  1. Can we squeeze a YTD top 50 out of you before you leave since it's the beginning of a new month? : ]
  2. ColecoVision Pepper II 30 mins Miner 2049er 10 mins Super Donkey Kong 5 mins Super Donkey Kong Jr. 5 mins
  3. Interesting - I came across a Wiki that states the reverse - Jungle King/Hunt inspired by Pitfall...Pitfall released early in '82 and Jungle King/Hunt released later that year... It surprises me that Jungle King/Hunt was released so late...it seemed like it would have been more like 1980...but, that's the year KLOV has documented as well.... Maybe I was playing a prototype back in '80! : ]
  4. Boy, this is like the old Heinz ketchup "anticipation" commercials! : ]
  5. But it does play a bit like Avalanche. It had more than three paddles, though. That's the one, thx...
  6. I'm liking that "Dodge 'Em" colored box better than the silver... Is there a bin for this game that can be played in Stella? The screenshots posted really aren't makin' it...
  7. As the thread title suggests, name the games released by Activision that lacked originality: Freeway = Frogger Dragster = Drag Race Kaboom! = that three paddle "Breakout" game I can't remember the title of Chopper Command = Defender
  8. Here's the link to "tangentially" in case you are like me and have to look it up... It seems to me that a lot of Activision titles lack originality. Freeway was a variation of Frogger, Pitfall was inspired by Jungle King (not to take anything away from Pitfall as there was more to it than Jungle King), Kaboom was based on an old three paddle "Breakout" game from the 70s, Chopper Command was a repackaged Defender and Dragster was the arcade Drag Race by Kee Games. Of the ones you listed, River Raid was probably the most original.
  9. Was this for real or just a dream you had? : ] That sounds like a loaded party!
  10. Can you post some details of the party setup/layout?
  11. I'm not following the argument of there not being a crash? The fact that there was a "recovery" does not take away the huge losses and bankruptcies that incurred. One could argue that it was an industry-wide bear market , but you mentioned "panic" and "sell-off" in one sentence which one would more associate with a swift crash versus the steady decline of a bear market. Just about anytime you see folks becoming millionaires by purchasing 1000 shares of QCOM at $4 a pop, you know that it's only a matter of time. History repeats itself...
  12. Was there anything to collect underground? I don't recall anything special accept unsuccessfully jumping over scorpions.
  13. All that stuff was posted at the WWW site he took down...
  14. Sounds like you need to add a Colecovision as well!

  16. Anyone know what's going on? http://peterhirschberg.blogspot.com/ http://www.lunacityarcade.com/ Until further notice I am taking an extended leave of absence from the internet and the arcade collecting scene. I do not know when I will be back online and have taken my website offline until then. In additional, I will no longer be having open Game Days. I apologize for the inconvenience. Peter Hirschberg
  17. ColecoVision Pepper II 80 mins (1.3 million on skill level 1) BurgerTime 5 mins Galaxian 20 mins Donkey Kong 10 mins Omega Race 5 mins Venture 10 mins
  18. NONONONONO!!!!! I just signed up to this dude's mailing list to attend the open Game Days!!! If you're not in the know, this guy build a massive arcade next to his house. Anyone know what's going on? http://peterhirschberg.blogspot.com/ http://www.lunacityarcade.com/ Until further notice I am taking an extended leave of absence from the internet and the arcade collecting scene. 19. No problem...if you got some games bring them along... I'll definitely have another one in the fall and my arcade cabinet will be finished by then. If I have one over the summer it will have to be outside which presents a challenge.
  20. ColecoVision Jumpman Junior 10 mins Omega Race 5 mins Pepper II 115 mins (1.2 million on skill level 1) Popeye 2 mins (I need to RTFM) Q*bert 2 mins (I stink at this game)

  22. Well, I've only played Rock Band and I'm not a fan. And I'm not particularly a Prince fan, but I respect him as a talented musician. Purple Rain was a heck of an album and the movie wasn't half bad. I don't understand the rant. It's his right to not allow his work to be available. If I were a musician who wasn't starving and I didn't care for the games I wouldn't make them available either.
