Decided to go after Todd Rogers Galaxian record this summer
VectorGamer replied to homerwannabee's topic in Atari 2600
Yeah - why is that? That would've been something to fix in the Galaxian Arcade release. Maybe an extra guy at 7 then 20, 40, 70, 100 etc... -
What have you actually PLAYED? Weekly Top Ten for 2009
VectorGamer replied to cvga's topic in Atari 2600
I wish there were some guidelines as to what can be logged for the Top Ten. If it were me I'd only log the actual game consoles (no emulators) up to the NES and 7800. Otherwise, we're going to soon have Sega Genesis, XBox et al logged into the Top Ten. -

Which version? Colecovision? 2600? -
This keyboard encoder stuff shouldn't be that hard right? Then why is it givin' me fits? I have a Galaga control panel so you right there you know that this should be easy...controls are left, right, fire, one player start and two player start. I'm using the KE18 and have that MTA100-10-12 wiring harness connected to pins "ground" through "I." I purchased the Galaga control panel harness and have interconnected it with the MTA100-10-12 via Molex connectors. I have assigned Galaga the following keys in the MAME ROM config and wired the controls (joystick and buttons) to ground and the respective KE18 pin assignment: P1 Button = A P1 Left = C P1 Right = B P2 Left = C P2 Right = B P2 Button = A P1 Start = D P2 Start = E The only controls that work via the control panel are the P1 start and fire buttons I have the PC set to autologin to XP and run MAME Galaga at startup. So, the only intervention is to "press any key" to boot Galaga. Well, if you leave the control panel plugged into the KE18 during boot NO input peripherals work (i.e. control panel and keyboard). If I boot without the control panel connected to the KE18, I can use the keyboard to press the any key to start Galaga, reconnect the control panel and from there only the fire button and P1 start buttons work. I returned the board to Hagstrom and they said it was OK but honored my request in shipping a totally separate board back. What the heck is goin' on? :x

The sprites have reared their ugly head on my ColecoVision again and it's at the point where I'm going to have to take the thing apart and give it a nice little bubble bath...so, putting that off 'til tomorrow I hooked up my 5200. I thumbed through all the carts in my 5200 collection (which include all the big time arcade ports) however I began missing my ColecoVision! Berzerk, Robotron, Qix (one of my faves), Galaxian, Joust and about a dozen others to choose from in my 5200 collection but what I really wanted to play was Pepper II, Mouse Trap, Donkey Kong, Galaxian and Defender on the ColecoVision. Since I decommisioned the ColecoVision, I instead hooked up the 7800 and played some Joust, Galaga, Food Fight and the 2600 carts Jr. Pac-Man, Space Invaders Arcade, Defender Arcade and Pac-Man Aracde. This isn't based on sales figures, just one man's preference for the ColecoVision over the 5200. I don't dislike the 5200, but in my opinion the ColecoVision is the closest you'll get to the arcade experience between the two.

Y'know - I'd rather have this arcade than no arcade which seems to be a trend around here...I'd just have to wear vinyl gloves... Although, I didn't see any games I liked anyway...

Coleco caused more damage to the games industry then Atari.

...maybe this guy escaped from somewhere within the last month or so? I think this has got to be the most dysfunctional argument on AA... One would think that there is more conspiracy behind the "Great Video Game" crash than the assassination of JFK. -
The "Holy Cow - I can't believe it's a 2600 cart!" Thread
VectorGamer replied to VectorGamer's topic in Atari 2600
The speed of Jr. Pac-Man makes it really fun to play. They did a good job graphically as well. -
Yeah, no kidding! There have been some amazing games made in the past 10 years for the 2600 and *this* is the one that gets the attention? Why? More importantly, how? What's this guy doing that the talented programmers who frequent this site aren't? Connections, connections, connections...it's who you know...
