Yeah if it's the proprietary cord then you can just open the O2 up and swap it out with any old mono RCA cable.

I have the TVG 101-4 in one of those pictures. Too bad he didn't review it.

I'd not do what SEGA did with the Genesis and spam addons.

I visited a thrift on the way to the folks' place that I rarely ever visit, and it turned up these gems:
NES Castlevania: $5
Another power center I can use in my rig: $2
Abalone (complete): $2.50
That's a sweet power center!! It looks like it could be an official NES product.

As a collectible, I think the Sega with all the ad-ons tells an interesting story. The Genny One with the CD underneath and a 32x on top (with three power bricks) just exudes "afterthought engineering". Then you can have a Genny Two with the CD II, another Genny One with a Power Base Converter, and of course, the CDX. I remember seeing all these different models in the display case at Toys R Us and being totally confused about where Sega was trying to take things.
32x games are often low priced at thrifts and game stores since most shoppers are looking for Genesis games and pass them by. Also note that the 32x carts don't fit in cassette holders, and the boxes they came in are cardboard and don't hold up very well, unlike most of the Genesis games which came in those sturdy plastic cases. Sega CD games can be burned on your computer if you have the images.
And so were the investors.....

The Sega CD is very nice and has a good library of games. Also it is one of the few addons that actually suits the console where it should have always looked like that. It doesn't deserve any bad press what so ever.
I've never had any time with the 32X. It can say that it could benefit being shorter. It just looks like crap on any model Genesis. IMO!!

As with almost all my finds, this starts off with a small story. I went to the not so local thrift shop and was looking around. I was talking to myself saying "why don't they ever have any Atari stuff when this nice guy heard me and said that just last week he got a 2600 with a couple games for his kids but since they are little graphics whores, they got bored and he just packed it back up. He said he was going to give it to the church but he's rather give it to someone who could use it. I met up with him back at his house and in the lot was a mint Vader 2600, 3 controllers, all original hookups, and 8 boxed games. Ms. Pac-Man, Q-Bert, Tutankhamen, E.T., Grand Prix, Carnival, Space Attack, Phoenix. So I drive off with a complete working Vader and 8 boxed games.....until I blew a right rear tire and happened to hit a curb in the middle of nowhere. Now my axel is bent and my door is smashed in.

I tried Road Rash and was highly disappointed that it wouldn't do anything.

A couple days ago I wrote about picking up two non-working PS2 slim consoles for $7.50. Some of you guys had some good advice on what goes wrong in these things, and I took one apart to start monkeying with it. Then I discovered that the PSU I'd tested it with (and was included in the bundle) was actually for a PSP. No wonder it didn't work!
So I hit Gamesopt hoping to find one used, but no dice. They wanted $20 for a new one. I knew I could probably get one on Ebay for around $10, so I thought maybe that would be the deal. On a whim I zapped over to Best Buy, and they had two 3rd party PSU's marked down to $5 each! When I get 'em home, I found that both my slims work. So for under $20 total I've got 2 working PS2 slims, 2 dual shock 2's, AC adapters, a not-so-useful PSP AC adapter) and a copy of Call of Duty 3 and a DVD of High School Musical that was in each one. Except for the DVD, I think that I made out.

You can use Model 2 Genesis PSUs for future reference.

The 2600 and ColecoVision controllers being so damn short.

That looks like a direct port of the first Sonic Advanced game except with framerate issues.

If I can add one, Sol Divide is a great one. It's the sequel of Sol Feace on the Sega CD. It also happens to be Japan exclusive.
Sol Divide is not the sequel to Sol Feace. It's a fighter/shmup combo designed by Psyiko (and their developers had nothing to do with Sol Feace) and is generally poorly received. The Saturn one is Japan exclusive, but the PSX port got a US release. It was one of XS Games budget releases with removed cutscenes, though.
Here are some Saturn import games I recommend:
Vampire Savior (if you have the Action Reply with the 4m built in. A 2D fighter, known as Darkstalkers 3 on the US PSX (but this version has extra frames of animation), but one of the best on the system and makes good use of the extra memory for some slick graphics and gameplay. Last I checked, it's fairly cheap to get a hold of too)
Batsugun (excellent shmup from Toaplan and often referred to as proto cave. Has both the original and a special version with extra bullets and other remixed stuff)
Parodius Deluxe Pack (includes two great shmups, Parodius Da!! and Gokujo Parodius. Worth it for Gokujo alone)
Gradius Deluxe Pack (includes the arcade versions of Gradius 1 and 2. Good stuff)
I also heard good things about the SEGA Ages packs with games like Space Harrier, Outrun, Fantasy Zone, and After Burner II available, though a few of those are available elsewhere, as well. There are the SEGA Ages Memorial packs with older SEGA games. The first one has Flicky, Head On (original game Dodge 'em on the 2600 is based on), Up 'n Down, and Pengo and the second one has SEGA Samurai (70s arcade game), Ninja Princess (also known as SEGA Ninja. Game The Ninja for SMS is based on), Star Jacker (80s shmup), Penguin Land SG-1000, and Monaco GP.
As far as games that can be played with no knowledge of Japanese, shmups, arcade games, fighting games, action games (aside from a few with RPG elements), and most puzzle games (stay away from word based ones, though) are generally safe. RPGs and strategy games usually require more Japanese knowledge and it's best to avoid visual novels, quiz games, etc. since these are pretty much unplayable without knowledge of Japanese.
As far as RPG imports, there's literally a king's bounty of them. Apparently Sega of America, in their infinite wisdom, didn't think RPG's would sell in the US, and some really great RPGs never saw a US release. There's an article on this I read somewhere before, lemme see if I can find it for you. Also, Policenauts is a good import title. Most of those RPGs have a heavy amount of Japanese text. Policenauts requires knowledge of Japanese to play.
Wow was I off. I think I was thinking of Sylpheed on the PS2 being a sequel to the one on the Sega CD.

LOL I was like "Wait. Farmingville, that's really close. What the hell?" Then I realized you were also from Long Island.

That was great. Just curious does he have downs syndrome or just a really bad speech impediment?

The Xbox is a stripped down computer but not the 360. Really all I can think of that was even remotely successful was the Odyssey 2.

I agree with the Japanese SHMUPS. There's not really one I would recommend seeing as there are VERY few bad SHMUPS to begin with. However IMO the Turbografx/PC Engine have the best SHMUP lineup so if you have one and you are fortunate enough to have the CD addon, go with that. And as for RPGS, there's no shortage of that on the Saturn. Well at least not in Japan. Thanks Bernie
2D games are sooo last gen pfft. -
Wow what's with the Italian stab on a topic like story telling? That's not even a base for an Italian joke. It's not like you said you were hairy or loud or anything
. I'm Italian BTW.

First, here's one where some guy hopes that some poor uninformed sap will hand him over a 10k game for pennies. It's Stadium Events mania.
http://asheville.cra...1604755949.html
Here's a "too good to be true" add. I envision one or two scenarios. #1 you go to meet the "seller" to pick up your bargains but instead have a gang of hoodlums beat you senseless, take you wallet and car and leave you for dead. #2 Some idiot has a truckload of stolen goods that he's selling out of and you arrive just shortly before the police do, just so you can be implicated as well. (I know it's not "classic gaming" per say but didn't feel like make a separate post.)
I sent him an email:
Hello, I have a copy of "Stadium Events" that mom bought me for Christmas but she had passed away before she could give it to me. I had recently found it in her attic. Are you interested in buying it?
Kenny Temprano
response:
so for over 20 years she forgot to give to you, your a fuckin idiot, nice try
Reply, "No. She passed away when I was 12 and my father was left to raise me. He recently passed and while cleaning out the attic, I found it still sealed."

I emailed him about the 360 and asked if he will ship if I pay extra. If he says no then my suspicion meter will go in the red.

All the Gamestops by me actually have managers who are gamers (most opened Play-n-Trades) so they don't stick the prices on the paper covers. They leave a piece of the wax paper on the sticker so it never actually makes any contact.
