  1. I recently acquired a Peripheral Expansion Box for my TI-99/4A. The box is in pretty rough shape, so I thought I would tear it down, clean it up and reassemble...

I'm running into some issues, however...

Does the front plate (the plastic face) some how SNAP onto pegs or something, or do I have to unscrew it from behind? If the latter is the case, gaining access to the screws (apart from the ones in the middle) is proving difficult. Also, is there an easy way to gain access to the floppy to replace it (should I need to do that)?

    Oddly assembled beast...

    Any help would be appreciated!

  2. Just returned home with my latest Craigslist acquisition...

An expanded 520STfm (in SUPERB condition) with mouse, a Mouse Master, manual and all cables along with a box of over 40 games and other programs for $40.00 USD. I'm pretty pleased. :-)

I do have a question, however, a bunch of the disks have the words "HOLLYWOOD CONNECTION" printed on them (directly on the disk). Was this a company that rented software or something? Anyone know anything about this???

  3. So a few months back I acquired a 1040STf from a local craigslist seller... Bargain basement price and it was in the original box, however... No mouse, no cables, no manual. I have a monitor, so ok on that front, but I am needing to acquire the other odds and ends. Anyone out there have some spares they might be interested in selling? Manual can wait (and I can probably find that on my own), but a mouse and the appropriate cables would be HUGELY helpful!

    Thanks!

  4. You can take some comfort in the fact that the Commodore Club meetings are very friendly to and inclusive of other computers and console games. I think Sean will have his TurboGrafix at the next meeting and I will take on all comers on Klax or Galaga 90!

That's EXCELLENT and note, I don't mean anything elitist by expressing interest in another club... To be honest, I think my favorite type of club would be one that caters to all retro systems not just Atari, Commodore, Apple, etc., but happy to hear that the Commodore one is open to other retro fun and is also doing well!!!

  5. I do believe that plans are in the works :ponder:

    we'll see.... :)

    Rick

PS thanks for coming to our show! glad you enjoyed it!

"enjoyed it" may be an understatement... As I told Chuck on Saturday: "This may be one of the coolest events I've ever attended!" :-) I had a BLAST!

And if you're looking for more folks to help get that club off the ground, give me a shout!

  6. Out of curiousity were you an organizer?

Alas, no, just an enthusiastic attendee... That said, I do think (considering the area already has its Commodore club/s) that we need to get either an Atari club or just a general Retro Computer club together in the area some day...

  7. Friend of mine is trying to track down a game he remembers on the 8-bits...

He asked me via IMs and this is what he wrote:

"Do you remember the name of the Atari 800 game where you mowed the lawn (or something like that) where you essentially painted the screen?"

"I just remember some game where you were essentially painting the whole board green and won when it was all filled in."

"It was kinda like Qix where you were avoiding attacks but it was very 'fill in the grid'"

    Any ideas at all???

    Thanks!

    ~Scott

And do you REALLY need to own 16 of any one retro computer? At that point you're either insulating your home with them or hoarding so that others CAN'T get their hands on one... Just sayin. ;-)

  10. Hey guys, due to a recent move AND my current job situation (or lack of) I'm slowly but surely paring down my collection to just the essentials (mainly my Atari 8-Bit stuff and a few other computers).
