  1. So this weekend someone unloaded a massive collection to a thrift shop. Among the 40 or so boxed NES and SNES games, these were my choices for $25.

Later on the way back home I stopped at a garage sale and after talking to a guy about old games he showed me the most ****ed up NES I have ever seen, 2 NES Max controllers, a Zapper and 10 games and he said $5 for all of it. I got the NES working and almost 90% complete except the missing door. Here's a before and after.

Does the NES work completely without blinking? Congrats.

Everyone out there who has gotten a pristine NES only to have it blink.... raise your hand

Cybercylon raises his hand, once... twice...

    Works 100% perfect.

  3. :D This was the first time I'd actually watched "sumguy" with my own eyes. I've had a couple of times where I was told they had an atari or something like that and sold it half an hour ago but this was the first time I'd seen "sumguy" and the fact that it was this frail little old lady floored me. Why wasn't she buying some old cracked china or wicker crap instead of my games?

    Wouldn't that be Sumgal?

It was probably just crap you already had; Combat, Pac-Man, Space Invaders and so on. A boxed Vic-20 for basically $5 ($10/2?) was probably a better deal anyway if it's working and nice. They're getting way harder to find than 2600's are. Still, so sorry for your loss! :(

Thanks for your support. :) The vic 20 works ok, just seems to take a few seconds after hitting the power switch for the unit to turn on, like a really old radio or something. Weird.

Anyway I walked away with 2 SNES games for $5 today. Super Mario All-stars and Castlevania IV

  4. Non-video game score on Craigslist tonight. Picked up both the Star Trek Deep Space 9 and Star Trek Voyager complete series sets on DVD for $100 each. Not bad when you figure they are still over $300 each normally. Great shape too, the Voyager set even had the Best Buy bonus discs with it. icon_mrgreen.gif

Now I just have to pick up Enterprise and I'll have all the Trek ever made! (And, no, I don't count the Abrams movie.) At this point I'll wait for Enterprise on Bluray though.

Just think. In 5 years, all those Star Trek episodes will come out on one Blu-Ray.

Nah, there's a lot of reasons that won't happen so I'm not worried about it.

It might happen with TNG and TOS. They were both shot in widescreen iirc.

  6. One of the yard sales we hit this afternoon had a single VCS game: a boxed Riddle of the Sphinx for $1.00, with Imagic warranty card and catalog but no manual. Apparently they'd had a bunch more, but someone -- possibly the infamous Some Guy -- came through that morning and bought all their other games, save that one. The ROTS is in nice shape, and if the other games looked that good, someone got a great deal. Was it an Atariage member from Long Island? (STICH666, maybe it was you?)

I also got a Model I Genny with two controllers, AV and power cables, plus 6 CIB commons for $12. I think I'll be giving most of that to my little brother. There was another yard sale with loads of PS2 games for $2 each, and a PS2 for $20, which I passed up...it's a good deal, but right now I've got too many systems as it is.

Who knows what else I missed out on. I would've been out earlier, since I knew it'd be a great day for yard sales, but I have to work on Saturday mornings. I have a feeling Some Guy made out really well today! :D

Nah man. Had no gas to gout anywhere west of Bayshore. Plus I'm retired from being Someguy this season. Giving someone else a break. Oh which town are you in BTW?
