  1. I'd disagree w/ this statement (unless you're talking about the mainstream's acceptance of the internet thanks to hi-speed). But the internet is the internet, regardless of your connection to it. Think WebTV. Mid-Late 90's were a great time for online gaming and surfing in general (much better experience than it is today, even with "hi-speed"). Saturn was even well setup for it. I logged countless hours playing Duke Nuke'm on that thing - dial up of course. No, Sega was on the ball with those concepts for sure before they handed all of their great ideas over to Micro$soft for play by Joe Sixpack and XBox. I saw one of these boxes in a thrift shop and I still don't know what it is. Can you explain a little.
  2. Dreamcast. I mean WTF. Great library, powerful enough to compete with it's rivals and an awesome controller. All that thrown away because some dipshits wanted a DVD player.
  3. Yeah if it's the proprietary cord then you can just open the O2 up and swap it out with any old mono RCA cable.
  4. I have the TVG 101-4 in one of those pictures. Too bad he didn't review it.
  5. That's a sweet power center!! It looks like it could be an official NES product.
  6. The Sega CD is very nice and has a good library of games. Also it is one of the few addons that actually suits the console where it should have always looked like that. It doesn't deserve any bad press what so ever. I've never had any time with the 32X. It can say that it could benefit being shorter. It just looks like crap on any model Genesis. IMO!!
  7. As with almost all my finds, this starts off with a small story. I went to the not so local thrift shop and was looking around. I was talking to myself saying "why don't they ever have any Atari stuff when this nice guy heard me and said that just last week he got a 2600 with a couple games for his kids but since they are little graphics whores, they got bored and he just packed it back up. He said he was going to give it to the church but he's rather give it to someone who could use it. I met up with him back at his house and in the lot was a mint Vader 2600, 3 controllers, all original hookups, and 8 boxed games. Ms. Pac-Man, Q-Bert, Tutankhamen, E.T., Grand Prix, Carnival, Space Attack, Phoenix. So I drive off with a complete working Vader and 8 boxed games.....until I blew a right rear tire and happened to hit a curb in the middle of nowhere. Now my axel is bent and my door is smashed in.
  8. I tried Road Rash and was highly disappointed that it wouldn't do anything.
  9. I do to close friends. I always get them back in the same condition.
  10. PS2 Twisted Metal Black 2 Gran Turismo 2000 (no not the same as GT3) Xbox IndyCar Series 2006 Malice Mafia II PC Nascar Racing Season 2004 (great game series made by Papyrus that even today is still the most realistic Nascar game ever made. (seriously fuck you EA for completely destroying the Nascar gaming license)
  11. You can use Model 2 Genesis PSUs for future reference.
  12. This must be some kind of a record. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 140384097750
  13. The 2600 and ColecoVision controllers being so damn short.
  14. That looks like a direct port of the first Sonic Advanced game except with framerate issues.
  15. Sol Divide is not the sequel to Sol Feace. It's a fighter/shmup combo designed by Psyiko (and their developers had nothing to do with Sol Feace) and is generally poorly received. The Saturn one is Japan exclusive, but the PSX port got a US release. It was one of XS Games budget releases with removed cutscenes, though. Here are some Saturn import games I recommend: Vampire Savior (if you have the Action Reply with the 4m built in. A 2D fighter, known as Darkstalkers 3 on the US PSX (but this version has extra frames of animation), but one of the best on the system and makes good use of the extra memory for some slick graphics and gameplay. Last I checked, it's fairly cheap to get a hold of too) Batsugun (excellent shmup from Toaplan and often referred to as proto cave. Has both the original and a special version with extra bullets and other remixed stuff) Parodius Deluxe Pack (includes two great shmups, Parodius Da!! and Gokujo Parodius. Worth it for Gokujo alone) Gradius Deluxe Pack (includes the arcade versions of Gradius 1 and 2. Good stuff) I also heard good things about the SEGA Ages packs with games like Space Harrier, Outrun, Fantasy Zone, and After Burner II available, though a few of those are available elsewhere, as well. There are the SEGA Ages Memorial packs with older SEGA games. The first one has Flicky, Head On (original game Dodge 'em on the 2600 is based on), Up 'n Down, and Pengo and the second one has SEGA Samurai (70s arcade game), Ninja Princess (also known as SEGA Ninja. Game The Ninja for SMS is based on), Star Jacker (80s shmup), Penguin Land SG-1000, and Monaco GP. As far as games that can be played with no knowledge of Japanese, shmups, arcade games, fighting games, action games (aside from a few with RPG elements), and most puzzle games (stay away from word based ones, though) are generally safe. RPGs and strategy games usually require more Japanese knowledge and it's best to avoid visual novels, quiz games, etc. since these are pretty much unplayable without knowledge of Japanese. Most of those RPGs have a heavy amount of Japanese text. Policenauts requires knowledge of Japanese to play. Wow was I off. I think I was thinking of Sylpheed on the PS2 being a sequel to the one on the Sega CD.
  16. LOL I was like "Wait. Farmingville, that's really close. What the hell?" Then I realized you were also from Long Island.
  17. That was great. Just curious does he have downs syndrome or just a really bad speech impediment?
  18. The Xbox is a stripped down computer but not the 360. Really all I can think of that was even remotely successful was the Odyssey 2.
  19. If I can add one, Sol Divide is a great one. It's the sequel of Sol Feace on the Sega CD. It also happens to be Japan exclusive.
