How to get started building a MAME cabinet
VectorGamer replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Arcade and Pinball
No. -
When you look at some of the home brews in development like Draconian, Scramble & Pac-Man 8-bit or games released like Juno First and the advances that have been made - The End sets the program back 35 years. The End looks like a game that CommaVid would've slapped together for a quick buck BITD. The bottom line is always if a game is fun to play or not. Look at the repetitive game play in the video: shoot an enemy, another enemy appears on the screen, rinse and repeat.

Came in expecting the translation of the arcade game. Watched a video of a 2600 game with the same title that lacks depth. Leaving disappointed.

Arcade Multicade Conversions, your thoughts on them
VectorGamer replied to Polybius's topic in Arcade and Pinball
What location is that? I haven't been to Hanover since the spring and they didn't have a Missile Command there. I haven't been to the York location since June. -

VectorGamer's Gaming Stuff That Needs A New Home

The pinball tournament was fun. But, everybody I talked to whether they were players from my league or my opponents agreed that the tournament would be better if they would lineup about 8 pinball machines, put in a row of chairs, temporarily rope off the area and assign the machine to be played for each match. Also it would've been nice if there was an announcement for the finals so we could watch and see the disbursement of awards. Nice meeting you there. No more shows for me until Allentown next spring

First of all I cannot get further information from Microsoft if it is just a 24 hour suspension. So the only information I have is based on a conversation with my son. My son thinks he was suspended for spamming. He said he was in contact with another player about joining a game and the player said he was not getting the invites so my son kept resending them. So perhaps the player was trolling my son into doing this so he could report him to Microsoft.

Anyone see this LD game outside of Japan?
VectorGamer replied to Nebulon's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I've played Cobra Command in Daphne it's an OK game. I'm not a big fan of LD games but Cobra Command is one of the better ones. KLOV has more info than wiki: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7362 There was another Cobra Command released later by Data East. KLOV is calling this "Cobra Command 1988" but you'll see "1988" is not mentioned anywhere on the marquee or attract screens. http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=7363 I have this on one of my MAME cabinets. Again, another "OK" game. -
If you have a gaming forum that hasn't seen a new post in days shouldn't you just pull the plug and tell members to migrate to an active forum? Why waste the CPU cycles?
-
Seems to be an ego thing. People like to try to create their own standalone communities. Why not direct everyone to AtariAge instead? Most everyone who's a classic gaming/computing fan seems to be here already.

It's very commendable, but all important forums are available, new ones don't stand a chance

Some new auctions this week ending Saturday. See post #1

We still have a fax server on our network here at work. Supposedly the legal department requires it to transmit documents. And guess what - it runs NT 4!

I'm a player not a collector. I have no attachment to game cartridges as I just want to play the game. I've supported the home brew community the past 7 years but if I buy a home brew and some time later the ROM becomes available as a free download then I no longer have the need for the cartridge and up on eBay it goes. And the winning bidder on my auction may be a collector that missed out on the initial physical release of a home brew so it's a win for them.

Admittedly I only read like 2 paragraphs from the instruction manual before I tore into loading this flash cart. I found the process to be somewhat cumbersome especially compared to what I'm used to with SD multicarts where the SD card shows up as a drive in Windows and you can just drag n drop your binaries. In the LTO GUI, I created two folders on the right hand side and I was hoping to select all from the left hand pane and drag the binaries into the folder on the right pane. But when I did the binaries were all copied to the root of the flash cart. Apparently you cannot select multiple files in the right pane and I had to individually select each binary and drag it into the folders I created. But that was the worst of it and I'm happy that I got this thing.

Repository of DOSBOX classic games?
VectorGamer replied to Omega-TI's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
Google "abandonware" http://www.myabandonware.com/ -
I'm going to pass on that. The whole reason for me to buy a multicart is so I can have the entire library on an SD card and sell the carts I have in my collection. I'm not going to be loading/reloading a cart that can only hold 16 games. I'll buy the first 7800 SD multicart that gets produced and be done with it.
