  1. Since when is the 3DS a virtual reality system?
  2. Yeah kinda surprised you havent' heard of that...
  3. Can't say I was a huge fan of the us system, but the Japanese 360 feels like a modern dreamcast (in game selection). Just bought it and for the first time really falling in love with the 360. Would definitely say its worth getting now. Nothing to wait on, games wise. All the games are out and cheap to purchase. Why not?
  4. To be fair, I never suggested anyone to pay $200 for the Hori pad. You can find them on ebay in the 50 dollar range every once in a while, you just have to patient. As for no guarantee the Hori pad won't, while "technically" true, not one person has complained of the issue after they updated the design in Sept 2009. And Hori has sworn up and down that the issue has been perminately fixed. In comparison, like most other 360 controllers, prior to Sept 2009 there were tons of negative reviews about ghosting sticks. There are even a few people who have updated their review every few months since 2009 to let people know they've still held up. Like I said before, don't be nuts and pay full "worth" price. But if you see one on eBay, snatch it up instead of a standard or typical 3rd party pad.
  5. Agree about the space shooters. Like Disney making that crap excuse for a flight game instead of a true flight simulator (forget the name of the new game, Attack Squadron or something like that...). Heck, even upset me that Studio Liverpool (when they were still with Sony) only made WipEout. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE me some WipEout, but where was our PS3 version of Colony Wars? It seems to be a genre last seen in the PS1 and DC times, and never seen again, and it kinda sucks. There have been other space flight games, not many, but a few. But they usually suffer from a low budget and the experience isn't anywhere as captivating as the older titles. So heck, there's that. Nintendo could totally capitalize on that. Can you imagine a Colony Wars-esque game in the Starfox universe? **** I'd buy another Wii U for that. Who wouldn't? Not like they wouldn't try it. StarFox's formula has gone from flight game to platformer, strategy game to 3rd person shooter. Why not?
  6. Heck I still remember convincing myself Daytona USA would come out when I sold my ps3 for my original wii u as I loved the game and didn't want to be without it. None game. None of Segas arcade games came that are on every other last gen system. Nintendo needs to start seriously convincing Devs to release things on their eshop.
  7. I totally agree reaper man. Rogue leader alone sold me on a gc back in the day. Soul calibur 2, pso, and fzero gx were just added incentive. Wii U doesn't offer anything like that for me yet. Which is why I probably got bored with the two I bought. It doesn't have to be all "call of duty". There's third party games Nintendo could desperately utilize right now outside the fps franchise. Spitballing here, but a good "Nintendo" match would be Katamari. Sure the series is a bit long in the tooth, but it would be a great match and one they've never had. Xbox and ps both have had Katamari games. Why? Same with ace combat, virtua fighter etc etc etc. none are fps. Third party relations. And Nintendo needs to fix them ASAP.
  8. I can understand that NE146. Each offers something for someone. Like I said above, if you have an XL and you don't get hand cramps, stick with the XL for sure. But if you have a 3DS, and want a better built system that's comfortable to hold and has much better screens, the 2DS is a good choice . So yeah, in your case, I'd advise you to just stay with your XL.
  9. No. It's not auto aim issue trust me. It's like someone moves the joystick or you. You can not even be touching it and it'll either move your character or camera, depending on which joystick is acting up.
  10. The auction was taken down, not surprisingly. With the model number out there, I wonder if Nintendo knows what dev was trying to sell it. Anywho, it's not just ended. The URL no longer shows any auction, and it's not shown in the "ended' section of my Watched category.
  11. Totally, which is why I don't think Nintendo is going anywhere. But still, they need to change or in the future it could hurt them and their image. Changing now is their best bet before things roll out of control.
  12. Vgchartz shows what I'm talking about, regarding Nintendo's need for 3rd party titles. For the Wii U, in the top 40 for the week globally, Nintendo has 4 first party games for Wii U... no third party games. Sony and Microsoft have about 2-3 first party games. And a dozen + third party games. IE: Nintendo can compete for top 40 1st party games. What's missing is any third party support. Nintendo should focus on that like their life depended on it.
  13. Once again, did you read my first post? I made this very clear. Only stupid fanboys think that Nintendo is running out of money. The point of this article... stated in my initial post.... is that, simply, as IWATA SAID, you can't keep running a company with a structure that runs your profit into the ground. Basically, are they going away? Heck no. But it doesn't mean they should keep doing what they're doing on the console front, because it's not working.
  14. First, did you read the article? They're forecasting a huge loss for 2014, which means Nintendo will post a three year straight loss. Outside of other markets, only talking about gaming markets, Nintendo isn't doing better than anyone right now, which is bad for Nintendo... really bad, as this isn't usual. As far as the 3DS picking itself up, while I agree that it did, NIntendo's portables have never failed. Ever. They have the third party and frankly 1st party support to carry a crippled system to success. Other than the "lighting in a bottle" moment with the Wii, Nintendo's consoles have never been able to overcome a slow start. N64, Gamecube, and now Wii U have never really gone from mediocre performers to Wii/3DS like successes. And in my opinion, I think it's because of the lack of 1st party games Nintendo makes for their consoles and the lack of third party support they have for their consoles, in comparison to their handhelds. There's no content to prop up the Wii U. Honestly. One or two games won't do it. They need a barrage of must have titles. And I dont see that coming.
  15. Screen wise? It is the same size as an original 3DS. Physical size? It's plenty big, trust me. Which makes it comfy to use compared to any dual screen Nintendo handheld.
  16. That article was very insightful. Just read it. Thanks for sharing that with us. I didn't know things were that rocky in the beginning. It's embarrassing. I don't think this is necessarily a good idea. Sega has the same problem as Nintendo right now, which is they keep pushing out games every other second with their main mascot in it, but seem to forget the plethora of IPs they seem to forget they own that they could exploit (Daytona USA, Shenmue, Jet Set, Space Channel 5, Phantasy Star (well... at least in America), Toe Jam and Earl etc etc etc etc etc). And honestly, I don't think Nintendo needs Sega. They have plenty of IPs. Enough to last a lifetime of software sales. They just need to freakin' use 'em.
  17. What he meant was, it was a one in a million for Nintendo. IE: Did they do it? Sure, but do they have the track record to show they can do it over and over? Sadly, no.
  18. Totally agree. Been saying that myself. The air is old and stagnant at Nintendo. They need new people to rustle the features and make a surprising come back.
  19. Completely agree. Like them or not, they bring something different to the table, and their IPs (even if they never use them....) are invaluable to gaming. I don't want them to go away at all. But I wonder how they can reimage themselves to get back on top. Who knows.. maybe they can think of a way of reinvisioning gaming as we see it, not just in how we play but what we play on. Could be interesting.... only time will tell.
  20. Completely agree about the UI btw... but anywho: This is the issue though. Despite what they've said, do you think Nintendo is capable of doing something THAT radicle. In their defense, they did come out with the Wii and started the motion control thing. But the other side of the sword would be that they botched online, and the system wasn't powerful enough to last as long as the 360 and PS3. Bottom line: If they did something radicle and new, are they capable of not having it heavily gimped in some way, or do you think they could pull off a portable device that honestly answers to the needs of casuals AND gamers?
  21. It's not just one thing. First, I think their intended audience IS confused still on what the Wii U is (casuals really don't know nearly as much as gamers like us who are on forums all day, lol). The name doesn't help, nor did their TV commercials which only focused on the controller (heck, now they don't even really advertise on TV anymore). And yeah, look at sales for Zelda on the 3DS. Is it selling well? Sure. For a Zelda game? Heck no. Same with Mario 3D World on the Wii U. The catch 22 here is, they can't just lean on F-Zero and Starfox (ie: old IPs they haven't touched in a while), because they didn't really move consoles. F-Zero GX sold only about a million worldwide, didn't it? Basically, their heavy hitters aren't easily moving systems anymore and I think they're freaking out. I think what they really need is 3rd party support. If I was Nintendo, and I had all that cash, I'd buy out 3rd party exclusives like it was going out of style and make the Wii U (or whatever their future console is) a MUST have not just for 1st party games. Think about it. It's why the 360 was so popular. Sure they had Halo and Gears, but that's not why MOST gamers and casuals bought a 360. It was for all the 3rd party support, and they had a metric ton of it. Sure it cost Microsoft an arm and a leg, but with Nintendo losing billions of yen a year 3 years in a row, does it really matter if they lose a little more to help them in the future?
  22. But one thing to think about here, Iwata does question the business model of making a game player (console), and selling a game through traditional means for a high price. He was talking about the Wii U when he said this. Does this mean the traditional "console" as we know it from Nintendo is going to be radically different in terms of how games are bought, for what price, and what the system is? Or am I just misreading something here? Been saying this a long time, I personally think a good idea would be to merge the console and handheld into one. Make it connect to the TV wirelessly (like the gamepad does to the Wii U), and have the handheld act as a "gamepad screen". But the system and all it's hardware is in the controller, thus is it's own portable as well. Frankly, the Wii was a bolt of lighting. They haven't had that kind of success with a home console since the SNES, and maybe never again. Maybe leaning on the handheld side of things would be a better move, while still retaining "console abilities" by letting it display on a TV. Just a thought...
  23. I think having their own smart phone would be smart initially, but could lead to problems. Hear me out: Phones are updated every year. Nintendo would need to keep up with smart phone demand and update their hardware as often as any other smart phone. That creates all sorts of issues with segmentation in your market. That would be confusing to handle. "Oh, you have the Game Boy Phone?" , "No, No, the Game Boy Phone 3.1", "Oh is that the one with 3D?" , "No, no, that's 4, that's coming out next fall". Blehgh. I think what would be better is Nintendo making a Virtual Console app, and starting there before making original software for phones. Let's face it, tons of people use emulators. Make one app that handles them all, and legally. Heck, maybe make an attachable controller mod for iPhone and Samsung phones for SNES games that need more than just two buttons and a dpad. Just spit balling here, but unless Samsung or HTC or whoever made the phone-device for Nintendo, I just don't see Nintendo being able to keep up making a new model every year and making it clear for customers what software works for what phone revision. Plus, Nintendo and operating systems.... let's not even touch that with a ten foot pole. They can barely figure out online. They should just make an app on an existing OS with an existing App Store.
