Systems you don't have, but want the most?

Gameboy controllers are too small rendering games like Pac-Man unplayable...Lynx is better in that respect. -

I never understood how that Angry Video Game Nerd could reach celebrity status and is signing autographs at gaming expos...I mean, he's just a gamer like you and me -
Interesting, I thought Centipede was dead on...

What have you actually PLAYED? Weekly Top Ten for 2009
VectorGamer replied to cvga's topic in Atari 2600
ColecoVision Mr. Do! 10 mins No time for gaming...continuing work on the arcade cabinet... -
Up to and including 1983, which was the best year for arcade releases and why? Man, it's tough between 1980 and 1981: Some of the titles released in 81 were Donkey Kong, Frogger, Galaga, Gorf, Lady Bug, Mouse Trap, Ms. Pac-Man, Omega Race, Pleiads, Qix, Satan's Hollow, Space Fury, Stargate, Turbo, Vanguard and Venture. 1980 featured Asteroids Deluxe, Astro Invader, Battle Zone, Berzerk, Carnival, Centipede, Defender, Missile Command, Phoenix, Pac-Man, Space Invaders II, Star Castle, Tempest, Warlords and Wizard of Wor. TOO CLOSE TO CALL! : ]

Additionally, Coleco should have added an expansion module for "The Safe." : ]

Some have scoffed at Coleco releasing "second rate arcade ports" but I am glad they did. Take Donkey Kong for example - OK just kidding. Games like Carnival, Mouse Trap and Venture I enjoyed playing in the arcade and they are excellent ports to the ColecoVision. One game I did not play in the arcade that I am currently addicted to is Pepper II. I am glad they ported these "second rate" games as if you have both the 5200 and ColecoVision you now have a more complete collection of arcade ports. If you look at the the library released for the 5200, man they released some heavyweight titles of the classic era. Unfortunately, those damn joysticks take away from the experience of some but not all. What ColecoVision does more for me is that some of the games make you feel like you are at the arcade. The game that feels most like the arcade to me is Gorf and the screen omissions are forgivable. The graphics and especially the sound effects are absolutely fantastic.

You can have the "look and feel" of Space Invaders it just can't be called that. If you changed the name, sprites, scoring and sounds then it should be OK. So Space Invaders Arcade would have to be renamed "Invaders from Space"?

Arcade Cabinet Modification Project
VectorGamer replied to VectorGamer's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Another question: I know that in networking you need to keep your copper runs away from fluorescent lights. Does this hold true for keeping fluorescent lights away from the control panel wiring? If so, what is the distance to maintain? -
Arcade Cabinet Modification Project
VectorGamer replied to VectorGamer's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I haven't updated in a while and I will post pix soon of my progress. I am soon at project completion as I started mounting the boards in the cabinet and I just need a monitor, marquee and monitor with trimmings to complete it. Question: I am going to need a 19" vertical CRT monitor to mount in the Satan's Hollow cabinet. I need it to hook up to a PC and it needs to be powered as you would a standard PC monitor. Anyhow, since the monitor will be the most expensive piece, does anyone have a list of recommendations so that I can shop around for the most cost effective solution? -

ColecoVision Mouse Trap 20 mins Mr. Do! 5 mins I've had Mr. Do! for months and haven't played it. I actually like it. -
Thanks...I found the fix and makes me want to kick myself... The letter assignments are not the key assignments. If I would've RTFM carefully, I would have saved a lot of frustration. Hagstrom pointed me in the right direction by firing up notepad and seeing what keys were input per each switch. Now I can move on with this project.

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
VectorGamer replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Maybe not a spectacular deal, but I found a Game Cube last night for $7.99 at Salvation Army. I won't even play the thing but my wife and son like the later games like Zelda. It seems the best night to go is Monday. -
I don't know if you had a typo in the response although I did not specifically say the Atari Age store. I thought it was a given. Anyway, what if whomever owns the rights to Space Invaders orders a cease and desist? I suppose that puts a major dent in the home brew scene.

2600 Games To Avoid According To The Video Game Critic
VectorGamer replied to 4Ks's topic in Atari 2600
I disagree with several of the grades they have for ColecoVision games: Beamrider was given a C and should be a B Carnival given a B+ and should be an A+ Gyruss given a C should be a B Ladybug B- should be an A+ Mouse Trap was given a B - are you kidding me? Easily an A+ Omega Race is a B- and should be an A Bump Pepper II from an A- to A+ Tapper D- is a "WTF" grade. Should be a B Venture a C-? Should be an A They are also missing some key CV games like Spy Hunter, Mr. Do and Bump N Jump. They could also stand to add more home brews to the list. I know this is a 2600 post, but I just want to illustrate that some of their grades are kind of out there. -
I'd like to get one of these - is it too late?
-
Issues? Licensing and copyright. You think Taito have received any money for this? What about some of the others like the 2600 "Arcade" carts or Astro Invader for the ColecoVision?

How many different classic systems do you have?
VectorGamer replied to fmctm1sw's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Colecovision, NES, C64 and Odyssey 400. I also have Super NES, N64, PS1 and PS2 but it's arguable whether they are classic systems. I do not consider them classics since they are not geared to the classic games of the golden age... -

VectorGamer replied to Ze_ro's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I collect classic arcade ports and I have pretty much completed my collection for the 2600, 5200, 7800 and ColecoVision consoles. So, I am now concentrating on building the Commodore 64 collection. After completing my C64 collection I may look at buying a Vectrex if I can get a good deal on one. The Astrocade looks attractive as well. I am also looking for the classic pong consoles along the way. -
1 favorite game for each console you own

2600 - Jr. Pac-Man 5200 - Pac-Man 7800 - Galaga ColecoVision - Pepper II NES - Galaga Kind of funny since I consider myself a space shooter but most of my pix are for maze games. I have a C64 as well but only one game so far in that collection. -
C'mon folks - surely someone out there may have an idea!

Real Sports Baseball isn't that bad...it was OK back in the day but I prefer to play sports on the PS1 or PS2. Sports games on the classic consoles aren't my cup of tea.
