  1. So, I live in Utah where Commodore stuff is scarce to find in the local classifieds, and when they do pop up people want ridiculous amounts of money for them (like $350 for a C64 without the power supply that worked the last time the seller used it, 15 years ago). Every so often I check craigslist for other cities to see what is offered as to live vicariously, and about 2 months ago I found (and eventually answered) an ad: "Commodore 64 + other stuff - $25". So here's the adventure (I feel that this could be a long post so I will just make a numbered list and then post some pictures). (1) I contacted the seller and discussed shipping. (2) I found out the contents of the lot and wanted it even more. (3) I found out the shipping price and couldn't afford it any more. (4) I remembered that my wife has a cousin who lives in the same city as the seller. (5) Contacted wife's cousin, and set up the deal with the seller. (6) I was going to go house sit for my wife's aunt this summer and have a vacation of my own in Moab (3-4 hours away from my house). (7) My wife's cousin comes to visit his family in Moab about every 2-3 weeks (he lives 3 hours away in a different direction in Colorado). ( We were going to be in Moab at the same time, to make the drop off. (my 8 turned into a cool-dude smiley, aaahahhhh!) (9) I got the stuff and hauled it back to my place for testing. The seller was the nicest guy I've ever dealt with. He delivered all of the stuff to my wife's cousin's house, and said I didn't have to pay him until I got everything and tested it to see if it worked. And amazingly everything worked (no alignment problems on the disk drives, no psu problems). The C64 has a few hard-to-push keys, but I'm going to fix that with a little cleaning. Here's the list of the stuff I got: C64 (breadbox)::: All cables and psu 1541 Disk Drive::: cable + power cord 1541-II Disk Drive::: cable + psu Monitor (forgot the manufacturer, but the model number was something like SC-100)::: power cable + cable to connect to C64 Commodore 1526 Printer::: Power cable Carts::: A Red Fast Loader-type cart, and Currah Speach 64 (this one is fun to use) Other software::: Mostly copies on disk, but some loose originals on disk Many C64-related texts An Atari joystick Thanks (I'll post pictures in the next post) Dusty
  2. Sorry for the triple post, but I didn't think I would have enough time to play as much as I did. Still not a high score compared to others but this is the best I can do for now. This is my final submission: High Score: 182870
  3. I haven't played bubble bobble for more than 5 minutes, but I'm starting to like this game now. I'm sure my score reflects my experience with this game, but level 9 keeps giving me a hard time. High Score: 132890
  4. People hardly sell Commodore stuff in Utah. This would never show up on my craigslist. Someone buy it and post pictures so I can live vicariously. Dusty
  5. Also, atari2600.com gives it a rarity of 10. Is this accurate?
  6. If I wanted to get one loose, possibly missing a button (like the picture), how much should I spend (as to not get ripped off)? Dusty
  7. While we are talking about value, how much do the remote joysticks cost? They seem pretty cool. Dusty
  8. Oh, that's one of those multi cart changer units. They were sold all during the classic era, and perhaps after that. You could plug 10 games into that and then just push a button to select the game you wanted to play. Saved time and hassle from having to change carts all the time. Any more information on this specific model? Manufacturer? Rarity of this unit? Posssible value? Anything? Thanks. Dusty
  9. Here's the picture: The resolution is low so I wasn't able to read the name printed on the front. Anyone have any idea what this is? Dusty
  10. I'll have to find it again, but from what I remember it holds 10 carts, and somehow it plugs into the 2600s cartridge slot. Each of the 10 games can be selected by pressing a button. Thanks for the reply, and I'll try to find the picture again. Dusty
  11. The picture isn't letting me link to it (or I'm being dumb). Anyway, it appears to be like a gamebrain, but it is different. Any idea as to what it could be? Thanks. Dusty
  12. Anyone know how to contact Frank? Yeah, that's the only info I could find too, and the 2004 date doesn't sound promising. Thanks for the post. Dusty
  13. found this, thanks. http://www.bjtechserv.com/Magazine/C64/C64_Keyboard_Clean.htm Dusty
  14. Many of the buttons on my C64 must be pushed really hard for them to respond (specifically one of the shift keys, return, F1, and a few others). Is there something I can do to fix this problem? Thanks, Dusty
  15. No problem. Does anyone know who the developer(s) is/are? I'm guessing that they are around the AA forums somewhere. Thanks. Dusty
  16. I might be doing something wrong, but the link you gave me just states that the Atariage store is on vacation, any more info on cvsynth? Thanks. Dusty
  17. I was just wondering if the CVSYNTH colecovision cartridge ever came out. And if it did, where can I get one and roughly how much does it cost? The website appears to have been updated in 2004 and states that it is in beta testing. Thanks for any information on this. Dusty
  18. Probably not at the same time, safely. The original C64 supply is 1.5A on the +5V, and 1A for each leg of the 9VAC. The 128 has 2.5A on the +5, but still only 1A for each of the 9VAC. I wouldn't try it due the AC draw. I'm not positive how much current the C64 draws on the 9VAC lines, but I'm sure it's not half the rating. OK, thanks. Dusty
  19. (I originally posted this is the wrong forum) I have been using a modified C128 PSU for my C64. I now have a second C64 and don't trust the original C64 PSU's, so could I add an extra plug to my C128 PSU to power my second C64? Thanks. Dusty
  20. I have been sing a modified C128 PSU for my C64. I now have a second C64 and don't trust the original C64 PSU's, so could I add an extra plug to my C128 PSU to power my second C64? Thanks. Dusty
  21. I just weighed mine and its 640 grams (without a tape in it). If Google's unit conversion is telling the truth, that makes approx. 1 pound and 6 and a half ounces in American measurements. Thanks. Dusty
