Reading over his last post I was actually agreeing with him, just not using the same words I am always prepared for the repurcussions of my statements and I love a tech debate/argument/slanging match (at work we argue with the Windows bods about the superiority of UNIX, then when they give up (0.05 seconds later ) we debate pros and cons on Linux, BSD, Solaris etc ) Just because someone knows their stuff doesn't mean they are never wrong too

Why not document the modding of a joystick, and put it up on a website, that way people can do the mods themselves if they wish. And it's no extra work for yourself!

I got to the 2nd level of difficulty and completed a few missions Could even land the thing without totalling it

Did anyone actually read all the manual that came with Falcon? I did like the way that on the easiest skill level you could park your plane inside the 'pyramids'

it's not really heated. And asking the author is just too damn logical. If we had 100% accurate answers it would be no fun

again.. I said emulaTOR not emulaTION. I am refering to the emulator software NOT what it is running. I am meaning the Direct X functions it is using... NOT the object processor it is emulating.
-
you missed my point completely. I am saying the FPS readout is not related to the game, or code that the emulator is running, but rather a speed indication of the emulator itself. NOT the game running under it. The fps reading is not tied to the monitor frequency but the speed that the emulator itself is putting out frames. The emu could say run a game at a perfect 30 FPS, but report 57 FPS as this is the speed it is running at itself, hence absolutely NO relation to the game that is running. So the fps would simply be a count of how often it is updating it's window per second. What it displays in that window may not have changed but the window has still been refreshed.

Infestation FPS/adventure from Psygnosis
LinkoVitch replied to Gunstar's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
cool. glad to be of help.. suprised a Medway boys crack didn't work, they were pretty good... er... I was told... -
I think the frame rate is the frame rate that PT is running at. How fast it is emulating etc. The game has little bearing on it, other than if the game is pretty intense it slows down the emulator and you get a poo frame rate (of the emulator). sounds like it makes sence to me

Back on the topic of the stick mods.. Instead of modding the actual sticks (ahving people send em off etc). How about a unit that attaches to the underside or whereever of the stick and performs the vibration tasks. Would require another cable to run alongside the normal stick cable.. and piggy back.. possibly incorporate an extension in there too? Sounds like a plan. Would it be possible to use the original LED flashing stuff for the vibration? therefor meaning that combat and possibly one or two others would have it already without need for modding? (you would have to re-write your game I'd guess).

Infestation FPS/adventure from Psygnosis
LinkoVitch replied to Gunstar's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
i have had a thought.. is the version you are playing, an original or a copy? perhaps if it is a copy perhaps the massive radiation dose you are getting is part of the copy protection? ie it knows it's a copy so lets you get 5 minutes worth of fun and then kills you off.. I think pompey pirates menu #29 has a working version -
Bloody hell.. version 0.15 is out... I think best bet would be to get my computer automatically download new versions as they are released.. only problem.. is 1Mb sufficient to keep up with the author?

Infestation FPS/adventure from Psygnosis
LinkoVitch replied to Gunstar's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I just aquired a copy of this and fired it up on STeem. I was wandering around for a good few minutes until I stepped on an egg how long time wise do you last? you sure you arn't running out of oxygen ? -
Anyone here fooled around inside a TV Boy?
LinkoVitch replied to Cassidy Nolen's topic in Atari 2600
When you add the cart slot, why not get the TV boy to disconnect the onbord blob and soley access the cart port, if there is no cart it uses the onboard blob.. Bit like the 7800 with inbuilt games. -
Infestation FPS/adventure from Psygnosis

maybe the lack of responce means it did work and he is currently busy crawling through ducts etc -
Hiya, I saw a post someone on here stating that it was easy to set the universal header for 8 bit games or 16 for that matter. Does anyone have such versions of the header? or instructions on how to modify the 32 bit header? Your help much appreciated

I think it's very difficult to make out, but I would have thought Japanese, as the characters look a lot more fluid, and if I rember correctly Chinese tends to look a bit more angular than Japanese? probs completely wrong, but as I don't plan on ever trying to read it (other than perhaps to translate the pictures I have in my front room, which probably say "HA stupid westerners will by any old crap" )
-
It's Chinese. If it were Japanese, there would be katakana and/or hiragana mixed in with the kanji. It was most likely made in Taiwan, not Japan. (PS - and anyway, why would I believe you when you can't even spell "Japanese" and "Chinese" correctly?) Probably for the same reason that you overlooked the mention of the "Giant blinking red LED" for disposing of enemies?

Any pictures? be kinda interesting, especially if you could get the tag, and then the score.. You now have a mission.. should you choose to accept it

Infestation FPS/adventure from Psygnosis
LinkoVitch replied to Gunstar's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I forgot all about that game. Cheers for reminding me Armageddon is another good one of theirs.. I'll never forget enticing my mate to come out (on link up) to meet me at my tank (so we could checkout each other on our screens.. in the old days of linkup all this was new).. I got bored and dropped the neutron bomb.. ran away and it went off just as he got there.. made a right mess of his tank was very funny tho Must dig out Infestation and get that completed tho -
for the interim I spose you could always just drop the T2K Audio CD in your CD-ROM and get that playing whilst you play It would be cool if you could do a jag link emulation over a TCP/IP stream, so link to players all over the world etc

Infogrames Taking Credit For Atari Arcade Classics!!
LinkoVitch replied to Gregory DG's topic in Arcade and Pinball
That is really annoying.. A quick web search (I mean VERY quick one).. Infogrames website, click on history.. "Infogrames was founded in 1983" Hmm yet they release games before they were founded? odd that.. Bugs the crap outta me. Be nice to win wads of cash (maybee mug Bill Gates ) and buy the name, and hold it until you could do something noble with it... Call forth the warriors of Atari! It is time we seek out our Grail! -
Plug the joystick into the rightmost port (I think it's port 2). the left most port is for the mouse and treats controllers in that as being a secondary controler. You can move the mouse in GEM desktop by holding down the ALT key and using the cursors, but turn down the volume unless you like a ringing sound

I have web space coming out of my ears, would people be interested in me putting roms up there for you to grab? AA could link to them also. It's no skin off my nose I get the space for free This emu looks excellent, certainly should help with the development stuff.
-
Well it already does 3D, Tempest 2000 runs on it. although it did seem a little slow , I guess Battle sphere would go slower? (never played so couldn't say). if BS roms do appear it shouldn't lessen the value of the carts. I would still rather have the cart than a ROM image.
