  1. Not officially it wasn't. It, along with several others, were converted to the 5200 from the Atari 800 series computers. So there is no cart for it?
  2. You should check out the "What Have You Played" thread in the Atari 2600 forum. I thought this was more in line with the non-atari players. I don't know why that thread is in the Atari 2600 forum since it is for all classic console games...
  3. Was this game ever ported to the 5200? I have seen it mentioned a few times but I do not have it listed in my price guide.
  4. I think there are still some good deals out there. A lot of good deals are on the Chuck and in some game lots on eBay as long as you're not buying ten carts when you only need three of them. $383 for Colecovision Pac-Man Collection takes the cake. I could get a new vanity for my bathroom for that amount of money. I hope the person that won it has plenty of disposable income.
  5. I was at City Island in Harrisburg last Saturday night for the USL Div 2 City Islanders game. They have a puny arcade on the island and much to my delight they had at least one classic arcade cabinet. It was one of those that had multiple games in one cabinet. On it was Sinistar (which was the first time I ever played this game and hadn't a clue as to what I was doing), the entire Defender series including Stargate and Robotron:2084, Joust and a few others I have never played (the names were vaguely familiar but not so that I can even remember what they were). Although it was not of the Golden Age, they also had Daytona USA which I had to cough up 8 tokens for my kid to play two games. I was playing Joust at the time so I didn't see how badly he did that prompted him to ask me for all those tokens in a matter of two minutes. Of course, I was not doing so hot myself. It's interesting how much more tough the actual arcade game is compared to their home console counterparts. A few pinball machines, skeeball, one of those rip-off claw games and a few other uninteresting games rounded out one's gaming pleasure. Someone mentioned about the luxury of playing games in their own home versus the crowds at the arcade and the like. I had quite a few tokens to spend on that cabinet until some old fart was looking over my shoulder to play Robotron. I didn't want to Bogart the machine so I in the interest of good sportsmanship I relinquished control. I'll have to spend the rest of my tokens on my next visit to the Island. The Too Many Games expo is less than a week away and I am really excited as it will be my first expo after returning to the fray of classic gaming. I have a grocery list of games compiled to finish up my Colecovision, 7800 and 5200 collections. These are not complete collections, mind you, just a collection of games I enjoy playing. I will post a separate thread in this forum next Monday with pix and what I was able to pick up. Inquiring minds want to know, so the final score of the game was the Islanders 3, Western Mass 1 in front of a decent crowd considering that Mayor Reed refuses to upgrade the complex and regards it as the drunken Uncle in the basement that no one talks about.

  7. An arcade monitor and a PC monitor are roughly the same size. The real problem is the lack of a mounting bracket on a PC monitor. On my MAME cab, I just created an internal horizontal shelf to hold the PC monitor in place. In your case, the monitor was meant to be bolted on at an angle, so you'll have to be a bit more creative about how to mount it, if you want the monitor mounted at the angle that your cabinet intended it to be. Hmmm...I'm scratching my head because I've seen several sites online that sell the arcade style (PC compatible) monitor either with the mount kit included or sold separately for that respective model.
  8. It's a tournament of video games we've done the last few years. It's inspired by the one that GameFAQs does, but with a focus on vintage gaming. Here's the finals from the last three years: The 2008 Vintage Game Shodown 2007 Vintage Character Shodown Atari Shodown (2006) I spell it "Shodown" as a tribute to Samurai Shodown from SNK. But where's the tournament?
  9. For the uninitiated, what is the "Summer Showdown"?
  10. Go back and get it and flip it on eBay if you don't want to keep it!
  11. I can add Burgertime on the Colecovision to the list...
  12. These are asking prices for loose carts I sampled: Mr. Do for Colecovision @ $4.95 is about right Summer Games for 2600 @ $4.95 is about right Pac-Man Label Var. for 2600 @ $24.95 is too high Spider Fighter 2600 @ $3.95 is about right Congo Bongo for CV @ $7.96 is too high Beef Drop for 5200 @ $149.99 is way too high Prices for Centipede, Miner 2049er, Ladybug, Time Pilot and Cabbage Patch kids for CV are all high I didn't have time to go through the entire list so you get the idea. I judged based on what I have purchased through auction and what I know from a price guide. As I indicated, some are about right and others are way too high. Can't blame a guy for wanting to make a buck. You also can't blame those that would flame him for inflated prices.
  13. I have always loved the classic arcade games. I enjoy the modern sports games and that is all I like from the modern era. What I can't stand is waiting for one of those new games to load and then watching about a half-dozen intro screens. I put in a VCS cartridge and B00M! - it's there. I have nothing and will never have anything newer than a Playstation in my house. The title of this thread excludes those 20 years and younger! : ]
  14. The cabinet is now primed and control panel is assembled. Note that I took a picture of the joystick before I received the bolts to attach it to the control panel. Using the hinge method of attaching the overlay worked like a champ.
  15. I thought that arcade style PC monitors were produced that were the same size as the monitor I would need?
  16. BTW, to answer the two questions in the original post... No, it closed down a LONG time ago... Here are some of the games I remember... Death Race Space Invaders - they had an upright and a cocktail version The Safe - that game where you guess the combination and win a token Sea Wolf Those games where you hold a rifle and shoot guys in a town in the old West on a projection screen... Similar to the one above only you're shooting ducks They had a bunch of pinball machines and some pool tables. It also featured a whole bunch of people in jean and leather jackets slumped down on the floor in front of the arcade smoking cigarettes. Can you believe that's all I remember them having in that arcade? I do - heck, I think it closed down 30 years ago, which may be accurate since the games I listed were all produced before 1979.
  17. That would be sweet if the goal of the hardware was to create a large number of arcade ports up to 1984, that are true to the real thing and is backward compatible with the 2600 and 7800 carts. Add to that updating earlier titles from the 2600, 5200 and 7800 library that could use a boost in graphics and enhanced gameplay. I think this would be more suitable for hobbyists like the ones found here on AtariAge. If I had the know-how, this would be something I personally would undertake. I guess this was a pretty much a "duh moment." All you'd have to do is create a small formfactor mobo with USB ports and respective controllers, use flash for disk space, use open source OS and software to run the exact ROMs that were programmed for the games. Wrap this up in an attractive console and done. Legal use of the ROMs is the biggest hurdle. You could probably just do this just like the Flashback system and not even have to do any of the above steps. Now, who the heck would buy this when you can do this yourself? If your computer illiterate, mostly likely you won't have an interest in this stuff anyway.
  18. Thank you so much for that link, now please provide a time machine Seriously, I miss those days I hope there's room for a few more in that machine...
