BUMP!

I've got a non-working Commodore 64 up for grabs. I don't have the power supply anymore to test it with, but the last time I messed with this it would play cartridge based games but would not load anything from tape or disk. Pretty much anything you try to do inside the BASIC interpreter results in a "syntax error". This makes me think that the machine has a bad ROM chip. It is also fairly beaten up and yellowed. This might be a good repair project for somebody or at the very least there are some good parts here. I just want to be reimbursed for shipping, which I have estimated at $14.00.

Interested! PM sent.

I'm still interested in 2 C64's if anyone has any to sell. Thanks.

I am a highschool math teacher and next semester I will be teaching an electronic music course. I would like to expose my students C64 music. Since the cynthcart is so easy to use I thought I'd start there.
I'm interested in buying two working C64's. Cosmetic condition doesn't matter, and video problems don't matter. I'd love to buy up some of the C64's others might not want to buy. Please include how much you are looking to get for these and shipping to 84606. Thanks.

I'm doing a project and need at least 100 5.25" floppy disks. I would prefer that the disks look well used, but not bent or folded. Multiple stickers or writing would be a plus. Disks do not need to work. Thanks for your time.

What you need to do now is boot the ADTPro disk and it will walk you through the steps of setting up the connection between the //c and your PC. If it doesn't then just go to the ADTPro page and follow the process there. Once you have the settings right, so your PC is talking to the //c, you'll remove the ADTPro disk from the internal floppy drive and put a blank disk in there, format it, and then send what ever disk image you want from the PC to the //c. ADTPro will let you know when it's done writing the disk image to disk.
If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask and welcome to the wonderful world of the Apple II.
Thanks for your help!

I bought a uIEC about a year ago.
I try to buy C128 power supplies when I see them (I've bought two this year).
And a few months ago I bought another cynthcart so I could play dual C64's.

Have you already 'bootstrapped'?
~telengard
Thanks for the reply!
I'm not familiar with what that means, although I have heard it a few times from videos I've watched and documentation I've while trying to figure this out.
I bought the modem port ===> DE-9 connector cable from RetroFloppy.com as well as the ADTpro on 5.25" floppy.
I'm a little confused, because when looking into "bootstrapping" it seems like it always ends with making a copy of the program on a 5.25" disk, but I already have that. I'm sure I'm missing something.
Is there a way to store ADTpro on the Apple //c so that the built-in floppy drive is available to make a copy of a disk image on an actual 5.25" disk?
Thanks.

I just got ADTpro and a new Apple //c. This is my first Apple // and I don't know much about vintage computing. This might sound dumb, but do you need two disk drives to run ADTpro and transfer a disk image from a modern PC to the Apple //c to copy it onto a 5.25" floppy?
I was hoping to use only the Apple //c's built-in floppy drive to turn disk images into floppies.
Any help you can provide me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I love the uIEC for the c64. Also, I am currently playing around with ADTpro to get my Apple //c up and running.
-
If you're going to spend $45 on an adaptor, I'd really recommend spending a little more and getting a uIEC. That will mostly free you from floppies, except for uncracked copy protected games, which you can dump to disk from the 64 with d64it.
I second this, I love my uIEC.

PM sent about the Apple ][c computers.

Anyone ready for round 10? Sorry, I've been busy...
Chris
I've been busy too, but I'm ready to finish this thing up if everyone else is. Thanks Chris!

First off I'm sorry if PS1 isn't considered classic gaming, it seems like it is on the cusp of modern and classic, but the modern forum seems like it is more about the current generation of systems, so I posted it here.
Second, I have never been a fan of light gun games, but that might be because most of my experience is with the NES zapper. I while a go I bought a sega CD that came with a Justifier, both lethal enforcer games, and snatcher (all disk only). Anyway, I am now addicted to light gun games and while at my parents' house during the holidays I found my brother's PS1 and a bunch of games, many that are light gun compatible.... but no light gun. So I did a little research (mainly Wikipedia) and found out that there were two main guns produced for the PS1 the Justifier and the Guncon, but they are both only compatible with select games.
The Wikipedia article mentions that there are some third-party guns that are compatible with both types of games (Justifier and Guncon games). Does anyone know the name(s) of these guns and which one(s) are the best?
Thanks again.

I have some C64 Floppy disks and a floppy-disk storage container. I got these in a large lot of C64 stuff and was only interested in the music software. I have not tested all f these disks, but the ones I did test worked great. The disks include originals with manuals, originals without manuals, blank disks, copies, and demo/ software-of-the-month disks. There are over 100 disks total. The only catch is that you will have to take everything. Just pay shipping (USPS Medium Flat Rate Box + DC: $12). Thanks.
Gone, thanks!

Just the fact that Luigi is on the label should have been a big tip off that it wasn't the same game. Luigi is not in SUPER Mario Brothers.
Huh? He's there when you play as the second player. On both Mario Bros. AND Super Mario Bros.
Doesn't really count. All he is in those games is the Mario sprite with different colors. Luigi doesn't become uniquely Luigi or a selectable character until later games except for briefly in SMB2. He didn't even have a voice over actor until Mario Karts 64 on the N64.
So what's your point? Your picture just proves my point that Luigi was just Mario with a different color palette up to a certain point. He doesn't look, sound, or act any different from Mario in that game and you can't select him as player 1. They could just as easily have let player 2 be Mario, also, and it wouldn't have made a bit of difference.
Sorry to jump back to the Mario/Luigi thing, but doesn't luigi handle slightly different than Mario? If I remember correctly Luigi can jump higher/farther, but he also slides farther when he lands. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I genuinely believe that Mario and Luigi are two different characters and are not simply sprite color swaps.
Anyway, I love this thread.

Nope, I was wrong. http://www.mariowiki.com/Luigi#Super_Mario_Bros.

Anyone know where to get a reasonably priced mod chip for the PS1? Or does anyone have the know-how and equipment to make me one? Of course I would compensate you for parts, labor, and shipping.
Please post here or PM me.

I just found this website, does anyone know if it is reputable?

Thanks everyone, I'll look into pricing for all of your suggestions, and prioritize my Sega CD collecting.

So today I just bought a Model 2 Sega CD and a Model 2 Genesis (Side-by-Side Model). I could never afford one of these when I was a kid, and have always been interested in playing one, so when I saw it today (along with an official hard case, the genny, two controllers, all the hook ups, blue pistol, pistol hard case, 30 genny games, and 10 sega CD games) I couldn't say no. So, here are some things I would like to know about the system I bought:
(1) Is the Model 2 sega cd more reliable, are there any downsides to owning a model 2 over a model 1?
(2) What are some good RPGs for the sega cd?
(3) What are some good shooting games (the gun looks awesome, and I want to start shooting things)?
(4) Any other god games that don't fit into the above genres that I should check out?
(5) Is Sewer Shark a good game? I don't know why, but I always wanted to play this as a kid, and never knew anyone with a sega cd.
Thanks in advance for your wisdom.
