  1. 20's and 30's - Radio was evil

40's and 50's - Comic Books and TV were evil

60's and 70's - Rock music was evil

    80's - Now - Videogames are evil.

Will this shit ever stop? It's apparent that in the last 80 years, nothing in pop culture has brought down decent society. STFU conservative extremists.

Most decent people in the 1950s wouldn't say sh*t if they had a mouthful. I'm not a conservative extremist, but you'd have to be a fool not to see how entertainment has been used to erode our values over time.

It's not the entertainment. It's the rather stable economy for the past 60 years that really has spoiled everyone. During and shortly after the depression, people started to appreciate what they have and stopped lusting over what they couldn't have. Now people just want more, more, more and just ignore the fact that that they have family that they don't spend time with.

  2. The only sealed game I ever opened was Seaman.

bet you regret doing that *lol*

yes, boredom can be narrated by leonard nemoy

Actually nah. I bought that game to play it. It wasn't shrink wrapped and the box was a little beat up anyway. It had a sticker seal. Here's a pic.

You can see where someone decided to do their math homework.

  3. Last year I went to a garage sale and asked this guy if he had any video games. He said no he didn't have PlayStation and Nintendo. I told him I was a retro gamer and he said "ya know what hold on a second". He went into the house and 5 minutes later he came down with this. He told me to make him an offer. I said $20.

    :-o

    You.....are.....a......GOD!

Was perusing the thread and see that free shit counts too.

Not going to believe this. My tenant just put a flat-panel in her two bedrooms. So she gave me and my aunt TWO flat-screen TV's(the ones with the flat screen but have a tube). They aren't more than two and a half years old. I kept the RCA Flat-Tube with built in DVD Player. Me and the girlfriend can FINALLY play Xbox without having to worry about using our VCR for inputs.

Can't believe that this woman was ACTUALLY going to throw these out!

BTW, we measured them. The RCA one is 25" and the other one(AIWA) is a 27".

I almost forgot. The RCA one DOES have AV outputs. My girlfriend decided to break it in by blasting "Outshined" on our stereo. ;)

Hahahaha I wouldn't say god but maybe awesome. lol jk. It's really the only good deal other than getting all these 2600 carts for free out of a cabinet someone was throwing out.

They also came with all the booklets.

  4. The biggest regret I ever ever had was hanging on to my extensive collection for such a long time. And building it up in the first place. I had complete docs and box and controller sets and tons of misc accessories for all the following systems.

Astrocade, atari 400/800/2600/5200/1040/520, Colecovision, Vectrex, O2, Trs-80 CoCo/pocket computer, Intellivision, Sinclair, Vic20, C64, PC, Telstar, arcadia, Adam, Amiga 500/1000, Ti-99/4a.. and many more.

I did save over 6000lbs. of Apple ][, ][+, //e, //c, //c+, ///, ///+ hardware, software, documentation, pictures, videos, ads, manuals, notes, and accessories, and 9200+ floppies, including literally every type of hardware board and software product (with manuals) that was ever made. My other games collection was similarly in-depth.

In retrospect putting this crap in the trash truck was the best thing since I had a ton of fun rebuilding the collection in a virtual style with emulation and the file archiving capabilities of NTFS - and a 500GB hard disk. Great! Freed from earthly physical constraints, my collection will last forever and can go anyplace. Eventually, sooner rather than later I will dissolve the Apple ][ series collection.

TRASH TRUCK!!!! You should have given it to me!!!

I haven't toyed around with any PAL stuff yet, but it was my understanding that you need a PAL TV for PAL equipment to work properly. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what I've heard.

As far as I know it will work but there will be some flicker since PAL is 50Hz instead of NTSC 60Hz.

  7. Don't get me started on those f*#%s at Radio Shack.

Items that I've asked for that they had in stock but didn't know WTF i was talking about when I asked for them: D-sub male/female connectors, sub mini/mini jack converter, CAT5 cable!!! (I was like, are you kidding me!? when the guy asked what that was).

Items the staff told me "didn't exist" when I asked about them: analog/digital A/V converter, RCA to coax connector.

As for the connector, it looks like maybe a BNC? I don't know for sure it that's what PAL uses, but you can look at what a BNC looks like here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BNC_connector

LOL I asked them if they had a Phono F to Coax adapter and they just said, cordless phone or wireless. I was just :| :x
