  1. I plan on having a kick ass retro gaming party next Saturday night. I have limited space so a max of 15 people will be attending. Here's what I have planned so far: 5 color and 1 B/W TV (may be replaced by a 6th color TV) 6 consoles - Colecovision, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Commodore 64 and Atari Flashback 2 One laptop running MAME32 and classic arcade games One Lynx handheld Medieval Mayhem head-to-head tournament Defender, Stargate and Robotron Aggregate High Score tournament Laptop with a pre-1984 playlist mixed with midi/wav files of classic arcade jingles and sounds Burgertime Cookies Pizza Scoopables with salsa Maybe a veggie tray Soda, iced tea No hot wings so that the controllers don't get saucy No alcohol as it is family-oriented Anyone else that have thrown retro gaming parties that have additional ideas down to the nitty-gritty for a successful party?
  2. I think you're getting off track with the songs listed above which were released after 1983.
  3. Atari 5200 Qix 60 mins Space Invaders 15 mins Kangaroo 5 mins Pac-Man 10 mins
  4. WTF? I can't get any G00gle hits on those "two established companies" and why the hell wouldn't Jens have just put the URLs right in the article? There's no mention of using eBay, craigslist, half.com or CTCW to buy and sell video games. By the looks of the photographs, one would think that such an article was written in 1983. The front of Jens' head looks like the top of Donald Trump's.
  5. You know what they say "any news is good news"... Conversely in the IT Tech Support world "no news is good news"...
  6. There's an auction for 21 Commodore 64 carts with some pretty decent titles. I don't have a C64 price guide handy so I wanted to survey what the most you would spend. The carts are sold as-is and judging by the pix they look like they are in good condition. Here are the titles: Epyx Fast Load Wizard of Wor Defender Radar Rat Race Gorf Magic Desk I Speed/Bingo Math Dragonsden Omega Race Solar Fox Number Nabber Shape Grabber Clowns Lazarian Sea Wolf HesWare Paint Brush HesWare Hes Writer 64 Visible Solar System Avenger Blueprint Jupiter Lander Frog Master http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7#ht_2165wt_932
  7. Wow, judging by your review it sounds like a really good game. The maze stage sounds really cool and I did not get to try it at the TMG Expo. If anything, Salute Games' posting of one single screenshot of their game has done a great disservice to themselves. Judging by that one screenshot, the game looks like a piece of crap.

  9. I guess if I use this dude's list I would be good to go: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141573 Also, there's an FAQ at: http://classicgaming.gamespy.com/View.php?...game=12#reviews If anyone has a copy of the FAQ that they could upload that would be swell...
  10. I believe it was IBM-compatible although the C64 wasn't far behind. I got all my crap from Electronics Boutique.
  11. I just bought a Lynx at TMG Expo for $40. I bought Robotron, Joust and Rampage all sealed and Paperboy loose. I love this system! Is there a database somewhere listing all the games released for this console? Also, critic's reviews for the games would be helpful.
  12. Colecovision Galaxian 10 mins Beamrider 10 mins 5200 Mario Bros 10 mins Pac-Man 10 mins Joust 10 mins
  13. The control panel, overlay, buttons and joystick are from MikesArcade.com Overlay Control Panel Joystick This is looking really good so far, keep up the great work. If I may, I'd like to put in my two cents regarding the monitor. I use an authentic arcade monitor in my MAME cabinet and then I tie it to a very cool device called the Universal Video Converter made by Ultracade. I also use the controller interface called the GP-Wiz. they make one that uses the standard PS2 keyboard input on a pc or USB. With these two devices in place your arcade experience will be much more realistic and the cost is not too bad either. Whatever you decide, just keep plugging away at it Can you refer me to a vendor to purchase the monitor from? I need a 19" CRT monitor for this cabinet. Maybe you know someone besides Happs Controls?
  14. I bought a PS2 and N64 last night for $10 a pop - is that a good deal or no?
  15. Colecovision Galaxian 10 mins Jungle Hunt 5 mins 5200 Mario Bros 10 mins
  16. Hey, someone just posted Prehistoric Times on the "Spreading the love with Free Games and more! - 3rd Edition!" thread...I guess they're done with it already...
  17. That's where I got 90% of my stuff but the 7800 carts he had I already had or did not want That guy had the best stand in the joint, IMHO
  18. The control panel, overlay, buttons and joystick are from MikesArcade.com Overlay Control Panel Joystick
  19. For $8 you should've called the cops and had her busted for attempted rape...
  20. BTW, the show wasn't so crowded that you had elbows in a55hole5 - so the fact that they "sold out" by 10:30 AM wasn't because of big demand but of low supply.
  21. I installed the kick plate yesterday and the only choice I had was to hammer it in using eight small "tack" nails. It does the trick from a cosmetic standpoint as well.
