  1. No, and I think you mean the unreleased Super Game module. The ADAM was released. Yes, I stand corrected. What were the specs on the Super Game module? i.e. what was the enhancement?
  2. Not comparing apples to apples here, but nowadays I do not find any of the retro sports games (up to and including the NES) worth playing. Conversely, I don't find any of the non-sports games worth playing on any system released after SNES. But, that's just MHO being the classic arcade bigot. But yes, the INTV was most famous for their superior sports releases. But George Plimpton still bites... Every new sports-related title was better than the one released before it. They were always in demand therefore making them an easy sell. I remember Atari's Football being in every kid's collection. Even though it was crap in retrospect, it was the 5h1t at the time. Real Sports Baseball came out and it was cutting edge at the time. NES Football came out and it too was a hit. I remember how easy it was and how long it took to run 80 yards for a touchdown.
  3. Anyone know how to get Rampage to work? I'm using the 2600 joysticks and I can't get past the character selection screen. The games I listed as crap earlier surprises me that such bad games were written. The sounds and graphics in some of those titles are horrid.
  4. Two people are bringing over 19" TVs which is cool. I wish my garage was clean enough. Otherwise it would suit.
  5. Don't do it!!!! Why not? Just my disdain for the Intellivision for trash-talking the 2600 in their ad campaigns... So? No need to hold a 27-year old grudge. ez 4 u 2 say! I know this is off-topic and chewing up the bandwidth in this thread, but I couldn't resist...also, I honestly do not find any Intellivision titles attractive. But, this is way off topic of the original post and I'll refrain from further postings...
  6. I want to hook up a Flashback system to an older TV that does not have composite inputs. Does the Shack carry adapters for this application?
  7. It's too bad that these consoles were not designed to perform modular upgrades vs. buying a whole new console. Actually, the Colecovision was designed with expansion like that in mind. I talked several years ago to one of the members of the design firm out of Illinois that redesigned the system, and they specifically moved it to more of a pc structure than console for upgrading of capabilities. Are you referring to the unreleased computer add-on module?
  8. The timing of the party with the Indy 500 requires that I have an Indy 500 tournament instead of Defender. I should receive my second racing controller this week. Should be cool with individual qualifying for the bracket and then a head-to-head knockout tournament. Maybe a small glass of milk for the winner and a kiss of a brick paver.
  9. I just added an NES and 7800 Flashback to my arsenal for this Saturday's party... Also, I'm amazed that I have not seen an abundant number of threads on this topic.
  10. It's too bad that these consoles were not designed to perform modular upgrades vs. buying a whole new console. Based on what I read in "Racing the Beam," they were cutting costs wherever possible on the 2600 hardware. This undoubtedly was the best decision and had the 2600 been designed to be modular and as a result at a higher cost, we probably wouldn't even have this very discussion forum. But strictly from a technology standpoint, it would have been great if they were modular. In regard to 2600 adapters, at the time they were the bomb. If you didn't have a 2600, to extend the library of the Colecovision to 1000+ 2600 carts was phenomenal. Were there any compatibility issues between the Supercharger and any of the 2600 expansion modules that were released? I haven't had any problems on the 7800, but I have had compatibility problems running Stargate and some of the home brews which is why I ask about additional issues.

  15. I think you're getting off track with the songs listed above which were released after 1983. So? They still put up a good atmosphere for gaming. It's not all about the year in which they were released. Also, when I do retro gaming parties I put on a playlist of songs that would only have been heard during the classic era. That's just the angle I was coming from.

It's not all about the year in which they were released. I suppose the original post stating "right back to the arcade" is open for interpretation and I guess I wrongly assumed it meant "back to arcades of the classic era."
  17. Chase the Chuckwagon 2600 cart for three dollars at a yard sale
  18. Have you seen the dude's arcade at http://www.lunacityarcade.com/? I signed up to his mailing list!
  19. I think it's an easy question to answer because they certainly will not drop in price. The number of cabinets that hit the landfill over time will increase the value and so will inflation assuming that the value keeps up with it. I'm with you on the CRT monitor. May I ask where you purchased yours as I am in the middle of a cabinet project myself? Lastly, on the topic of MAME - to each their own but the sight of a cabinet with the "MAME" marquee and the control panel with 50 buttons sure looks bad, IMHO. From my point of view, if you're going to put the effort into building a cabinet then make it look like the real thing. Now I'm sure I will get flamed for those comments and you can tell me all the great reasons why to build a cabinet like that but it won't sway me in the least bit.
