  1. I dont know if this is a dumb idea or not.... What about splitting up the classic gamming forum?
  2. I have an extra one if you need one. PM me for details. I will let it go cheap as my other 2 port is dead.
  3. I skiped the GBA and went straight for the GBA SP. The main reason I bought one is so that I can play my favorite classic SNES games. THe only complaint I really have with it is its small size. I have pretty big hands and after an hour of playing, my hands feel like I have been playing a 5200 game too long.
  4. This reminds me of Jackass when Henry Rollins is driving the truck.
  5. Well, Im gonna let some people have a few details of what I am building that is simmilar to this. I am in the process of building a Atari 5200 arcade cabinet. There is a guy locally that makes arcade cabinets and Im trying to work out a deal with him. I Got a Multicart now, And I have a couple of ideas floating through my head. I am doing away with the 5200 controllers themselves and make my own style arcade controls with self centering joysticks.(built in of course) More of a personal enjoyment for me. More show off than anything. I like to have an arcade style 5200 no promises though
  6. I got 10 of them in a thrift box. I dont know if they work, Im not a NES collector.
  7. I wanted to make a suggestion I am a co-mod of the tech forum over at www.fordvschevy.com. Ed (webmaster) has implemented a thing to where you can preview the first post in a thread without opening the thread itself (just mover the courser over the thread name and the preview box appears). Ever since Ed introduce this, I loved it everyday. I can see what the post is acutally about instead of wasting time opening threads that are not of my interest. -Emerson
  8. The 5200 PS is unique. If you have a 2 Port, PM me. I got an extra one. Probably the best games are Pac-man, Pole Position, Gremlins and HERO. There are others, but I play these the most.
  9. Awsome Do yall take Money orders though?
  10. Another thrift store find. I got 2 Wico Joysticks for the 2600 up for grabs. They are the regular ones (Bat handle with the fire button in it) and Im selling them for a $1.00 a piece. I ship continental US and cannada. PM me. -Emerson
  11. I just wanted to add. I have bought several things from Mcgrail on Ebay. I never had one problem and I recommend him to everyone.
  12. I am starting to spend too much money on collecting systems and Carts. I probably spent $500 in the past week and I need to stop it before my bank account is empty
  13. I have never seen a 5200 stick "break". The fire buttons quit working due to the oil from your fingers getting in between the contacts. Once you get the update fire buttons, start pad, and REV 9 flex circuit, the problems are over. Just remember to wash your hands before playing to keep oil from working in the controller. 5200 -vs- 7800: Now that I have both systems and played the 7800 for awhile, here is my opinion. Graphics= The graphics on the 7800 are somewhat better than the 5200. Though it seems a lot of games just weren't programed right to take advantage of the 7800's power. Winner goes to the 7800 over a slight margin Sounds= The 7800 (like what everone says) has poor sound compared to the 5200. The games sound just like the 2600 and really takes away the feeling of the game. I dont have a 7800 cart with the POKEY chip in it, so I dont know how it would sound. Winner is 5200 (though the few carts with the POKEY chip would make the game much better than the 5200) Gameplay= Is it just me, or did somebody at Atari smoking crack when they came up with Donkey Kong? Some of the common games are pretty poor for the 7800. Ms Pacman for the 7800 is WORSE than the 5200. I only found a few games that I like. The 5200 Games are pretty fun and I always enjoyed the 5200 more than the 7800. Winner is 5200 due to a better library of enjoyable games Controllers= Since I only have the pro lines, I cant really compare the 5200 joystick to the Joypad for the 7800. But the 7800 Joystick are really annoying and feel weird in my hands. The joystick itself feels wrong in some way. It doesnt seem to have much travel in it like a arcade stick. I found myself hating the 7800 joystick more than the 5200. Winner is the 5200 over a slight margin. Overall: The 7800 has a lot of power, but the games really dont take advantage of the power. The sound is poor for most games compared to the 5200's POKEY chip. The some of the common games for the 7800 are pretty lame and boring. The 7800 controllers to me feel worse than the 5200's analong stick. And of course this is my opinion. Its not written in stone. I Dont want to bash on the 7800. For some people with the right games feel this is the better system. 7800 is still more Powerful than the 5200, but thanks to Jack Tramiel, the system just wasnt given the right treatment.
  14. I got 5 commons if you need them. I have an extra rebuilt controller as well.
  15. My top 10 (in no particular order): 1) Spacewars (Vectrex) 2) Pacman (5200) 3) HERO (5200) 4) Pole Position (5200) 5) Demon Attack (INTV) 6) Dragon Fire (INTV) 7) Burgertime (INTV) 8 ) Berzerk (Vectrex) 9) Choplifter (5200) 10) Zaxxon (5200)
  16. You know, I emailed 4 jays about 2 days ago and they said they will have more in September 1st ?????????
  17. If you like a platform games like mario, I would get Rayman 3. I spent hours and hours on it and it always kept me comming back for more.
  18. The magnavox odyssey2 isnt worth a "whole" lot. I sold a lot of 7 CIB games for 5 bucks a few months ago. I think the machine CIB is worth about $50.
  19. I would have bought this off of your hands, but you requested paypal only. I dont have paypal, so I cant get it.
  20. Nice find! The wico cables are hard to find. I had an extra one at one time, but I sold that off to someone who needed it for theirs. I think I remember Icecold saying he could make adapters to use them. Not sure though.
  21. I'd bet that too But for me the tactility of the media and the warmth of analog sound is just so much better than anything thats been digitized/steralized. I agree. Listining to Led Zeppelin on Vinyl is so much better than CD. The sound is richer and fuller. I run my MCS 6500 Turntable through a MCS 300 watt amplifier, MCS equilizer, and MCS 3 way speakers (ceramic tweeter, soft dome midrange, 15" woofer) with built in crossovers. You aint heard the power of this bi**h
  22. I like the 5200. Its just an overall "bang for your buck" system. The games are pretty cheap and have good gameplay. The joysticks have problems, but I seem to get past those (rebuild kits are available and last much longer than the stock hardware). The VCS adapter works well for me. I though about getting a 7800. But the 5200 just appeals to me more. I have a 2600 and the VCS adapter, so why would I need it? That HUGE black and silver console looks like it has power.
  23. Out of all the systems I own, I think the worst is the Intellivision. The disc gets aggrevating when playing Burger time and mine quit working periodically and requier cleaning. The 5200 sticks that I have are OEM pieces and not one has quit yet. They are stock REV 9 and play great with most of the 5200 library. The 2600 joysticks are stiff but works excellent. I have the Wico version which is much better. The Jag controller, allong with the SNES, are just plain great controllers. The vectrex controller is good too, but I dont like how the 4 buttons are spaced out.
  24. The vectrex is the coolest for me. I was impressed with the sound and fun that it has. But they are expensive. A working unit is from 80-100 dollars from what I have seen. The games with overlays are 20-30. Sean Kelly still sells the Vectrex mulitcart for 70 I believe.
  25. I bought the FoN from him monday. Once I get it, Ill have 10 games with overlays. I still need overlays for spike, berzerk and minestorm Im planning on getting sean's Multicart later. I just like to have the overlays.
