up when he was younger from a store, but doesn't remember which one. But he did get it new. -
A long time ago, before my dad got his (quickly became mine...) NES when I was a young kid, my first video game console was a Philips N20 pong system. It was my dad's, and we played it all the time. Maybe a little too much. The RF adapter burned up, and he was told by a local electronics place that it would be impossible to find a replacement. So in the trash it went. I haven't seen it since before I played Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt for the first time, so my memory was a bit faded. A few years ago, I made a thread on Assembler Games where I described the look of the machine and asked for help in it's identification... where instead I was promptly made fun of for not just buying "any other Pong machine because it's all the same" and was basically chased out of my own thread before I could post a single reply. So I did the homework and found that it was an N20 Philips machine, and I've been looking for one ever since. Once every blue moon I'll find it, but usually the shippers won't send it to the US, as I believe it's a French system and always seems to be coming from Europe. (no, I have no clue why/how my dad found this system in the US back in the 1970s) Well, long story short, I finally got one for a good price... and it's COMPLETE! Woo Hoo! Heck, the one I owned wasn't even complete. Heck, the one I owned was all yellowed, this is in near mint condition, and I couldn't be happier. I now live half a country away, but my dad will be taking a vacation towards the end of the year to see us for the first time since we moved here in AZ earlier this year. It'll be the first time we'll play the system together since I was 5. I plan on keeping it a surprise until he arrives. Can't wait! Here are some pictures!!!!

Can Anyone Help? PC Engine Duo-R Controller Port
DaytonaUSA replied to DaytonaUSA's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I don't mind paying, but no one has offered their services. And honestly, I don't think trying my non-existent soldering skills on such a rare system is a good idea . Austin: Yeah, I love the PC Engine. Unlike most systems, there's no "drought" period where I don't want to play it for a while. Something about the control, graphics and gameplay that just makes this system perfectly suit my gaming tastes. And yeah, really wanted some CD games. Bought Panic Bomber (the puzzle game) and been loving it. Btw, I bought a 6 button RX pad, and I haven't had any disconnection issues since. Then again, I've only played for about 30 minutes with the new controller. I know for a fact that my Shuttle controller isn't damaged, and it disconnected on that one, so who knows... I'll test with the 6 button controller more. If it gives out, then I'll post here, and hopefully someone can help me reflow the controller port board. -
Can Anyone Help? PC Engine Duo-R Controller Port
DaytonaUSA replied to DaytonaUSA's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Nobody knows how to reflow these? -
Not sure where the best place is to post this, but I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who would be able to help me out. I just got a PC Engine Duo-R, which works great, and I LOVE it. But after a few minutes, usually the I or II button will go out, or the pause button. The only fix is to jiggle the controller port, generally towards the right. I've read this is a common problem (pretty much THE only problem) on the Duo-R and Duo-RX systems, as the controller port solder starts to crack. While these systems don't suffer from bad cd lasers or capacitors, this seems to be a problem most come across at least at some point down the line. I don't know how to solder, and I'm sure as hell not going to try on my rare Duo-R. Has anyone done this fix and would be willing to help me out? Thanks everyone.

Offers welcome! You wont insult me . Everything has to go to make room . -
I saw this when Joystiq posted the video. I felt less disgusted by the kids comments (to be fair we all teased our parents technology when we were young) and more disturbed by how many of these kids had iPads and I phones. Seriously some of these kids aren't even ten and they have devices that make a 3do look cheap. I grew up in an upper middle class family and my parents hardly ever bought me much of anything. Because it was expensive! I remember coming home from toys r us with a new copy of super Mario brothers 3. I felt like king for a day. When you got a game it was a special occasion. Systems, if you were lucky, were only Christmas presents. I donno. Kids today just feel more entitled.

Yeah. Nintendo selling out to GMO cereal companies who use cancer causing dyes in their kids cereal. Awesome!

Added more items. Lowered some prices. -
Hey. You should know there were warehouses where these games were stored where they were not stored properly. They warped basically. The information layer got effected. A famous game this happened with was space channel five. Finding a copy where it works from beginning to end without graphical issues can be hard. I once went through five copies till I found a perfect one. So no. Its not your system. If your DC can run OK on any other game I almost guarantee this is your problem Hope I helped.

Please be wary of going the "Duo" route, either the american one or the Japanese one. Duo-R and Duo-RX are the only ones that won't give you a gigantic headache. I'd stick with those. Especially for the price you pay on a TurboDuo, which is downright ridiculous.
-
There are 3DO owners out there who say that on some games burning on cheap CDs, like Memorex, simply doesn't work. Other than burning at the lowest setting possible, maybe try a better quality brand, like Sony or something.

The save attatchements are cheap. I got my Shuttle PC Engine one brand new on eBay for like 40 bucks. Of course, with phones, remembering passwords is easier than ever, like the previous poster said. But I do find it very convenient in games like Bomberman to just select the memory option and begin where I left off. Plus, at least for the shuttle, the booster looks pretty cool. Smart choice on going PC Engine, though. TG16 hardware and software has gone way out of wack. When a Turbo Duo costs 500-600 bucks.. hardware which is identicle to the PC Engine Duo (ie: not the most reliable hardware compared to the Duo-R and Duo-RX), things are just plain silly! As far as I'm concerned, if you want to play American games on a PC Engine that badly, a simple region switch will do the job... or just get an Everdrive. Either way, PC Engine is the way to go, so you're doing the right thing.

Offers are always welcome, just PM them. I'm not really looking for too much. Atm, I'm only really looking for PC Engine CD games. -
I have a PC Engine Shuttle, which I love. But I wanted to get into the CD based games, so I just bought a PC Engine Duo-R. The regular non-R or RX duos, along with the US Turboduo, were plagued with cd issues. Remember, CD games are region free. And you could easily region mod a PC Engine Duo-R, or get an everdrive like me which allows you to play US and Japanese games on one system. But I love this system. I really, really do. It's probably my favorite system, which comes as a shock to me, honestly, as I didn't have one nor heard of it when I was a kid. If you don't want to play the unexplicably high price for "duo" technology, look into getting a PC Engine instead of a TG-16.

Haha, sorry bud . I'm all for offers, but free might hurt my wallet a bit too much -
Hey all, I have a Neo Geo CD (model 2) for sale. This Neo Geo CD is in great condition, comes with the original power supply, av cord, and Neo Geo CD style controller pad (with four multicolor face buttons). The region switch is in the disc tray, and will toggle things like language, region, blood, etc. The system and controller is in great condition. I'll have pictures up later today. SOLD PC Engine Shuttle system & backup battery expansion with original box (for the battery)! Comes with the system in great shape, original Shuttle controller, and av/power cords. Runs perfectly, and looks great. Hucard visor looks great, with no cracks or broken hinges. No ridiculous Japan shipping charges! Battery was new as of just a month ago, so it'll last you a long, long time. Recharges with every use! $185 Sega Saturn Netlink Bundle! This is a very special bundle. This not only comes with a slew of great SS games, but the system itself is completely region free (from Japan, NA, and PAL! changed with the press of the reset button). But that's not the best part. It comes with the VERY hard to find and quite expensive Netlink Edition Virtual On Cyber Troopers game (copies typically go for roughly 150 dollars), and a sealed copy of the Netlink Edition Sega Rally! Also included is a boxed version of the Sega Netlink and a Sega Netlink Keyboard adapter (so you can use any PS/2 keyboard with the system) (inserts included, inner cardboard is not). It comes with a Sega model 2 controller in great shape, along with the following games: Boxed: IMPORT Manx TT Superbike, IMPORT WipEout XL (VERY RARE), IMPORT Hang On GP 95, Virtua Cop, Fighters Megamix, Andretti Racing, Bust a Move 2, Cyber Speedway, Sega Rally Championship, Netlink Edition Sega Rally Championship, Netlink Edition Virtual On Cyber Troopers, Worldwide Soccer, Christmas Nights (in original sleeve). Not Boxed: Daytona USA, Nights into Dreams, Tetris Plus, PGA Tour 97, Galactic Attack, Virtua Fighter 1, Virtua Racing, F1 Challenge, 4x4 Hardcore, The Lost World, ManxTT Super Bike, High Velocity, Sega Touring Car Championship, The Mansion of Hidden Souls, Sky Target, WipEout $300 Sega Master System Bundle. Great condition Sega Master System with Hyperkin Genesis controller (because the original SMS controller dpads were downright terrible), av/power cords and a ton of games. The boxes and art though look brand new, not all have manuals. Carts are great condition outside of loose two games which show a little wear and tear. Boxed: Fantasy Zone II The Ninja Out Run Space Harrier Choplifter Monopoly Hang On / Safari Hunt Time Soldiers Not boxed: Capt Silver Rampage SOLD Beautifully modded Sega Nomad by the original creator of the LCD mod. He no longer will be making any more of these systems, and these are done with the best of components and quality control. This is a perfectly modded Sega Nomad with the remote control to adjust brightness as obviously the old knob does nothing to adjust this new, clear, monitor. No more motion blur, no more washed out colors. This will REALLY impress. System is in great condition, with a replaced screen protector. Minor scratches, but overall amazing shape. Comes with original Sega AC adapter, and a few games. Jurassic Park, 6-Pack (includes games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Revenge of Shinobi, Golden Axe, Columbs, Super Hang-On and Streets of Rage), Frogger, and Outrun 2019. SOLD Xbox Bundle: SOLD Virtual Boy controller, great condition, no battery pack: $5 Deathsmiles game, box and soundtrack (no faceplate included): SOLD NEC Avenue 6 - 6 button PC Engine controller SOLD Tandy 1400 LT laptop in fantastic shape. Non-yellowed, no battery though. Comes with original case, software and ac adapter. Beware , this is heavy. Shipping costs might be high. Needs to go! $15 obo

I kinda swore off Sony since my disappointment with the ps4. But honestly I might buy this just for grim fandango.
