  1. I just successfully performed this upgrade: http://forums.atari.io/index.php/topic/3489-atari-600xl-upgrade-to-64k/ . I feel like a whole new world is at my disposal...

  2. Maybe, if I work hard enough, I can get passed H.E.R.O. (8-bit) level 8... I suck at this game :-(

It definitely seems to be a game that you need to practice and memorize. I have only fiddled with it a little, but quickly got that impression.

level 8 I think is where it starts getting hard, that's the stage you have to hover over the water and the cave hangs low above you? I get stuck there too.

  3. I started Sonic Forces on the Switch tonight. Levels seem really short, extremely easy, and the story is pretty shallow (even for Sonic), but it's fun...sort of like the love child of Sonic Colors and Sonic Adventure...

  4. Wahoo! 600XL on it's way. Hopefully, I can track down a multicart!

  5. I think I'm caught up on the Coleco drama. Holy wow. On a less shit-show note, DK helped reacquaint me to the 7800 tonight. I hadn't played one in at least 5 years. Getting reacquainted with these classics is making me feel grateful for what I held onto, before we moved across the country in '13. At that time, we combined households, and I sold off a good 3/4 of the collection I'd amassed over the years. I'm glad I didn't shed all of it :-)

Didya read the Pac Man suit thread? It's kinda like a post script to the whole Coleco thread. It's locked now. lol

In other "much ado about nothing" news, don't forget AtariBox! Or do forget it, you're not missing anything ... unless you like TACOS

No dice in the northern Dallas suburbs. Notice went out early this morning that all of our campuses would remain open, but suggested that everyone be mindful about changes in conditions. I actually buckled down last night and finished the work I was trying to avoid, so it's neither here nor there.

Some patchy ice in Dallas. Still took some time getting in just to be safe.

  7. Dang! It's been almost 5 years, since I was last active here. A tremendous amount of significant events have occurred since then. I feel like it will take a year to catch up! I'm particularly curious about the Coleco drama! Oye!

Lots of activity in the 7800 and Jaguar communities. New games and new hardware being released.

  8. Porky's is officially the most frustrating game I've ever played on the 2600. Design is decent, graphics are nice, hit detection is TERRIBLE. FUCK PORKY'S!

I've been thinking about this game for awhile now, maybe i should give it go.

So, I'm a fan of the E.T. game. I think it's varied, and it's a pretty neat adventure. The way people get all frustrated about the pits? I get all frustrated about...well....all of the hit-detection sensitivity of Porky's. It's not terrible. Maybe once I beat it without it going crazy, I'll like it more. Maybe I should use the CX-40s rather than CX-10s...hmm....

  9. I didn't realize beating variation 2 of Adventure for the first time could be so thrilling...

      Random Terrain

      I only play variation 3.

    2. Yurkie

      Yurkie

I have always played 3 only myself.

    3. tisaperfectdayelise

      tisaperfectdayelise

I quickly moved onto 3. I was just never an Adventure fan before. The first 3rd variation triumph still wasn't as thrilling as the second. I am digging repeated games on the 3rd, though... It may very well be my new favorite game...

  10. So, is there still a Heavy Sixer OFFICIAL LIST around? The one I knew of seems to have been replaced, but neither have been touched in awhile.

  11. I just performed my first soldering job on a console. My first run 2600 lives!

  12. thinks that loyalty is a funny word.

  13. sometimes forgets that expectations lead only to resentment.

  14. has never seen so many consecutive status messages that contain both the word 'haters' and the phrase 'suck it.' It's as though Kathy Griffin has hijacked all of my friends' accounts to comment on something called a Madge...

Yeah, it was Facebook. Sometimes, I forget that these two are linked. Sorry! :-)

  15. was nervous about attending a read-through this evening. He hasn't done a play play in nearly ten years. This should be fun :-)

      That sounds like fun!

  16. is seeing his undergrad graduation yearbook for the first time. Apparently, he wasn't much of a joiner in 2006....

  17. I hope that your day is better than yesterday!

  18. thinks that on a basic 1-10 scale, 1 being worst and 10 being best, today is a SUCK...

I completely agree with that. Hopefully tomorrow will be better for both of us.

It'll be a day off for me, and I plan on loving it ;-). I hope that yours shapes up well!

  19. can't handle slow-talkers or mouth-breathers today...

    1. A_Locomotive

      A_Locomotive

Slow talkers are the worst. A guy from my bank called the other day who was one and after 10 seconds I told him to get to the point or I'm hanging up, he didn't and I did.

I do casework so I see ST'' & MB's ALL the time. It's also bad when they just finished eating a sh!* sandwhich and want to talk to you all day.

  20. misses a time (not so long ago) when he could post really cryptic things on Facebook, and no one would bat an eye or take it too seriously. Perhaps they did bat an eye, though, and I'm just now old enough to realize how counter-productive that kind of thing can be.

      jaybird3rd

Personally, I miss the days before Facebook.

  21. wants to thank Conor Engelbrecht for sending 24 text messages to his mobile phone today....jerk ;-)

  22. left his phone at home today. Liberated? Perhaps...

  23. is thrilled! He just found out that a coworker is friends with the people who blew up their garage. It turns out that they're not meth cooks at all, but are just hillbillies with little respect for fire safety.

On Saturday, there was a very loud explosion across the street. An all-metal two car garage had exploded. After everything was addressed with the fire department, it was apparent that there were no cars in the garage. The local newspaper reported that a significant number of propane tanks were found on site, and suggested that they could have been used to transport anhydrous ammonia. Scary stuff....
