What Neo said. IIRC you won't see anything on USB if it doesn't boot on the Jag, it gets its power from the jag not the PC so you won't see any draw over that cable. Check usb once you get the green screen.

He does try and bait responses from people, he has done it to me a few times. Mostly I have been able to ignore them, but occasionally he gets under your skin and your respond, he clearly then revels in your response, it means he got you to do or say something and he gets some attention. He was posting crap about me and it got to me, so I released a demo to prove his incompetent lying face wrong, of course he didn't acknowledge the proof, just ignored the part of his previous claim I had just disproved and doubled down on other lies! As the old expression goes, "It's like playing chess with a pigeon, all it's going to do is knock the pieces over, strut around like it's won and shit on the board" (or words to that effect). If you do post anything in reaction to something he says make sure you are prepared for him to twist it and make it about him.

No, on the TV, Jaguar has no control panel. How are you connecting it to the TV? same cable as one of your other jags that work fine? RF/SCART/Composite/S-Video ? Official cable or home made?

Is the colour of the LED Red perhaps? If so you have an NTSC Jaguar which will output at 60Hz. Some older TVs either cannot support this frequency or require manual adjustment. Even if your LED is Green and the TV is of a suitable age it may need some adjustment. Look in the control panel area for a Vertical Hold (or V-Hold), used to be a small knob, might even be on the back as a pot you can access with a plastic screwdriver etc. If you have one of these try turning it slowly left or right, one way will make the screen roll faster, the other should slow it and eventually stop it (unless you go too far then it will roll in the opposite direction Red Screen is the cart is failing to pass the Encryption check. This can be caused by bad contacts (most common), bad cart or damaged slot. I assume it's the pack in Cybermorph cart? Might be worth giving the cart edge a clean with Iso alcohol, could be years of storage has resulted in some tarnish on that or the cart slot connectors. Hope that is of some help, good luck

Just to be clear, I never said you were a mouthpiece for him, I said you were talking to him as I left the event to get food. As I passed I tapped you on the shoulder or waved (not 100% sure) and said hi to you as hadn't seen you for a number of years. You can probably speak as to the accuracy of the following in Kieren's statement: as you were stood talking to him at the time I left the building for food. You can probably recall how it was in fact just yourself and him talking and I walked past with my fiancee and kids, and there was in fact not a huge group of people, me bumping into Kieren, or any laughter/fleeing involved. Historically Kieren has been quite amenable in person, obviously as a coward he isn't going to actually say anything to people face to face, online however is where he stirs his lies and nastiness. I doubt anyone at a scene party would have had any issue, and a lot of it would probably be way above his head.

His claims of having his Twitter account deactivated but these sock puppets were active so couldn't have been me.. is also laughable. Deactivating one account on Twitter doesn't wipe out other.. unlike it would seem youtube, where when the primary account gets nuked, they remove all the sub accounts, as demonstrated by all the YT sock puppet accounts vanishing. In addition having multiple accounts for different interests and purposes is entirely valid. Having accounts to pretend to be other people and either falsely agree with your primary account or attack others with would be sock puppets and not ok. Obvious, well understood things, completely misunderstood by Kieren. It is as though he has seen other people doing something, doesn't fully understand what it is or how it works and then just copies them.

There are so many errors in that whole thing. If anyone reading it thinks "hmm well, I guess that sounds plausible" I can tell you as a person named in there and actually being at Play Expo, that what he says is 100% utter rubbish. Yes I did pass him, no I didn't call him a "dickhead" I called him a "Wanker" as he walked past eyes firmly fixed forward, suddenly losing any need to use a cane. Also interesting that as he turned into the aisle I was walking down he recognised me, had the look in his eyes that clearly read as "Oh shit!" and visibly altered his path to as far to the side of the aisle as possible, from probably 50ft away, very obviously As for running out the door.. HA! I (and my fiancee and both kids) were on our way out for food and going out to get eats. I recognised Felice, and as I got closer saw Kieren was stopped talking to him (looking a little shell shocked), I tapped Felice on the shoulder and said "Hi" as we walked past.. why didn't I stop and pull Kieren up on his bullshit lies? Well a couple of things, I don't drag my kids and family into things, I certainly don't shield my actions with them, and we were hungry, and frankly Kieren, you're not worth the wasted breath. As for sending a Friend request, where did I say that was on twitter you idiot? You argue like an idiot child, any person with half a brain knows exactly what I meant, and that you sent her a friend request on Facebook, I know you did, she knows you did, and you know you did; of course you are also a lying sack of crap so will deny that completely. Also as has been documented on this thread your pettiness knows no bounds and you are not above trying to ruin peoples lives out of jealousy and spite. Also, start of page 14, you seem to be having some sort of mind quake there, ranting mindless gibberish.. oh well never mind.

FAKE! that's clearly a render!

I just remembered another recent event, having read the latest posts on this thread an especially @StarshipUK 's it shone some light on a bizarre occurrence. Anyone who follows me on twitter may have seen the odd occasion where I have snapped at Kieren for spouting lies and rubbish, I know I shouldn't poke a troll but I simply find it incredibly difficult to handle liars, and seeing good people suckered in with lies annoys me greatly. I cannot remember what it was this time that I had pulled him up on, but part way through our Twitter exchange I was called over to my partner, she had just received a friend invite from non-other than KH himself! Now she is a very private person, has NO interaction or interest in retro games (beyond hogging Puzzle Bobble machines if she finds one ) her online world is a very different group of people with absolutely no overlap with the retro community. So why the hell, would KH want to be friends with her? especially just after I had pulled him up on Twitter again, I've not been "friends" with him probably since 2008. After reading Starship's story however I now believe his intention was to try and sour the relationship between myself and my partner! All because I called him out for lies! (I did post on Twitter and specifically asked him to leave families out of this). Utter scumbag

Other than having a very low tolerance for liars myself, he has spread lies about myself and my work. I am proud of my Sound Engine, have released it for free and provide support to people using it. Of course this doesn't stop Kieren trying to damage my credibility with a lie. Whilst the original lie is started by Jeff from Stormworks that has been written in one place, Kieren has taken it upon himself to repeat it time and again should he ever want to try and bring my name down. He has been told it is rubbish many times but still adheres to it as he has no interest in the truth only smearing the character of people who have called him out for his rubbish. He even once decided to prove this lie as fact by releasing a zip file of Roberts sound demos with source (the zip had _s at the end of the name).. the file contained no source code, just the binary releases that Robert had made. His attempts at his own lies are half arsed and don't hold up to the slightest scrutiny. I even have email threads with him going from when I first met him in person at Jagfest UK 2006 (our paths had crossed earlier but hadn't actually ever spoken to him). I organised the whole 2006 event, yet a few years later whilst padding his CV Kieren was openly claiming he helped organise 2006, when I pulled him up on this his response was that as he attended the event, that counted. This is his standard approach to all things, if he has the slightest of involvement, even just in passing, he will claim to have been a key member.

The save EEPROM is connected via pins on the cart connector just like the game ROMs, so it is entirely possible for it to not get a good enough connection to work. It isn't included in the initial boot checks.

They may make a single click at the start on occasion. If the sensors wire breaks it will be unusable and just make a horrible grinding noise and eventually wear out the gears/motor.
-
Rather than remove the sled motor I'd suggest an alternative is to remove the whole laser transport from the rubber vibration mounts, this gives you easy access to the edge of the leaf contacts (if you just need to reconnect the wire). My (now) rather ancient guide
-
Closest you would get to one of those would be a stock Jaguar covered in dust with dev card attached. Unless you mean the original STUB ROM jags? which were regular jags with the Atari STUB ROM instead of regular BIOS for use with the Alpine development board?

It's been a LONG time since I looked, but IIRC the Scaled objects have a bug.. sorry, feature Which is the random extra scan line you see. I *think* the solution to this is to add a blank line to the bottom of your source object. Sorry I cannot help with the remainder calcs, I haven't looked into those yet

If you don't init the mod does the FX work as expected? Just looked at the source and u235se+6 isn't correct for modinit. modinit would be u235se+0 that however will always start with position 0, you need to get to U235SE_modinitpos, which unfortunately I haven't setup a branch to! doh! Dirty hack for now if you modify the bra.s at the head of the binary blob to jump 1 word further it will go to modinitpos instead. The code in the bin is: start: moveq #0,d0 ; If modinit has been called the default song position will be 0 modinitpos:: U235SE_modinitpos:: movem.l d0-d7/a0-a6, -(sp) ; If we were called by modinitpos then d0 should hold the desired position to start playing the song from and.l #$ff,d0 start is the label where the modinit call normally jumps to, if you modify that bra.s to jump to the movem.l after it, it will be hitting modinitpos and d0 will behave as you want. I'll add this bug to the todo list for my next release. Sorry for the cockup

What happens?

Which version are you using? The latest version made some changes to how things are setup. There is included demo code for both the relocatable binary blob and also the static object versions. These both init a mod and start it. 1) Yes, stopping a module call just sets a flag to say to stop the module. 2) usually the 68K won't be fast enough to have an issue to init a new mod right after a stop. I have never added any waits in myself, but I have also never tried stopping and then starting a new mod immediately afterwards. If you are not already I would recommend grabbing the latest version of the engine and using that. There were various improvements in playback quality, performance and also stopping and starting modules. HTH

TBH I suspect that slapping SRAM in a cart whilst it would be faster than a ROM cart isn't suddenly going to boost the performance of the Jag to unheard of levels. IIRC, there is ONE bus, Main RAM, the BIOS, Cartridge and all the hardware sits on it.. so no clever cart ROM -> Main RAM dual bus copy action. The cart bus is 32bit, so already 50% of the max throughput of Tom. I think SainTs cart, whilst a thing of beauty and really useful, isn't designed or intended as use as a system accelerator... Huge extra capacity, and possibly slightly faster loading time for some cart games, and maybe even some extra new shiny dev toys down the line.. But its not going to turn the jag into something it's not.

GGN: If you are not using Hyper-V under Windows 10, I'd recommend grabbing VMWare Player (VMWare Desktop Free, or whatever it's called this week), and use that to spin up a Linux VM.. I use it myself for $dayjob and some Jagdev funs, works really well and you can always have a VM for a specific task. It's free to use as long as not commercial use. Might be easier than fighting whatever abomination MS has fused into Win10

Disagree on point 2.. Amiga was born as a home computer, it was developed and used for video editing IIRC (hence its use for titles and stuff in the era for TV and film). It was actually presented to Atari before Commodore but Atari already had the ST in the pipeline and turned it down. It's architecture that allowed it to work well for Video also meant it had some better in roads for games. Other than actual games consoles I don't think ANY manufacturer sets out to build a "computer" as a games console, they build a machine and then get it in as many markets as they can to make money, obviously the Amiga was excellent for games so a lot were made for it and that would have no doubt lead to more advertising pushing it as a computer for use at home and playing games. There is a whole branch of machines Commodore built in the Amiga line that were targeted at business, much like the MegaST and TT ranges from Atari were not aimed at the home market. You can get games for the PC back in the day, doesn't make the PC a Games console.
