  1. Thanks for that. I actually had to order the enclosures from Mouser to get them in black. No idea why Digi-Key doesn't carry them in both colors. I do think it's worth the extra order myself, but there really is some appeal to the silver enclosure as well.
  2. Nope! You'll get one, and I've got you on the list. You have been assigned order sequence number 28. It should go out in the mail by this coming Monday.
  3. Ha! When testing out the cart I'd occasionally order 1000. It doesn't balk. Using Google Checkout is surprisingly nifty. All I had to do was make a super-basic static HTML page, include some JS that has arguments to tie back to my checkout account, and use a couple special div and span tags, and it Just Works. Shipping is a bit hard to do (this is why there's the international shipping option as a special item), but for what's essentially a buy-it-now button it's super easy. Google's CC fees are competitive with anything a tiny merchant like I could find for online stuff, and it's NOT PayPal. Google actually acts like a real credit card processor.
  4. Thanks VERY MUCH everyone, ordering today was a huge success. There were 23 complete SDrive NUXXs and 9 kits ordered today, leaving just 7 more completes and 11 kits. I'll be finishing packing and labeling these over the weekend and I hope to have them out at the post office on Monday morning. (The domestic ones might go out sooner, but as all international shipments need to be handed directly to a postal clerk I have no option but to bring them in during business hours.)
  5. Looking forward to the pics. I got a better camera since I assembled my first one, so I plan on doing a much more detailed writeup on this next one. That'll be really neat to see. I intended to do more step by step photos, but I'd find that I'd end up working on building them, get through a bunch of parts and steps, and realize that I didn't take as many as I'd meant to. It'll also be particularly nifty to see it built and documented from another perspective. So yes, please share and post here about it!
  6. Thanks for all the orders and kind words, everyone! And also, thank you for being patient with the international ordering mistake early on. I just finished going through everything in Google Checkout and copying relevant info to a spreadsheet so I can start labeling boxes, and as of the moment of this post there were 23 complete SDrive NUXXs and 9 PCB/Panel/uC kits sold today. That means there's only 7 complete SDrives NUXXs and 11 kits left available. I'm planning on getting these labeled for shipping this weekend (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) and I'm hoping to get them all to the post office on Monday morning. You will each receive a confirmation note once shipment has occurred. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask here, via PM, or directly via email to [email protected] Thanks again! -Steve
  7. Thanks for the order! And yes, you'll get one. 17 orders submitted in the first hour with some people ordering multiple items, but they aren't sold out yet. Do I get a ribbon for being #1? Were you the one reloading the page from an iPhone in the seconds before the page went live?
  8. Thanks for the order! And yes, you'll get one. 17 orders submitted in the first hour with some people ordering multiple items, but they aren't sold out yet.
  9. I'll email you about this directly. I won't do a public list of names since I promoted this outside of AtariAge as well (and I want to respect people's privacy), but I'll be emailing those who didn't get in and shutting down the store when that happens. As of right now neither the kits nor complete devices are sold out so you've definitely got one.
  10. I will cancel your order and let you know if you didn't get one. I can tell you that everyone who has ordered as of this moment is getting one, though. (That means no, they aren't sold out yet.)
  11. International orders are now working. I'm very sorry about that. Apparently when I was playing around with defining shipping methods the only one I created (domestic flat rate for $0) became the only shipping option. I've since removed that option and international orders appear to be processing successfully now.
  12. There is something wrong with the Google checkout options, even after adding the International Shipping option it wouldn't allow me to place an order to be shipped to my Canadian address. I was attempting to order 2 PCB/end panels/Mega8. This is the message it generates: nuxx.net does not ship to this address via Google Checkout You do not currently have any valid shipping methods. Okay, sorrya bout this. I'll figure out what's up with the international shipping stuff.
  13. After placing item in cart and clicking Googlecheck out is sends me to a merchant test screen stating that in cannot process orders. Any help on this problem? Mike Do a shift-reload on the main page. You probably have a cached copy of the inactivate page which sent orders to a non-functional sandbox.
  14. For what it's worth, I really, really, really like the Atmel AVR Dragon as a do-all programmer. It's now supported by avrdude so I can use it from OS X without issue. I've got a bit about mine and the DIP40 ZIF socket that I fitted it with here. (This is the device that I used for flashing the SDrive NUXX AVRs via HVPP mode.)
  15. That's what I'm saying... I wouldn't getting my hands on this thing. Maybe the one with the odd buttons could be given away as a competition prize. (Not serious, by the way). I've actually got black buttons for it on the way, DK had just mis-counted them and not shipped me enough. I was actually thinking of doing an auction for charity of the last one if they sell out super-quick, but we'll see. Some sort of competition is a neat idea, too.
  16. Just one more bump / reminder that SDrive NUXX ordering begins today at 2:00pm EDT (2011-08-04 @ 14:00 UTC-4); roughly seven hours from now. Thanks, everyone!
  17. Hi, I was wonding if this is the same AVR that comes with the SIO2SD drive that has a two line screen and the same software. First, to clarify, this is a version of the SDrive which does not have the same software as the SIO2SD. Second, the SDrive (and thus the SDrive NUXX) uses an ATmega8 while the SIO2SD uses an ATmega32. So, no, this is not the same AVR. Hope that helps...
  18. PCB / End Panel / uC kits packed. Here is a pile of AVRs in the middle of the packing operation. 2.5 more days!
  19. Be sure the caps are good. See here for a bit on my experience with recapping a 1050. Mine appeared to not power on, but a slight burning smell got me looking. I found that the PS was good and that some of the caps on the board had failed shorted so they were replaced. EDIT: In case it wasn't clear, also check for shorts between the two power rails and ground.
  20. Here they are, all packed and ready to drop into Priority Mail flat rate shipping boxes. Tomorrow night (or maybe Wednesday) I'll pack the parts kits and get those ready to go as well. Yay! It's all coming together!
  21. Just a slight bump / reminder that orders for assembled and parts-kit SDrive NUXXs will be accepted on Thursday, August 4th, 2011 beginning at 2:00pm Eastern Daylight Time (2011-08-04 @ 14:00 UTC-4). That's only 3 days and ~6 hours from now! Additionally, one lucky buyer will have the chance (if desired) to get their SDrive NUXX fitted with yellow keycaps instead of the usual black. Due to a cock-up with Digi-Key not shipping me the correct quantities of parts I am short two black keycaps. While I'm going to pursue getting replacements, I figured that one of you may want to have yellow keycaps fitted instead. Therefore, when placing your if you'd like yellow keycaps, just let me know! Only the first person to submit an order this way will get such keycaps, so hurry up and let me know if you want yours to be a little unique. (If no one is interested in yellow keycaps I'll just fit the replacements black ones and it'll look just like the rest.)
  22. Thank you. A dSLR, quality tripod, and remote shutter release is really quite helpful for documenting things. Even at 5.5 years old my 20D is holding up quite well. If you notice the in order to get the matte anodized SDrive NUXXs exposed reasonably the workbench is super-blown-out. That's just one of the compromises needed with cameras and their limited dynamic range (less than human eye, at least). Regarding a volume purchase, I'd really prefer to keep most of these to sell to individuals here on the forum. There is quite a bit of interest around them and I'd rather ensure that each can go to an individual. If you're interested in a number of them (for yourself or to resell) please email me at [email protected] and let me know what you're interested in and I'll see what can be done.
  23. ...and there we have it, 30 SDrive NUXXs. They have all passed initial startup testing, they just need a bit more exercise connected to an Atari and they'll be ready to pack and ship. Unfortunately Digi-Key shorted me a couple of black keycaps, so there are only 29 ready to go, but this presents an interesting opportunity. If one of you would like yellow or white keycaps for the front (instead of the usual black), let me know when placing your order. I can only do this for one person, but that one lucky person will be able to get their SDrive NUXX a little different than everyone else's. That said, if no one wants theirs done this way I'll just get a couple keycaps sent to me and it'll be sold the same as the rest.
  24. Here's a bunch of front panels getting ready for assembly. More photos can be seen by clicking here and clicking next. RIP, Raster. Without you the SDrive wouldn't have existed. .
